So I was on a 2 week job with a lot of downtime, I travel for work.  Figured I’d build a couple Lego sets as I play catch-up on all the technic pieces I’ve missed out on: the BMW motorcycle, RSR and the landrover.  For me the BMW was the toughest build I’ve had so far, so I bubble wrapped it and barely fit it in my carryon bag.  The Porsche and the Landrover, too big, so I took off their wheels, bubble wrapped and stuck them in my duffel bag checked bag.  And that’s when the fun started.  When I got home they were still “safely” packed in bubble wrap.  But a bunch of parts had come apart on both.

This is basically a whine session for me, because only you guys will understand, but OH MY GOD is it hard to reassemble one of these!   I tackled the RSR first. Looking at a pile of loose parts and figuring out what was actually wrong, and then trying to fix it without taking it apart more was the single hardest building experience I’ve had. Ever.  I’m leaving the Landrover for another day lol.  Anybody feel my pain on this?🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

The fun really starts if it is a MOC, you have not made instuctions/a 3D model for yet. And you have taken it in the back of the car to a show or whatever, and it crumbles into pieces. Then you really have to search where every piece belongs.

Some week ago I transport 8 GBC module, 10262 roller coaster, 10247 ferris wheel and lots of other thing to 267km. Even I did pack all thing with separate bubble wrap and apply super glue to weak point of roller coaster but roller coaster got heavily damaged and other thing also got some damage.

I feel for you. Some years ago I was invited to appear in a well known Spanish TV show with Eva Longoria to show three GBC machines to her in a live broadcast! My part was moved last moment from Thursday to Tuesday. if it would have been Thursday I would have been in the show with Vin Diesel and Charlize Theron!

I carefully packed all three GBC machines in a big sturdy box with lots of 'handle with care' stickers and 'this side up', also in Spanish. The journey was from Amsterdam to Madrid, the box seperately checked in at a 50 Euro rate as special cargo.

I could see the box being loaded in the plane during boarding in Amsterdam and all looked well. At arrival in Madrid I saw the box being unloaded and all looked well. I rushed to the luggage hall, to the 'special items' belt. The box did not arrive yet. Through the flaps I saw something coming, a baggage handler was about to put the box on the bagage belt. I saw him pick up the box and to my utter disbelief, he turned it sideways and smacked it on the baggage belt! Man!!!!!

The result was three destroyed GBC machines of which one very badly and probably beyond repair in the limited time I had until the live broadcasting of the show. Only through very hard work without any breaks I managed to repair the marble run, at the right in this picture with me and Eva :)

In the video of the broadcast you see I had to help the Marble Run because of the damage but all the rest went very well! Backstage i also met with three Harlem Globe Trotters that were also there but did not make the live show, had very nice pictures of that meet. Later that night, while having some well deserved beers in downtown Madrid, my Canon D5 was stolen, no pictures and limited insurance (I found out later). Thank you Madrid for this wonderful experience!

Thanks for this story, and the video. How did the way back to Amsterdam go, did you have to rebuild it once again upon arrival or did it return safely?

It returned safely, even without Dutch decals for 'fragile' and 'this side up' :)

First off awesome construction on the GBC machines second, what is the purpose of them?

The purpose is entertainment and technical challenge in making it as complicated as possible moving balls from left to right :)

I moved my millenium falcon, saturn V, and LUT to my parents' place last weekend. I know both the system models have damage and the launch tower (which is almost pure technic) was in just as many pieces as it started out in. I haven't unpackaged anything though; it needs to move to my new house next month and I'll figure out the damage after.

I'm taking the other display sets next weekend; we'll see if the pattern holds.

What a story, must have been a lot of stress!

@BevHillsTrainer, you triggered a number of nice stories!

Ok i wasnt sure what it was made for (as in a recreation of something specific etc) I understand it was more the technical challenge. I love the raising of the balls feature very cool.

I knew you guys would understand🤣.   And after your story Knight I’ll stop feeling sorry for myself and get on with it lol.   Wow, who knew Lego could be that high pressure 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️😆
