Makes sense to me though since he didn’t have a bounty on his head, I assume, and thus no wanted posters He was a king in self-imposed exile, after all! 25 minutes ago, Lyichir said: I'm not sure how well the Baroque Works business cards would work as a replacement... if they did them as 1x2 tiles or whatnot, they'd be pretty small... not room for a ton of detail, and without full portraits you'd lose the fun "Lego" aspect of the minifigure-ized posters. True. I was thinking of 2x2 tiles, despite business cards obviously being rectangular rather than square ^^ Quote
BlueLanturnCorp Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I suppose you could do the cards as the wanted poster size. It would make them too large, but if they had less detailed 1x2 tiles for figures to hold and had the larger tiles as separate things to display it could work. Quote

Could work, but then the question is what the cards are in the context of the set The wanted posters work both as a collectible and as the in-universe thing, but these cards would not make much sense in-universe. The chocolate frog cards from HP were also oversized but still worked better scale-wise than giant business cards! Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 25 Posted March 25 According to Unibricks on IG, the sets are getting revealed on April 9th! Fingers crossed that’s true!! Quote
BlueLanturnCorp Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I wonder if we'll get the new hat/hair used on the Monster Hunter CMF on Nico Robin or a possible Alvida? Quote

I suppose that hair could maybe be used for Alvida! Probably not Robin though, her hair is more straight/less wavy, and as a major character they'll probably make her a hair/hat piece of her own. Quote
brickbride Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) Does anyone really expect for us to get Alvida? I don't. She's a comparatively minor character and she'd only fit in the Loguetown set where Buggy, Smoker, and Tashigi are all more popular/viable options. Maybe even Dragon (simply because he'd neatly fit into a scene with Luffy, Sanji, and Smoker.) I very much doubt they'd give us another circus tent right after the first one so I'm expecting Loguetown to focus on Smoker, not Buggy or Alvida. Possibly Tashigi, too, for her duel with popular main character Zoro but like I've said before I could see LEGO skipping her and just putting her in the marine ship. Tashigi could easily be included in the Marine Ship, opening up a slot in the smaller set If Bunny (heh) is in there, I‘d expect Alvida as well. Dragon on the other hand only has a glorified cameo so his inclusion would be pretty strange. Quote

Lyichir Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Thing that just occurred to me... wonder if Robin's Flower-Flower Fruit powers will be represented visually in any of the sets? An accessory piece to add extra arms to her or to other figs could be neat (could even potentially be done without new parts using something like the "minion arm" with Technic pin that appears in light nougat in some of this year's mini Disney Princesses). BrickBob Studpants Posted Saturday at 01:51 AM Posted Saturday at 01:51 AM Pictures of two sets leaked, namely Dr Hiriluk & Chopper‘s Hideout and the buildable Chopper! The small set is fantastic Awesome to see Dr Kureha too! Looks like everyone was wrong, Chopper is neither a minifig nor a baby fig, it‘s a new piece with regular minifig hands and a minifig head! Love it! Quote

