Nice that we have 20t clutch gears of that sort, las time they appeared was in the nacsar camaro if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, Kawasaki Ninja (has also green clutch 20 tooth gear) is IMHO mid size set / mid price range...

Bush plane is real nice set; lots of gears, usefull parts like thin liftarms, panels and on top of it new liftarm 9 studs long with altetnate pin holes.

Made some more progress on the plane with the help of the part inventory. I'm 99% confident about the build. Same link as before for the Studio file.

Here is a partial part list of this set found in lego website :).

Even for me as a native speaker, these German parts names are quite strange ("Schnapper"...).

Furthermore, they are often far away from the more or less accepted nomenclature used e.g. in this forum or on bricklink.com

To make things worse, the names obviously weren't checked for basal correctness before made public ("Panel" vs. "Paneel", "Buchse" vs. "Busche", "Rotorblad"...).

Well my google for some reason shows me first the german page and not the finnish page so it was faster to go to the german website to take these pictures and i dont personally speak german or understand german:)

The subject matter (prop plane), simple but effective functions, and zebra stripe decals all combined give me a lot of 90s Lego nostalgia. Feels like if Islanders, Outback, and 90s Technic had a baby.

It's interesting to know that it would have been so easy to add separate flaps and ailerons, would have left less of a glaring hole in the back of the wing as well, but I guess they did not due it to simplify play, too many posable parts may get complicated as well maybe.

A bigger pity is that it does not have a rudder on the tail, that's kind of a more well known piece even for kids. I guess it would have been difficult to solve it while having a good looking shape as well, but yet another example where a 6L beam would have simplified things :) Actually the 6L half beam exists in white..

Wouldn't it be cool to test if it flies by throwing it out the window (just saying...)

Every lego set can fly If you throw strong enough

Well i did do a little modification to the bush plane because im left handed and this model was designed for right handed peoples so i had to switch the gear rack and now it is working perfectly for left handed peoples:)

I composed a simple rudder setup for the tail:

For me it is not necessary to have a fixpoint at the lower end:

I have also reduced the unsightly hole in the wings by adding a 1/2 beam (7M) to the 'flaps':

This is a nice, elegant fix. Good work!

I did some more modifications to my bush plane:

1. 4-blade Propeller based on this part to have adjustable pitch. This will allow to generate airflow during rotation.
(This may reduce the spinning time as some power is used to accelerate the air)

2. Bigger tail rudder (than previous mod)

3. Red & green lights at wing tip and clear one at tail.

4. extended support for tail wheel to raise it by 1 1/2 stud.

Review - LEGO Technic 42198 - Bush Plane

The LEGO Technic 42198 - Bush Plane is an excellent small-scale Technic model that delivers a satisfying building experience with great playability.

Build Experience
The build process is very enjoyable, striking a great balance between complexity and accessibility. It offers a fun and engaging assembly without being overwhelming, making it ideal for both newcomers to Technic and experienced builders looking for a quick and rewarding project.

Design & Aesthetics
Visually, the Bush Plane looks fantastic. The combination of Technic beams and panels gives it a rugged yet realistic appearance, fitting well within the adventure and exploration theme. The colour scheme and details add to the appeal, making it a great display piece even at this smaller scale.

Functionality
One of the highlights of this model is its proper Technic function—the moving propeller and pistons, which operate using a mechanism similar to the 8232 Chopper Force set. This mechanical feature adds depth to the play value and makes the model feel like a true Technic creation rather than just a static display.

Value for Money
For its price, the Bush Plane offers exceptional value. It packs a lot into a relatively small set, from a well-thought-out design to functional mechanical elements, making it a fantastic purchase for Technic fans.

Customization & C-Model Potential
One of the most exciting aspects of this set is its potential as a base for alternative models (C-models). With its solid frame and versatile part selection, builders could easily rework it into other aircraft, such as a different style of bush plane or even a helicopter.

Final Verdict
4.5/5 – A fantastic small Technic set with an enjoyable build, great looks, and real mechanical functionality. Its affordability and modding potential make it a must-have for Technic enthusiasts.

I've just built this set and I've been disappointed by the instructions for the stickers: The stickers on the wings are put after having built both wings.

How is a kid supposed to use the part with the correct sticker when rebuilding it?!

That does seem like an odd choice, but probably not too problematic. I'd imagine most kids would either remember, not care, or just check the box/skip ahead in the instructions.
