I hear the frustration shot whether or not sets are going to release, but let's not forget that the frustration should be with us and the leakers for going around in circles, and not LEGO in this instance. There are many other things to get frustrated directly with LEGO directly.

I see your point, but the frustration ultimately stems from them not properly announcing the theme. Had they done that with a social media post akin to the Avatar one, nobody would be complaining now. Well, at least not about the state of the DoD sets  The ToD situation is an entirely different beast.

I wasn’t expecting a huge campaign to begin with, but a quick acknowledgment would’ve been nice

As for now I'm simply glad that I'll still have the opportunity to get the plane chase, hopefully for a good price like I did when Obi-Wan's jedi starfighter came out last year (instantly 23 euros on Amazon). I'm still wondering what will happen to that ToD set and for what reason. If it's the religious thing, I won't buy that Raiders set with the Ark of the Covenant because as a christian it does not sit well with me at all that they would make such an object as a toy in a Lego set. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna make a big stink about it and try to get the set cancelled.

I could not care less about religion/religious feelings in connection with Lego..

Why not be made a Spielberg for making the movie the toy is based off of? That makes a tiny bit more sense, after all...

Excellent attitude to have in regards to this. There's of course reasons to find indiana jones toys a bit uncomfortable regarding subject matter, but, like you say, you've got the option to just not buy them, instead of trying to cancel a set for everyone.

I believe he's explicitly saying he's not really mad at anyone, it just doesn't sit well with him so he's not personally going to buy it.

(also, bringing up the creator might be a bad move. I still see comments from people trying to get the entire harry potter theme cancelled because they don't like it's creator.)

I have to agree with you there. I'm also a Christian and I don't condone playing with God's word. But here's the thing, just don't buy if it makes you feel uncomfortable. This may be a bit off topic given the title of this forum, but some people should take that advice as far as the Harry Potter sets are concerned. Stay away from what you don't like. I give kudos to you!

Nobody “got” the temple of doom cancelled! If LEGO chooses not to release it that’s purely internal. There’s not a group of angry Hindus out to steal your legos. They called it Last Crusade and yet the crusaders are still here and active online.

I want the Temple of Doom set as much as, if not more than, anybody. The original was the only Indy set I wasn’t able to get, but this fabricated culture war is so idiotic that I can’t even be upset about the missing set I’m just upset that y’all are taking it way out of context.

I just got to see the other 3 sets recently and I’m in love with them all - the Hovitos Temple is the type of set I dreamed about as a kid. I wasn’t planning on getting that one but if the Temple of Doom isn’t in the cards maybe I will…

OMG the Indy sets got massive price hikes 😬

the plane set is now 40

temple of the golden idol is 170

The lost tomb is 80 DOLLARS! The f*ck is lego doing?!

So our good friend echoalive122_ on Instagram managed to look up the Indy sets in the Target database via the barcodes from the copies they purchased elsewhere, and from this has found what seem to be the finalized official prices for these sets:

77012 Fighter Plane Chase: $39.99

77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb: $79.99

77015 Temple of the Golden Idol: $169.99

The Fighter Plane Chase and Temple are far prices and were honestly what I expected, but $80 for the Lost Tomb is insane. Hopefully it's just a mixup since $80 was the planned price for the Temple of Doom, but then again LEGO could've raised the price BECAUSE of the ToD being removed from the assortment. If that is the actual price, I see this set being a chronic shelf warmer...

Unless you have very specific insight into the situation, I would suggest that no one will know the truth outside of Lego. If the set is indeed cancelled then someone was responsible for that decision, and if it was because something about the set went against their brand values, then it was for fear of upsetting at least one person. So the offendee might not be aware of it, but they might have inadvertently had something cancelled in their behalf. If they don’t release it, they don’t have to release a press statement that says they almost/did put out a set that goes against their core values, again.

Lmao, I could see myself paying $60 for that but $80 is absolutely preposterous. It’s a decent sized set yeah but that’s a bit bunch imo. I mean I’m using my VIP points for the entire wave so it doesn’t bother me personally but still terrible.

Back last summer it was rumored at $150, but it's been known to be $170 since it was confirmed as the Temple Escape scene. I just included it for the sake of completeness.

Yeah, that's insane, I'm definitely not going to buy the lost tomb at that price point. Guess I won't be getting the "entire" wave after all, unless it gets a massive discount. Maybe they needed to compensate now that they lost the biggest regular set? As I've never seen such a drastic price increase from lego themselves. Or at least I hope that's the case, as otherwise it doesn't bode well for things to come for lego in general.

If they’re gonna be like this with prices, I can’t say I’m bothered about the Temple of Doom being cancelled, because I wouldn’t be buying it anyway! 😂

I know Lego makes some bizarre decisions, but surely even they must see making one of the other sets insanely overpriced is a bad financial decision compared to eating the cost themselves?

Collectors ain’t gonna collect if the first wave of sets is already overpriced… at least with Harry Potter’s gradually increasing prices, they’ve already got us hooked!

Granted, $40 seemed awfully inexpensive, but $80?! :laugh_hard: Had the ToD not been cancelled, that one would now be at least $120! Yikes.

I usually find “TLG hates [(sub)theme]” arguments very tiresome, but if someone told me that they have a saboteur amongst them who tries to destroy the Indy revival with all their might, I would now start to believe it :snicker:

Dang. The more we saw of the Lost Tomb I was planning on getting it instead of the plane chase, but not if it DOUBLED IN PRICE?

That's absurd. That's... who in their right mind would do that?

It's like lego WANTS indy to fail.

50 EURO

If that means it's also $50, that'd be fine. I'll grumble a bit, but it's still a fair price.