After all, the hat doesn’t magically grow in size when Chopper transforms Of course they could have designed two hats, one with the head attached (meaning only one facial expression was possible then) and the other without, but that doesn’t solve the size issue New pics leaked of the sets and we're both wrong, the body is just a new mould entirely! Looks like it's a new toddler sized minifigure body, bigger than the baby but smaller than a child. It has standard minifigure hands and uses the standard minifigure head. Legs might be removable or they're dual molded, hard to say at this point. The sets look great too Edit: you beat me to it lol Edited Saturday at 01:53 AM by strangely Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted Saturday at 02:20 AM Posted Saturday at 02:20 AM (edited) Pictures of all sets are out!! They all look fantastic!! Holy cow!! Dragon, Mr 3, Miss Goldenweek, Miss All Sunday, Vivi, and even the bloody Unluckies?! And I was right, we‘re getting a collectable gimmick with the Baroque Works members, but dossiers rather than business cards Too bad we don‘t get the other Baroque Works agents as minifigs, but the printed tiles are a good consolation prize ^^ Edited Saturday at 02:20 AM by BrickBob Studpants Quote
icm Posted Saturday at 02:58 AM Posted Saturday at 02:58 AM Looks like there's something for everybody here: A couple of late-antiquity/medieval/viking-styled buildable characters for folks who like that kind of warrior and buildable figure A pretty decent gray castle to fill with the faction of your choice, although you might want to buy two copies in order to have a back for it A big sailing ship with two gun decks, although the style is more of an early sailing ironclad than of an earlier pirate ship A modern city scene with a couple of small buildings and a motorcycle A buildable nonhuman character who is intended to look cute and comes out looking cursed A wintry forest hideout for a castle or fantasy scene I am so behind on ships. So many great ships to get, available now. I was able to snag the Temple Bounty without minifigures (I backfilled with minifigures from the 15th Anniversary Minifig Display instead) and I placed an order for the Fortuna, but I'm still missing: the Endurance the Black Pearl the Going Merry the River Steamboat the Maersk container ship Garp's Marine Battleship and the rumored Creator pirate ship coming later this year I'm so behind on a lot of things ... better not list them all Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted Saturday at 06:36 AM Posted Saturday at 06:36 AM I can‘t get over how good these sets are!! I think I might like them even more than the S1 sets While I mourn some of the missing characters (particularly Mr 5, Miss Valentine, Mr 9, Igaram, Alvida, and Dalton), the ones we unexpectedly do get make up for that in my book ^^ And it‘s nice to see them putting every Strawhat in at least two sets! Now I‘m wondering how many different collectable dossiers we‘re gonna get. My guess is 8 again, even though that doesn‘t even begin to cover all the BW agents Quote
brickbride Posted Saturday at 01:14 PM Posted Saturday at 01:14 PM (edited) I'm glad the sets have leaked now so I won't have to read any more answers to my posts saying that of course we won't get Dragon. ;-) That scene with him, Luffy, Sanji, and Smoker was such a no-brainer that I can't believe I was the only one to call it. I was also right that they'd make Tashigi exclusive to the Marine Ship. I don't think the Giants or buildable Chopper look all that good but apart from that there's a lot here for everyone. Definitely better than the first wave. That said I'm not sure I'm going to start collecting this theme no matter how much I love the Netflix adaptation. You were also right about Garp, Helmeppo, and Koby being included in the Marine Ship. That said, at least I called Mr 3, Miss All Sunday, and the new collectable posters/dossiers! The Unluckies however surely weren‘t on anyone‘s bingo card Quote
Lyichir Posted Saturday at 02:01 PM Posted Saturday at 02:01 PM I didn't even consider that the collectible feature would be Baroque Works' dossiers of the Straw Hats, what a fun choice! And the new torso for Chopper and Mr. 13 is great! Not sure which of these sets I'll get if any... still don't want to commit to the entirety of another licensed theme. But the marine ship looks good and includes a lot of great characters, so maybe that one? And I'd probably want to get at least one set with Chopper! Quote
Bloquerto Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM Pretty well done sets, I'll get them almost all (I'm not interested in a big buildable Chopper that doesn't even includes a minifigure). I'm very glad we got Dragon, that's the minifigure I wished the most to be included in the sets because if it wans't in the Loguetown set then we would never get him. The new Chopper and Mr. 13's body mould is a good surprise. I like it includes hands because a Chopper fig that can't hold syringes to treat his crewmates would be a terrible miss opportunity. My favorite set of the bunch is of course, the Giants set. A extremely good pack of figures (including the giants themselves). It would be pricey but I can see the potential of buying a few more copies of the Garp's ship and modify to create a fleet of marine ships. Quote
MKJoshA Posted Saturday at 03:31 PM Posted Saturday at 03:31 PM Where is Dalton!?! I seriously thought he'd be in the Drum Kingdom set. Also, this line up shows how badly we needed a Whisky Peak set. Igaram and the other Baroque Works agents could have been included. Those complaints aside these are some great sets. I think Tashigi instead of Dragon would have made more sense for the Loguetown set. And the giants are horrendous. But I'm definitely getting all the sets eventually. Quote

