A lot of MOC's (the MOC Your Bricks one for instance, though I do love that version almost equally) tend to make the Pearl too flat. The LEGO one has the right curve to it, something I noticed when watching the films during building, and it's something I haven't seen many people talking about. I have the MocYourBricks version and yes while it's beautiful, the overall shape of the ship is too flat as you mentioned. Today the Lego Pearl will be arriving and I cannot wait to compare both versions. The Lego version is shorter but more accurate. I love your picture. The Barracuda remake still looks fantastic. The Durmstrang is also a beautiful ship.Really underrated. Not a Harry Potter fan at all but I bought this at discount for €100 and now it serves as a Black Falcons ship. I replaced the sticker shields with Black Falcon shields. Quote

The LEGO one has the right curve to it, something I noticed when watching the films during building, and it's something I haven't seen many people talking about. I did try to add some LEGO ropes I had in storage to the masts to keep them form angling too much forward, but I actually think it's not actually leaning that much, but the construction makes it seem so. The masts consist of separate parts that each are attached to the front of the previous one and with the sail it makes it look angled forward more than they actually are. I looked at my Queen Anne's revenge and besides having the mast be one straight piece, they build the yard arm a bit further outward from the mast the more you go down. This probably also helped with making the sails look wind-filled. The new sails also don't really have the curve built-in the fabric, which make sit bit harder to look filled. I put it next to some of my other ships and I'm surprised how good it fits between them, though the Queen Anne's Revenge does kinda look pathetic next to it, it's definitely a build of the time. I second pretty much every word I've also seen someone post a comparison pic featuring the 10365 BP & QAR earlier – quite frankly, an almost complete absence of a defined forecastle does 4195 no favours, not to mention a non-existent upper deck. We truly are spoiled by the revolutionary design of 21322 Barracuda The part I'm the most happy about is indeed how accurately 10365 manages to recreate the silhouette of the Black Pearl while staying completely within your "bigger playset" type of scale (it's only a section longer than 2020 Barracuda & is pretty much identical in its hull length to the 10210 Imperial Flagship). You can easily mod in the ornamentation of various kinds, can add all the skylights, bells & whatever other whistles – but getting the hull shape, the silhouette right & make it as sleek & seamless as possible is no ordinary task, which Mike Psiaki's team has totally knocked outta park here Quote

I'm not sure when the Mike Psiaki one was last updated https://brickset.com/sets/list-9961 The Death Star is listed as under César Soares: https://brickset.com/sets/list-21078 Quote

Nice! That's also a great set from him. Very underrated. Bought that one at a discount for €80 in 2022. It felt like stealing from Lego buying at that price. Such a shame it didn't do well. If it had a Starwars logo on it , Lego would sell it probably for €150 and it still would sell out. Quote

Titanic is also a crazy good entry from him, he truly has a unique feel on how to make some fine angles, sloping & shaping overall If anything, I hope TLG keeps him assigned to PotC ships moving forward, the techniques are only gonna get better & in the case of the Flying Dutchman's front section crazy angle work will come in handy big time Quote

Highly recommend this rebrickable MOC for the QAR. Makes it a much better set and display piece. Just now, kuzyabricks said: Highly recommend this rebrickable MOC for the QAR. But I feel like the old hat still fits that old figure style well enough. I actually prefer all the old figures. That 2010-2013 style of real life figures (LoTR,PoTC,Lone Ranger, Prince of Persia, HP) has that realism that I just loved. The new figures don't scratch that itch. Quote

I noticed it mainly with Barbossa and Gibbs, the more expressive alternate faces are better, unfortunately Barbossa's the cursed one, which limits it uses. Quote

It's a solid 8.5/10 for me. To access the interior you have to take some things off the deck, and in my case the cabin doesn't always sit super flush but that could very well be a me issue On display it is gorgeous and actually looks like a proper pirate ship unlike the original 4195! Agreed! Gibbs is the worst offender in my opinion, the old one is my third favorite figure of all time! Quote

I did it with the hype of Dead Men tell no tales, thinking they would release their older sets but instead we got the silent Mary. I wish I stocked up on red coats, captain’s cabin and the wooden jack sparrow. Quote

I have the following MISB sets that I'm thinking of selling and just going with the new Black Pearl set: 4184: The Black Pearl 4193: The London Escape 4195: Queen Anne's Revenge 71042: Silent Mary I bought the first three sets on the tail end of their sales, and even think 2/3 were discounted. I just never got around to building them as I had other sets to build, didn't have the space, or had other things going on. There's just a conflict in building these when I have some already terrific ships like 10210 Imperial Flagship and 1322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay and am drooling over the new Black Pearl. Quote

Silent Mary is a fantastic ship. QAR can be modded into a better ship as I linked above, I would personally keep the Dutchman figures from the Pear. London escape is a childhood favorite of mine but that one isn’t as beloved as the others. I would personally keep most of these and build them. Gorgeous ships (apart from the old Pearl) Quote

A lot to consider... Quote
