T&N said no modular, not no D2C, right? ;)

Exactly. People immediately interpreted that as "ZOMG another modular DC set is coming!!" when it may just as well be a different Marvel D2C (like the rumoured Helicarrier) or a Batmobile :laugh_hard:

Has there been a recent year with no modular for either?

Hard to say. Their track record's kind of wonky there, though IMO they seem to skew towards the darker end in recent years. Over at HP, the set 76413 from 2023 depicts a scene where a student dies, but the LEGO set omits that particular student. Meanwhile the Malfoy Manor set from 2025 includes Dobby (who is mortally wounded in the scene depicted) and the Hagrid's Motorbike set also from 2025 included Hedwig the owl (who dies in that scene - she's technically just a pet but her death is played like a person's).

And we've had plenty of stuff where characters are killed in the battle depicted- Thanos and Iron Man in all the endgame final battle, Iron Monger in his set, Vader and Palpatine in any Death Star Throne Room set, Captain Antilles in any Tantive IV set (Including a dying face print!), Boba in, at the very least, the 2017 desert skiff,  that sort of thing. I think so long as it's not directly depicting the moment of death, a spider-man 1 final battle epic moment should be fine. (Lego only seems to shy away when it's a kid/teenager dying, which is understandable.)

This would technically be the first year since the modulars started in 2021. That said, I don't think a Helicarrier with, say, 9 minifigs on a plaque (the OG 6, Fury, Coulson, and Hill) would be any different budget wise from the Sanctum Sanctorum or X-Mansion.

I wonder how well the X-Mansion (latest Marvel modular), the Spiderman CMF series (indicator of Spidey interest among AFOLs), and playset Oscorp sell. If all three are doing terrible that might well be it for Marvel modulars. If not they mighr just give us Oscorp a year later (i.e. so as not to coincide wirh the playset) or maybe something from Doomsday (though surely not without gauging interest by giving us some Doomsday playsets first, given the currebt state of the MCU).

Which one is DC?

The same source claims the D2C set is a Helicarrier, and the Batman set is one of the other three. No reliable leaker has commented on the matter as far as I‘m aware, so take it with a grain of salt

Did we ever get an estimate on the (apparently) playscale Baxter Building may be coming out?

I thought that set was a wish? Is it potentially happening/do credible leakers think it is in 2026?

If we're getting the Helicarrier as the D2C in April (which seems likely now that I think about it, given the piece count and how it only makes sense for LEGO to make an updated version), I could see this being the Minifigure Line Up:

Iron Man MK VI (reuse of the Battle Damaged variant from Avengers Tower), Nick Fury, Coulson, Maria Hill (SHIELD Outfit), Captain America (First Avenger Outfit reuse from MARVEL Logo), Bucky (reuse from the Civil War set)

And I could see those minifigures on a plaque, with a black plate showing the details of the Helicarrier.

Basically, I could see the potential Helicarrier D2C being very similar to how TNG U.S.S Enterprise set is (where the set is not Minfigure scale, but the set comes with minifigures on a plaque and a black plate showing the details of the ship)

It’s a shame the 6160 Ultimate Universe is ending before we can get any sets. The best we can ever hope for is Iron Lad showing up in a Hall of Armour at some point.

Ultimates is honestly the my favourite Marvel book in years. Easily a top 3 out of current ongoings for me. If we could get a Comic based battle set or a new battlepack subtheme to introduce these variants of characters, I would love it.

Easily my favourite versions of Jim Hammond and America Chavez.

Wouldnt it be a good move to make a new Spiderverse set for the summer? Seeing as it could capitalize on the CMF and a new Spider-man movie coming out.
Honestly I'd wish for the Spider-verse subtheme to become as prevalent as the MCU sets, it totally deserves it and the universe shows no signs of stopping. Aside from that it's been a looooong while since I've had this much fun collecting a CMF and displaying these colourful and unique figures.
