astyanax Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 So the large Batwing (set 76161) can be built entirely from the large Batmobile (set 76139). Of course there are differences, but surprisingly few compromises were needed. Obviously the Batmobile does not offer a bubble canopy to put on the Batwing. But many reviewers of the Batwing complained about Lego's canopy solution as well. So I'd say, two wrongs makes a right! In fact I'm quite pleased with how the canopy shape turned out, given the part constraints. Below is an animation comparing this MOC (on the left) with the Batwing of set 76161 (on the right). Most notable differences are the canopy and the dark gray bottom (there just weren't enough large black plates in the Batmobile!). Other than that, I think all shaping and dimensions are in near-perfect agreement. Jack Sassy Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 It's actually a 2 in 1 set, except they didn't tell us that, cause wanted to make more money from selling model twice. How very arrogant of Lego. Just joking. Amazing what you have accomplished with the Batmobile set and probably same cannot be done with Batwing set (only one way to find out). Good job! Quote

Well, for starters, the Batwing doesn't come with any wheels, so obviously it can't be turned into a car...... 41 minutes ago, Jack Sassy said: It's actually a 2 in 1 set, except they didn't tell us that, cause wanted to make more money from selling model twice. How very arrogant of Lego. You said it. Moreover I'll boldly claim my B model is a more interesting build experience than Batwing set 76161. Because there's a lot of sideways and upside-down building going on. This was necessary because the curved parts in the Batmobile were exactly the inverse of those used in the Batwing. ( vs etc.) So a lot of SNOT techniques were required to invert those parts. Quote
