Are we ever gonna get Tales of the Jedi/Sith/Underworld sets? I feel like there's a lot of potential minifig-wise (even if not for vehicles)

Posted (edited)

Ok. All right. I like where this is going. Though I said the same thing about ToTE trailer last year but that turned out to be insanely mid.

But the difference here is that both these characters are ones I like and would like to see more of. Unlike Morgan Elsbeth.

Also why is there more imperial military stuff in this trailer than the entire ToTE series?!

Final thing: why didn’t they save this for celebration?

I really hope so. If the May 4th still did minifigures it would have been fun to see something like a Young Dooku or Inquisitor Bariss.

Yes, that looks really good. I was kind be hoping they would adapt the cancelled arc where Bane and Boba face off but this also looks fun.

They would be great candidates for like an animated Lego SW CMF (sorry for bringing up a SW CMF). If we can’t get a dooku from the films or the clone wars there is literally no chance of us getting a younger version.
Or even if Lego did a 4/5 character packs (like the Hoth and Clone ones) with say inquisitor Bariss, purge trooper or two and the 4th sister or like a Jedi pack with a young dooku, young qui gon and a yaddle in.

LSW is so out of balance and some of their decision making is odd to say the least. you look at all the set potential for TBB and they give us that overpriced ship and an expensive shuttle with all of them in. Even BoBF the fact we never got another set and never got a figure for the Wookiee i think is criminal imo.

there are so many characters, trooper types, vehicle types, droids now in SW that it’s impossible to get every figure in LEGO format (at least not officially and instead going down the customs route).

Also don’t know if anybody has seen but on Legos fb page they are saying they will livestream a reveal for a new set on the 15th. Has to be UCS set. I imagine pics will leaks a few days before hand

The  new animated stuff rarely gets sets nowadays, besides CW all we got was 2 Bad Batch sets and that was it

And 2 for YJA, but those aren't the same so I wouldn't really count them, just thought they would be worth mentioning.

Those also flopped historically badly for star wars sets- at my local walmart we had that second one down from $50 to like $15. If they do count as animated sets, they aren't giving us a positive outlook on getting more.

Honestly the only Tales I've found interesting have been the Dooku ones. I like Ahsoka but she's oversaturated and they just straight up overwrote her book, couldn't get through either of the imperial ones, and neither of these are interesting to me. I've never been all that interested in the more heroic ventress, and Cad Bane's backstory is also something I've never wondered about or been interested in- IMO it kind of defeats his motif of being the "stranger from a strange land" as TBoBF put it, the western villain trope. I like the concept, but the characters they choose have generally been profoundly uninteresting to me. As far as it relates to lego, it's not like it'd be much more than getting the tales-specific costumes alongside Jedi or Imperial vehicles...

I find many of Filoni's characters are starting to become oversaturated. He doesn't know when to let their stories come to a natural end. Ahsoka is definitely the worst of them when it comes to Filoni showing favoritism.

I'm also not a fan of how all of TCW's recurring female villains are now taking the same heroic path either. Its isn't just Ventress. Bo-Katan is redeemed, Barriss Offee is redeemed, Nala Se is redeemed. Even in the cancelled episodes Ventress, Mother Talzin and Aurra Sing were all originally given the same identical death scene where they heroically sacrifice themselves at the hands of another villain to save Quinlan Vos, Maul and Boba Fett. Solo disregarding Aurra's fate from the unaired episodes at least let her remain a villain until the end but it came at the cost of her character being unceremoniously discarded from Disney canon.

Some of these work- Bo-Katan becoming more heroic when her civilization returns to the one she was trying to bring back, Nala Se was arguably never a "villain", etc, but that is a really odd trend and yeah a lot of those characters shouldn't be redeemed. Unfortunately re: Aurra, it's entirely possible similar circumstances occur since Beckett's a known lier.

Silhouette leak is fine- shaping looks good, it seems pretty similar to the 2015 slave one, down to using the same windscreen and the same part at the tip of the "nose". Which is fine, that model was really solid and if their only major change is redoing the shaping at the base with some of the newer parts, it'll be a good model even for 10 years after the origional.

2 inches wider than the 2015 model too; unclear if the height difference is due to the angle of the stand or not. Agreed that the base looks excellent. The use of a pair angled curved slopes of the “trunk” throws off the continuous, rounded angle of the original model.

Can't quite read the plaque, but it definitely doesn't say Slave 1

Looks like Jango Fett's™️ ____, possibly starship but I can't quite tell.

The whole ""controversy"", which precisely zero people ever cared about until they changed the name on the 2021 set, is ridiculous. And if they really wanted to avoid the name (for who knows what reason) then using the proper classification would've been much better.

On the box is one thing, but on the display plaque?

Trunk looks slightly shorter than it should be, but that’s probably because of the angle on the back of the box. I believe we have a winner on our hands! Great looking model.

Because Disney doesn't like that word, "it's offensive to [you know whom]".

How are they going to cope with the fact that Anakin used to be a slave on Tatooine in TPM?

It does, but then it looks better in the photo on the front of the box. It's a really good looking model overall. :sweet:

Whole thing is so stupid. They could've at least called it a Firespray Gunship if they really had to avoid the word slave (since we know from 2021 that it was indeed changed on Disney's instructions). "Starship" just sounds too dumbed down for a UCS set in my opinion.

My first impression is that it's a decent upgrade on 75060 which is one of my favourite UCS sets.  They've made good use of the newer slope pieces and it's clearly more refined overall.  I'm still not sure how it's 2,970 parts though, unless there's a ridiculous amount of greebling on the underside - it just doesn't look big enough!  I'm not too bothered about the colour palette they've used for Boba, but his hair choice is rather odd...

Hopefully LEGO will have a re-think about the current 'black' box styling at some point - it's getting a bit much.

Great work overall, I can't wait to build it!

Some observations from the Slave 1 leaks:

1) The leaker looks to have the set and have built it in their home/apartment. I wonder why they do not upload higher quality pictures?! More curious than anything else haha.

2) The cockpit looks far larger than 75060. I noticed three seats!

3) On the leaked image of the back of the box, there looks to be a seismic charge in the bottom right corner. One of the photos also appears to show a seismic charge function, but it's so blurry I can't tell. Anyone else seeing what I'm seeing?

4) The overall shaping looks to be a substantial upgrade from 75060.

This will be a day 1 buy!

Yes, there appears to be one on the right side of the plaque. I can’t make out the image but I’m assuming there would be a dispensing feature. Set looks fantastic.

Stunning model. Looks so much better than the 2015 version, especially in the compound curves of the base. Can't wait for the playscale version.
