Thanks for the news! :classic:

I really like the majority of the vehicles included in the winter wave. But the great Tractor ist so missing a (new) trailer and cries for more Farm sets.

Which concerns the Summer wave, I'm the most curious about the Yellow Backhoe Loader and the Pizza Delivery with Vehicles. Hopefully there will be a delivery car this time. Do you think that the new tandem cycle (from Friends new this year) will be included in a non-Friendish color, too? But what I really miss in the list are HOUSES - where are they (gone)?!

I'd love something to go with the tractor this year or next.

Maybe a Pickup truck to deliver produce?

Or a Hay-bailer as well as a Combine Harvester. We are overdue a Combine Harvester. I’d like to see one with a similar function to the bulldozer.

Yeah - 2026 looks to be a very bad year for new animals in Lego City. Hopefully this isn’t part of the new lead designer’s vision going forward, in particular as I don’t particularly like what we’ve seen so far.

The only set I'm interested in seeing would probably be the pizza delivery set. Cmon Lego! You used to surprise us during the summer. What happened?

I’m hope to see more dog breeds

For those Lego animal fans, is that too soon to say that 2026 is a bad year for aniamls?? We haven’t ever seen official pictures of the summer wave. Sometimes aniamls show up in one or two of those summer sets out of blue.

I'm optimistic every year for new animals but have learned it's not wise - better be surprised than disappointed I suppose!

I guess the set names don't really suggest settings where animals are particularly abundant (e.g. nothing implies the forthcoming sets will take place in a more natural landscape like a rainforest, savannah or national park where you'd expect a bigger variety of animals). This just leaves more urban or domestic animals - I suppose we have a lot of foxes in built-up areas here in the UK so that is a possibility for a re-colour of the arctic foxes. However, visitors from abroad always seem surprised to see them, so it clearly isn't a common thing in a city setting!

We do have a lot of city foxes in finland too:).

A few more set names have leaked (from r/Legoleak):

  • 60480 Yellow Backhoe Loader

    • 301 pieces
    • June release
  • 60492 Passenger Airplane (4+)

    • 118 pieces
    • June release
  • 60494 Dump Truck and Front Loader

    • 1,132 pieces
    • June release
  • 60506 Beachside Tram

    • June release
    • Blue tram plus a beach build
  • 60511 Retro Steam Train

    • 575 pieces
    • June release
    • Locomotive with tender and one passenger car
  • 60496 Pizza Delivery with Vehicles

    • 494 pieces
    • June release
  • 60497 Automatic Car Wash

    • 583 pieces
    • June release
  • 60510 City Advent Calendar 2026

    • September release

OMG, a Front Loader Backhoe?! If this one is more accurate(either vertical or rigor lifts, backhoe bucket), I'm buying 2 of them! At 301 pieces that seems it will be more detailed than set 60385. I didn't want it so large, but still about time we get a new dump truck and a wheeled front loader! A Tower Crane and Construction Center should follow suit, hopefully!

I saw in an interview with Chris Stamp that they’re gonna be releasing quite a few construction sets over quite a number of years.
I hoping the town sets are a Lego Store, Hospital and Dog Park

Awesome regarding Construction! So to me that means another Tower Crane and maybe another tractor-trailer pulling a bridge as it's cargo?

Really looking forward to some new construction sets later this year. Personally hoping to see 60494 with an articulated dump truck in a similar design style to 60471. Ideally with both it and the wheel loader using tires from 42213. That would give both models a more authentic look.

Speaking of tires, I hope they don't use the same tires on 60480 that they used on 60498. The front tires especially would be far too big for a backhoe, in my opinion. What are y'alls thoughts?

That’s what I’m hopeful the dump truck will be like, I think it will be in that style.
I think the tires will be slightly smaller on the backhoe loader.

Interesting, in set 60490 in step 74. Those warning stripes have a different thickness. Interesting small mistake:).

At their connection point (between the tiles) it looks like it's matching up pretty good. Maybe it's the perspective in the instruction? Because it's the same piece - just rotated.

My wallet is already afraid of this year set list. A tram AND a train in a single wave? And a backhoe loader? And a pizza place?

And (apologies if already mentioned here) based on a polish website, Fan Kloców, there might be a 3rd train set (60509) with 803 pieces.

It's even worse when looking at the current wave with all of those great new sets. And I have to buy some older sets which I missed due to yet another break in collecting....  :ugh:

I reckon 60509 is the passenger train

I am expecting a very noticeable difference between 60480 and 60385. The part count is pretty much double, the size will clearly be bigger (but not double of course), 60385 was admittedly a bit skinny for 20 $/€. This one I'm expecting it to be 30 $/€. I'll explain why:

60498 can be used as a starting point, and the resulting backhoe would be very similar but superficially different, sort of a recolored (in Bright Light Orange) 60498 with modified cabin (and other minor details) and with the attachments strapped to it.

60498 has 204 pcs and 60480 has 301 pcs so about a 50% increase. I don't think almost 100 pcs will go into the attachments (the front bucket will surely be the one from 60287 and 60385 and the back bucket may be the one from 60420 and 71513 although it's pretty big). So there must be something extra. Another worker minifig (like in 60385) -> also a $30 with just 1 minifig doesn't sound good at all. There's probably some side build (again like in 60385) to provide a play scenario (unlike in 60498 which relies 100% on imagination). This way I can see the set offering much more play value than 60498 but at the same time being a sort of upscaled and better polished 60385.

To be honest the most economical for TLG is to reuse the tire config from 60498. Two sets being produced at the same time, that is the best approach to keep costs down.

Regarding looks it also depends on the model(s) used as inspiration/reference, it's not like they're all the same. So they could get away with it.

But if I'm indulging the possibility of them using other tires, I would say 56891 for the front and 55976 for the back. 56891 has smaller diameter and width than 7616 used for the tractor while 55976 has the same diameter and width as 70695 used for the tractor. The best part is that 56891 and 55976 have similar tread profiles/patterns. This way the backhoe can look different from the tractor but just as good for slightly different reasons.

Because we know 60498 looks good and is also a success, and the success is 100% due to looks because there's nothing else, so the backhoe can also be successful due to its looks but on top of that provide extra value with its working attachments, side build and included play scenario.

So the remaining sets with no names

60501 1165 pieces (My City)

60509 803 pieces (Trains)

60512 N/A pieces (Great Vehicles)

Any predictions?

I'm hoping this backhoe introduces new pieces for a 301 pc count. Vertical or rigor lifts behind the rear tires, hydraulics for the front loader/lifts/backhoe(if not possible, then maybe prints or stickers of it), a new backhoe bucket with teeth(2x3 or 3x3 range), and proper front/back tires. Considering TLG is European based, I think they will likely model the Backhoe after the JCB 3CX/4CX and not after a CAT. If it were to be a 4CX, then the front/back tires would be the same big size. I'm so over hyped for this, as I love backhoes!

Based on Technic's history with Volvo, I wouldn't be surprised to see the upcoming sets inspired by Volvo equipment. Purely speculation though.. What I was picturing for the backhoe was the BL71. Either way, I agree that they would have to have a new mold for the backhoe bucket. The one from 60420 would be far too big and 4626 is too small and hasn't been made in over 20 years. Not to mention they don't even use that connection type anymore.