If Dalton was included in the Drum Castle set and a Whiskey Peak set existed, I‘d consider it a perfect wave Still an excellent wave though!! Already worthy of my theme of the year award Quote
Lyichir Posted Saturday at 06:48 PM Posted Saturday at 06:48 PM Some other thoughts I have now that I've been able to think about these sets some more... The Loguetown set with Smoker is surprisingly impressive, they could've easily focused on the battle and maybe the motorcycle but including multiple Loguetown scenes (including the weapon shop and fish market) makes the set so much more impressive. The new pieces for Smoker's projectile fists look cool. Dorry and Brogy look a little clunky but very cute anyway—upscaled characters are always a challenge and they seem to have done a pretty good job balancing detail and playability here. The fig selection here is great as well, wasn't expecting the Unluckies and while it's sad that Mr. 3 and Miss Valentine aren't here, at least they included both Baroque Works agents actually based on Little Garden. Mr. 3's wax house isn't included here but is a ripe subject for MOCs. The Drum Castle set looks amazing, but sadly the fig selection could be improved. It's a shame not to get Kureha (in her cool present-day fit) and Dalton, but I guess they wanted to fit as many of the Straw Hats in their cool winter outfits as they could. Chopper and Wapol look great though! The set with Hiruluk's hideout is very cute and well-suited for play. So is the buildable Chopper (love his cute cloven hooves!). Obviously Chopper is a big deal this wave, as is to be expected of a cute mascot character. Garp's battleship looks great and as the second full seaworthy ship set, will be a great complement to the Merry. I'm glad Koby and Helmeppo are here too for those of us who didn't get the Baratie. When instructions are out I'd be tempted to try to "reskin" this as Alvida's "Miss Love Duck"—both ships were built on the same base during production of season 1, and since I'm a pretty novice ship builder having a base to work with to get things like the scale and cannon arrangement right would help me to try to MOC that (I love brick built hulls but trying to make one from scratch is above my skill level!). Overall, I'm very impressed! I'm not too broken up about what isn't included—if they choose to keep this theme going even between season releases (which they hopefully might, if sales are good enough), there'll be plenty of opportunity to do some of the things they've missed (in fact, you could maybe even speculate they're planning on it—Mr. 3 and Miss Valentine's omission here makes sense if they're considering doing a Whiskey Peak set later). But in any case I'm very impressed by the execution of what they did choose to include. Quote

The fact we‘re getting none of the essential Whisky Peak characters in any of the sets bodes well for a set specifically based on that arc later on, where they could fully take benefit of the missing agents. Had they included Mr 5 and Miss Valentine in the Little Garden set, it would pretty much have spelled doom for Igaram or Mr 9. This way, they could easily include all four of them in a future set! And we also never would‘ve gotten the Unluckies Quote
kevkipo Posted Saturday at 10:04 PM Posted Saturday at 10:04 PM (edited) Every time these sets get revealed it makes me more miserable that this could've been my favourite theme of all time had it been based off the anime They really botched Dorry and Broggy, how did they make them look more like mechas than giants? I was actually excited for that set :( Dr Kureha not in her iconic outfit? Zoro still with that very ill suiting hairpiece and face? And why was a new mold wasted on Mr.13 of all characters! But luckily there's a lot of positives. Hiriluk, Tashigi, Mr. 3, and especially Chopper and Robin are expertly done. I'm so happy Chopper has a new body mould instead of being a small legged minifigure, which would've scaled so weirdly. Luffy's new face, the big teeth smile, is also very welcome. But the LA branding is still enough to hold me back from buying any of these sets... Lego, make an anime inspired Going Merry or Sunny and I will buy several of these sets to accomodate those minifigures. Some are genuinely passable as anime versions of these characters as well. But the biggest eyesores are still Zoro, Usopp and especially Luffy, who bares little resemblance to his anime self (not to the fault of the actor of course, who did a great job as him) Edited Saturday at 10:07 PM by kevkipo Quote
Kaijumeister Posted Saturday at 11:02 PM Posted Saturday at 11:02 PM Not planning to pick any of these up as I’m satisfied with my Windmill Village and Going Merry, but these sets are great! Solid builds and minifigures just like for Season 1, I’m glad the outstanding quality of this theme continues to persist. Quote
