The Steam Gauntlet is an exciting steampunk-themed Technic robotic crane which has four motorized functions: swiveling base, vertical lift, extending boom, and gripper. All four functions are powered by a single XL-motor at the base. A smaller L-motor toggles between these four movements. The operator cab features steampunk styling and gear-driven doors. Hands-free operation is achieved using the Lego Powered Up App.

When presenting a model, try to make the presentation a bit more descriptive and include a few images, especially when advertising the Ideas page for it.
Great crane!

Thanks Milan! Still a newbie at posting. I appreciate the feedback.

Sure.
Time invested in making a good post usually results in more interaction.
Good luck with the project

Wow, this is very nicely packaged, elegantly constructed and seems to have robust functions operated with minimal electronics. I especially like the operator cabin, and the way the whole thing rotated on the base. One of the few technic builds that I could actually imagine becoming a set. Great work!

Very cool crane but what caught my attention was that white gear on the right side of the gear box. I have not seen this part before and I can see the usefulness of such a gear. Is this a new element or is it some rare or uncommon part?

The raising and lowering is quite mesmerizing.  Interesting build and great submission.  I assume it will be covered with more steampunkness though?  THere doesn't really seem to be much added at this point...

It's called crown gear. Used for 90' connection.
But discontuined after 2013 because bevel gear is more strong and useful.

About model, I don't know why this thing named to steampunk since it doesn't look like steampunk model without cabin. But model is still good!

Explains why I have never seen it before, I have no sets that old. It may be less useful and weaker than it's counter part, still I would like to get a few. Thanks.

Agreed. More Brass and clockwork please :classic:

This is really nicely done and well presented.  I think the counterweight is a really nice touch.

One question, did you try gearing it to move faster?  Was this the fastest it could reliably move using the XL motor?  One thing to try is to use the large anglular motor (https://rebrickable.com/parts/69730/motor-large-angular-position-light-bluish-gray-housing-black-wire/).  It is more powerful and may be able to support faster movement.
