Lego trains give a lot of fun. I built all cars designed by TrainsWithLight and Perre Marquette 1225 engine. After adding original Lego cars I felt that I miss something. As far as I know Slipping cars had 3 classes: Royal, Deluxe and Pullman.

In the Lego set Slipping car showes Royal and something that can work as Pullman class but Deluxe is missing. I spent this Saturday working on my version of Deluxe class slipping car. It has two compartments with beds and bathroom/toilet. Undercarriage and trolleys ar standard Lego. I found original Lego design a bit unstable so I modified end sections with 2x8 plate holding doors together, I also added small reddish brown dors between cars.

Unfortunately in Studio 2.0 I can't find 1x8 decorated brick nor 1x8 tiles withs printouts specific for Orient Express so renders are done without them. Bricks including decorated ones are ordered and I am going to built it next week as soon as they arrive.

This car design is really fun and it makes me want to add to my set, even though I know it'll get pricey. I'll have to see if prices drop before it goes EOL. I lucked out earlier this summer and found a set with a damaged box at a LEGO store at a discount.

I found the build to be pretty enjoyable and, now that it's built, I'm fine with the size of the engine / details / etc. I found it interesting that while my set had the updated sticker sheet it did not include the new printed city tiles. I assumed they'd be sealed in their own small bag and tossed in on future runs. In any case, i opened a ticket for the tiles and the packing list says it includes a sticker sheet as well.

great news.

can four flanged D11 trixbrix wheels be fitted on a 880011 poweredup train motor? Which trixbrix rod would then be needed? 21344 Sapphire Star motorized by a single 88013 poweredup motor (StijnD MOC-165803) is largely underpowered even on R88 tracks, so do you think that the above suggestion would improve performance (I donot mind changing Whyte notation to 4-4-0 or overall appearance...)

The axles on a train motor are 6 studs apart, so an L48 rod looks like it's the size that connects them. (a regular thin 7L technic beam will also work as its end holes are 6 studs apart).  And flanged wheels with less than 3 stud radius (24mm) will fit - D11 is just barely fine, specs appear to be around 22.5mm radius including the flange.

I wouldn't expect it to perform better than an L-motor though.  Train motors are geared to run pretty fast, putting bigger wheels on will magnify that.  Sariel's website claims 200rpm for L motor, 1250 for PU train motor, and about 10% as much torque.

Well, well, well... I am in the process of gathering parts for this MOC of Orient Express - The Ultimate Collection by TrainsWithLights

If interested, the designer keeps this version of his MOC fully updated (Rev 4 will soon be released). It is quite impressive that he keeps improving the model using at the same time less rare parts from, while the instructions mention all special aspects.

For starters you can modify just the LOCO and Tender....

and if NOT persuaded, just watch the following :)

Enjoy!
