I don't think that sort of reference usually means anything. Daredevil was referenced in an Infinity War set, and I doubt they were planning his inclusion in the Bugle 3 years out. Kingpin was referenced in the bugle but hasn't shown up since.

I thought it was a different piece at first, but comparing the two they look identical to me. That said, I don't think it actually means we're getting a new WW. She'd have to be RIGHT around the corner if the mold was resurrected for her as opposed to just fitting the character the CMF team wanted to make.

As for the classic superman hair, it never actually left circulation- it was used pretty commonly in the early 2020s and of course has shown up recently a few times (though oddly enough not on superman himself last year.)

What difference are you seeing? I've been comparing the two and they look identical to me, though it's a little tough to make out exact details from the BL images of the black hairpiece.

I may be wrong but I believe licensed technic sets "count" under the technic theme rather than the license, so there's no concern of that. But we could also just not get a large DC set this year.

My guess is still something like a UCS BTASmobile, though.

I see. I hope its a modular Superman or Batman,  but then they seem to be flooding the market with vehicles, so can see another D2C batvehicle.

really surprised we have not got the minifguare scale bat pod, the bat vehicles, or a D2C play set based the DK Trilogy.

Forget buying, most kids couldn’t name any of these.

Hmm, alright.

Unfortunately, that's the truth of the matter. If even superman's getting his $15 set retired early, nobody who isn't named Batman stands a chance.

The only sales would be hardcore DC fans who buy all the batmobiles anyway, and anyone willing to spend $23 on the "it was me, Barry, I *insert hilariously petty action*" meme.

Alright, noted.
It's just... I remember people saying kids like things with bright colors and such, so superhero minifigures in general seemed like a good thing for that.
I take it that notion (kids liking bright colors) is not the case anymore, or not nearly enough anymore?

And regarding LEGO's choices, could it be said they created their own sort of vicious circle by choosing only Batman related minifigures and sets?
My point being, if LEGO would've kept making general DC sets with lots of superheroes and their sidekicks and villains and whatnot, regardless of movie popularity et cetera, would the decay of interest in DC LEGO not have gone this fast?

Or am I missing a lot of points here?

No, I think that's still true, it's just this is IP land, kids want the characters they see in cartoons, games and movies. Every DC set is competing for kids attention with every marvel set as there's a lot of overlap with capeshit. Kids will take Spider-man or Captain America over Superman most of the time, Batman however is DC's big character who doesn't play the same game as every other hero. Batman is an exception to most rules with superhero crap as he has more DNA with detective and pulp heroes of the 40s. It's why you get more big actors, directors and such who usually wouldn't touch superhero stuff wanting to do Batman projects than even an equivalently popular hero like Spider-man.

Tldr, even if every DC character was grey or Batman wore his rainbow suit in sets nothing would change, colours aren't the issue, DC not being an in trenched brand in the way marvel is means sets don't sell as well, Batman is an oddity toyetic and popular enough to survive this

Thanks for the elaborate explanation!

Captain Obvious Alert: I think it's just an enormous shame. Overall, DC has SO much potential. I think of plenty of sets they can make and new minifigures and varieties based on different outfits they can produce...
Oh well :sadnew:
