Hello everyone,

I am deep in my new set, a Classic Space Spaceport. The crafts are almost done (since some time actually) and I need to put all together and make the spaceport itself.

The "big" shuttle, 3 passengers with options inside to turn it into an automatic cargo :

Two small crafts, I guess I can't be smaller within the limits of this style/technic :

And I started a complex building, it's early stage. I have an issue with the size of the whole set, I am on 3 baseplates and it makes me worried :-/

Spaceport 1

The 3 crafts are equipped under with a rail system (I am striving to make that), they don't have landing feet. I based all of this from two classic sets : 6970 Beta I Command Base and 6971 Inter-Galactic Command Base

Yeah the new galaxy explorer provides so much potential for original creations, I can't wait to get my own to crack open and tinker with! Anyway your vehicles all look great, they really look like they could be released as CS 2.0 sets or something! I'm very intrigued to see where your building goes and how it develops. I would be nervous about the 3 baseplate situation as well. Is there a way you could use the building's foundation to try and re-inforce the areas where the plates are connected? That's what I'd try to do anyway. I'm sure you'll do fine, I'm eager to see your progress on this for sure!

To be honest, the building is giving me headache >< I tried a couple of things and it doesn't took nice. It's smaller than I thought once the crafts are around. Well, I'll put updates :-)

Those are nice space craft, but to me it feels the fuselage is a bit too short to contain everything such type of craft should have.
But that's just my feeling. My aesthetics aren't compulsory. :classic:

I got your point, I guess the style back then ask for such thing. Thrusters are short no matter how you look at them, and so on. On top of it, I tried to make the small ones as short as possible, and the bigger one as packed as possible. Because it was like that back then. At least that's how I visualize them

I have other crafts in my scratch book, a long one called Galaxy Express for example and this one should fit more your esthetics ^^

Love these! Especially the big one which looks like an upgrade to the Beta-1 Command Base ship.

You got it right about the Beta 1 ship ;-)

Any updates on this? I'm interested to see what you've got so far! Maybe if you can make the building a bit taller it wouldn't look as small next to the ships but would keep the footprint compact, just throwing ideas out there! :)

I figured out to rise the building on a ground elevation, with a rocky side, and add a level. I'm thinking to add something underground. Connected or not to the building atop of it

I would be happy with ships like this on the shelves.

That's a great idea about adding a rocky side I bet that'll come together nicely, also if you get on Lego Ideas you'll have my support for sure!

We need to make noise for Lego Group to take into consideration bringing back Classic Space.

I agree.  Maybe we need to do something like start a group on Facebook?  I'm all for Classic Space updates.  The Galaxy Explorer 10497 is one of my favorite sets.  I also love the Blacktron Cruiser GWP.  I would love to see more update sets like this.

These spaceships would be great official sets. They have the right shape, size and look and would sell in huge numbers.

I designed them with a Lego Idea in mind, but I don't have enough free time to do all I would like too

I'll put the models on Bricklink anyway :-)
