A great build: the wall detailing creates a great ruined effect. One critique would have to be that the beach looks a little jagged though: perhaps smaller slopes or plates would help smooth it out. Or, get rid of the offset slopes altogether, and line them up instead. Good work!

I definitively agree, maybe using some curved bricks (like we see elsewhere in the build) would work best?

Otherwise, some plates could be used to make it less jagged.

Maybe the 1x1 quarter tile would work. If you have the pieces remaining, you could just add a few in the gaps between offset slopes to create a consistent flow of the shoreline.

Even 1x1 rounded plates (some call them 'studs') could be added to the sharpest corners, just to break it up a little. It looks less clean, but might be worth it.

The new version looks much better, with a ton of much needed improvements. The additional foliage both distracts from and hides some of the bricks on the jagged beach, so this partly fixes that issue as well!

I concur. A solid build indeed. But since you're already in the 'large' category, why not add a bit of height to the build? A tower would look good, even a ruined one.

Because this remake of the original set didn't include a tower. So I never thought about that possibility.

Nice! Another entry that looks like a set from a theme that we should be getting right now.

I've read that palm tree leafs are lime but on the render they look like this new vibrant yellow shade. Nice usage of that curved panel for this sheet of material but I feel that Steve should figure out some kind of roof over the main part of the structure to get some cover from rain.

In my opinion, remakes are overrated. Why not innovate on an old idea instead of trying to replicate it? But it's a fair point.

And I think it might be good if someone brings an old set into a modern guise. I don't mean that if the number of elements is the same, although that can have a mood. It's when you can bend but keep the character of the original. Also, there are plenty of unique, non remake MOCs being made.

The charm of a lot of these old sets is their originality. I feel that there's no point if the charm can't be preserved, but each to their own, I guess.

Your updated version is far superior in every way. It's like a remake of your own creation. The abandonment and decay and of the building is presented very well and with nature taking it back (until someone came along). It gives me a strong Robinson Crusoe kind of vibe. So many impressive little details!

I'm honestly struggling to find something to fault!

I guess I'll just agree that some curved slopes around the shore would work better.

Well done!

I love this MOC really! I love the old style of the Boxes in your pictures and the building style is just fantastic and reminds of the 21322 Barracuda bay, a fantastic set! I think this MOC wozld work great with that. I line the tent type roof you build out of the technic elements, it gives of a great look!
