Some time ago I've build a minimal scale control+ 8-wheeler. The shape isn't perfect, but I hope it's interesting:

One thing the new motors definitely have going for them is their effectiveness as structural elements.

I prefer doing small builds over huge ones where bricks are getting to a point of being pixels. It's more challenging to do some mechanics at this scale as well as making the shape correctly, and on top of that, it's something that more people can do when I make instructions for a model (the semi truck tractor has free instructions on rebrickable btw)
