Igor1 Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 (edited) I think this set finally has 25214 parts in Dark Bluish Gray (Brick, Round Tube). Edited June 12, 2025 by Igor1 Quote

It kinda feels like a Mindstorms or educational model that they repurposed at the last minute? I kinda like it cuz I like jank, but I can't deny it's pretty ugly. That is not likely. This 42211 Lunar Rover model appears to be another one of those Technic sets that blurs the lines between fact and fiction; another licensed concept model, so to speak, like the 42081 Zeux set from 2018. As indicated by the logo displayed in the bottom right-hand corner of the set box, "Lunar Outpost" is the name of a real company that is actively creating lunar vehicles for use on future manned missions to the moon. While the top half of the vehicle's design is purely fictional, presumably to attract children towards buying this set (presumably with its two big headlight "eyes"), the bottom half (chassis) of the vehicle is very similar to that of the real vehicles Lunar Outpost has planned, or at least, was going to produce at the time this set was made. Their designs appear to have been refined since then. Here's the hyperlink to their website: https://www.lunaroutpost.com/rovers Edited July 7, 2025 by HydroWorld Outlook Quote
Auroralampinen Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Hey @kbalage i wanted to ask you. When the embargo date for august technic sets is over, can you review the 42211 first. Because the 42211 has got so little coverage and this seems to be pretty underrated set. So it would be cool, if the most underrated august wave set would get the first review. Thanks, if this is possible:). Quote
kbalage Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 @Auroralampinen I don't think it will happen. When I have multiple sets that share the same embargo, I usually ask my audience which one they want to see first, and I would be very surprised if this set won. Quote

Auroralampinen Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 Well, i did look local retailers and other (european) retailers. And this set price is about 75-89.99€. Same as the volvo zeux from 2018. And i strongly think this the best value for your money in these august sets. You get new pieces and many rare and usefull pieces. So i strongly think the underdog 42211 might be the best deal from the august wave. Next to the 42213, wich cost 54€ in local retailers:). Quote

Auroralampinen Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Ok, i did look the digital instructions for the 42211. And the steering system looks pretty cool:). Ok, the solar panels are operated by lever. Now i think the 42211 is the best set from august wave:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Finally the 42211 has a video review:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Here is another review of this set:). Quote
gyenesvi Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 I like the suspension on this thing, it's nothing new, but a nice space efficient implementation of the classic pendular axle tilt averaging linkage. 4 hours ago, Auroralampinen said: Here is another review of this set:). Here's what this reviewer says about it: "instead of the usual spring shock absorbers, it uses custom technic parts". He means beams and links. Really custom technic parts.. Quote
Auroralampinen Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 Here is Racingbrick's review of the 42211:). Quote
pleegwat Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 I wonder if 36 parts per wheel is a record. Quote

That wannabe "new" influencer has no idea what he is talking about. I stopped watching any of his reviews after the second video. Maybe reading from a script like all the pros are doing and some actual technical knowledge would help. Luckily we have good old RB. ;) I think this set is pretty cool, function rich and I wouldn't mind having a Space themed set every year. But my guess is the designers are already running out of ideas and TLG would rather make more licensed cashcows in black boxes of death. Quote

It's a pretty safe bet that Technic builders are Technic fans as well, so they've probably seen so many interesting mechanisms and vehicle types that they'd love to try make. Quote
