Wurger49 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) In the chaotic aftermath of Order 66, Jedi Master Bob found himself on the run from the Empire. A malfunctioning hyperdrive led him to an uncharted planet on the Outer Rim, the desolate world of Caprica. Embracing his Jedi instincts, Bob scavenged the planet for resources, eventually stumbling upon the remnants of a hangar. The squadron insignia, bearing the number 3 and the word "Vigilantes," sparked a new hope within him. Intensive salvage operations yielded enough parts to rebuild a starfighter, combining elements of his own vessel with those of the abandoned squadron. The result was the Viper, a powerful triple-engine craft with a distinctive three-pointed silhouette. The long nose cone resembles the one on the Z-95, a retractable landing struts is built into the nose, system ports and access are built using grille pieces. I used two shields for the transition between the nose and the cockpit. A cluster of 3 engines allows for high acceleration, two side cooling intakes shares the same cylinder design of Incom ones, the top intake is offset and more integrated into the fuselage with a stabilization fin sitting on top of it, built in SNOT. Two laser canons are mounted on the forward wing tips. The small Anhedral wings are optimized for space flights where maneuvering is done by thrusters. The Viper can still holds its own in atmosphere with its high wing load using its great speed and acceleration. With the Viper, Bob hopes to escape Caprica and continue his fight against the Empire. This is my 5th alternate build for the 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter, I am a big fan of the Colonial Viper Mark II from the Battlestar Galactica 2004 TV series. I encountered problems in realizing the design I wanted and had to take a break, then after the model was built, many different versions of the red and white colour schemes were built and tried. Due to the amount of time and effort I spent on this one, this is currently my favourite model. Feuer Zug Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 Interesting rebuild from Star Wars to Battlestar Galactica. The colors are great and it looks good. Quote
MAB Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 The Viper looks great. Some of my first ever space toys (that I can remember) were Mattel Battlesrar Galactica ships in the 1970s. I had a couple of the Vipers and a Scarab. Quote
