Hello everyone!

I wasn't sure in which forum to post this so in the end decide to post it here,

Anyway, I've been thinking of making a pyramid on a 32x32 tan baseplate, however, this is where my problem emerges:

Pyramids

I can't decide which color to pick, both of them are same size - 30x30. I guess white one could be more historically accurate, due to the fact that some pyramids were in white color and yet I can't decide which color I like better.

What do y'all think about it? Which color do you prefer? I'd surely like to hear other people's thoughts about this.

That's a tough one, and imo it depends on what you're planning to do with your pyramid when it's done. Super-detailed historically accurate display? Go for the white one, to be correct. Diorama inspired by popular culture assumptions of Ancient Egypt? Go for the tan - it feels like the accurate colour, even if that is just because the surface of the stones has worn away through time. If you're just making a pyramid as a standalone MOC, it's less important to be correct - in that case, I would personally go for the white one because there's a greater contrast between the white walls and the capstone, and also between the walls and the baseplate - the tan pyramid looks very monochromatic.

I was thinking of it as a display piece, but couldn't decide whether to make Johnny Thunder era or Ancient Egypt era, I guess you do have solid points on that one. Thanks!

IMO the tan would look better if not so smooth (weathered). The white does look better.

When idea first popped in my mind, I was thinking of making it all out of just casual bricks in tan to make it look weathered, but really liked the idea with doing something different from general pyramid MOCs and use smoother pieces. So I guess you're right about the color variations depending on the state of the pyramid. Thank you!

I think that as a primary colour tan and on some places white and light grey bricks would look the best. Buildings in one single colour will look rather dull and unnatural. But that is only my opinion. It depends indeed in what setting you want to place the pyramid.
Has it to be as real-looking or will it be in a kind of fairy-tell layout.

All has been said - maybe just that to add: As you know, in Ancient Egypt the pyramids of the type you are trying to recreate with bricks were almost seamlessly surfaced with slanted blocks of highly polished white limestone. So that would nicely fit with the white type. When you go with tan, then steps should be visible, as this is how they looked after the surface was (and this is terrible) "removed" to be used elsewhere. And as they still look today.

Go with the white option and be transported back to Ancient Egypt. I say that only for the sake of variety as PQ Scorpion Pyramid was tan on a raised tan baseplate.
