@Lyichir I had a similar problem updating Mario recently for desert pokey, ended up stuck with the Bluetooth download icon. Managed to update him on a different device.  It was almost like the Mario app on my son’s IPad was corrupting the download. Not sure if you have another phone/tablet but trying that may help.

When I tried to update him Mario froze in a "..." state after rebooting him, and even when I did a factory reset and tried updating him again it ended up having the same issue.

I’ve had the exact same issue. The solution is rather simple: just completely restart your device (smartphone or iPad). Afterwards, it should work just fine :classic:

Ah, thank you! The troubleshooting instructions suggested that merely switching bluetooth off for five seconds and then back on would fix it, but clearly that's not enough (at least on the current iOS). Your solution did work!

Saw that StoneWars reported a list of sets that are likely to be retired after this year. LEGO Mario seems to be hit hard? Unless they're mistaken, LEGO is retiring almost all of last year's sets and the early 2021 sets. The Mario Starter Course will stay on shelves, and they didn't mention Mario's House as a retiring set. Of course, the new wave from August is sticking around.

But I'm a little surprised. If those Wave 1 sets are retiring, that means there won't be a way to get characters like Bowser/Toad/Toadette. Some of the classic Mario costumes will be gone. And some of the more iconic locations (like the end-level caste in guarded fortress) will go away while the less-iconic Luigi wave is on shelves.

It makes me wonder what they're working on for next year and whether they'll start changing up the theme? Right now all of the sets have a more side-scrolling/classic Mario feel. But I'd love to see them branch out and start making stuff based on Mario's 3D games (N64, Sunshine, Galaxy, Odyssey).

Hopefully there will be a cheaper way to get Bowser, cause my kids never saved up for that big set.

I think they’ve finally reached the point that so many different sets are produced each year that the EOL status has to forcibly be reached much sooner, just to make space on shelves for new products  Monkie Kid for instance has reportedly been removed from all German stores (except two) simply because they ran out of shelf space and that theme probably was deemed the most expendable one.

Looking at the sheer amount of Mario sets we’ve got in just a year, it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that a lot of them will retire soon to make space for wave 4

Oh definitely! I completely agree, and LEGO is just making SO many sets these days.

I just think it's interesting that the stuff that will be on shelves won't be as iconic to Mario as Wave 1, so I'm curious what's coming up.

This is also just a weird line of LEGO sets because all the characters are brick-built. It's not like they can throw a Bowser minifig into another set, y'know? For instance: does LEGO change up the build to make it more interesting for people who already have Bowser?

It'll be interesting to see how this line evolves how that sets are retiring.

Next year is likely to be a big year for Lego Super Mario, given that the Super Mario Bros. animated movie is coming out then. I fully expect to see quite a big assortment of sets to tie in with that, likely including a number of the classic characters (even ones from retiring sets). It's not unlike how several of the recent sets have included some of the same figures who debuted in the Wave 1 character packs (like the Spiny, Fuzzy, and Bullet Bill). Heck, the Swoop in the Wave 3 pack (and arguably the Boo, albeit with a different design) is an example of the reverse—a figure from an earlier set being rereleased as a standalone figure.

Bowser in particular is almost certain to return in a later set in some form or another. If I had my preference, I wouldn't mind a set with Bowser in his "Koopa Clown Car", with Mario able to take his place in the clown car and swoop around like he can with the cloud from the starter set or the broom from the new airship. If they did release Bowser like that, it's entirely possible that his build would have to be modified to make him fit into the clown car properly.

Good point! If that movie is still coming out next year (we've heard so little about it!) I could see that being the way we get minifigure sets, too. In which case, it makes sense that you wouldn't want two versions of some locations on the shelf for two different versions of their Mario lines. But I'm probably just getting my hopes up too high!

That is also a great idea for bringing Bowser back in the digi-figure Mario line. Love it!

So is this D2C rumor actually true? I'm starting to worry a bit not hearing anything, especially if it's supposedly coming out in September.

Almost every reliable leaker under the sun has confirmed it, so it’s definitely coming :classic: Besides, late reveals have become pretty frequent lately. The NES for instance was leaked on the 13th of July 2020, so one day before its official reveal and less than three weeks before its release.

Well apparently it’s coming out in October, according to FF. Hmmm. I guess any news is good news as of now.

Well, that explains it :shrug_oh_well: So it should be revealed (or leaked ) within the next month

I wonder if it was hit with production delays? There was a VIP Mario promotion on the LEGO Store calendar that was removed in an update, and I wondered if that had something to do with needing to delay things for this set's release?

Or, maybe October had a gap in a D2C set and so Princess Peach's castle fit in best there? Just glad to finally have some more info.

Speaking of the animated Super Mario Bros movie…. I wonder if there would be Super Mario Bros CMF? Just like Looney Tunes CMF when there is Space Jame: A New Legacy movie this year. However, honestly, I don’t think ti would happen tho. I mean other than humanoid figures, such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Wuigi, I don’t think there will be enough budget to make newly minifigure-scale molds for Yoshi, Toad, Boo, Bowser (way big…), and a few more I can’t think of.

Another D2C set scheduled for October, the CAT bulldozer, just leaked, so Peach’s Castle can’t be that far behind :excited:

So exciting! I know this probably won’t happen, but I really hope they use something different than the black 18+ boxes for this set. That would be a really bad fit.

It’s honestly so disappointing how ugly the black boxes are. Imagine having a box with Mushroom Kingdom art on it. Would look so nice

What, are you collecting boxes?

I mean, I don’t usually keep boxes in storage at home. I don’t see any big deal with black boxes myself.

The collaboration between the VIP program and myNintendo (that some thought to have been cancelled or postponed) has started today with two silver keychains and the chance to win some sets (plus golden keychains).

On s@h, you can get a Luigi keychain for 500 points and on myNintendo, a Mario one for 400 platinum points. Also, if you happen to have an account on both platforms, you can receive points for the other one (250 for s@h and 200 for myNintendo)

Wonder what the golden versions of the keychains will be worth, given that they‘re exclusive to the sweepstakes it seems

You are not just alone. I am waiting for Super Mario minifigure-based sets OR at least CMF.

Appreciate the heads up, have just got the luigi one, but, couldn't find the Mario one on the Nintendo rewards page... (unless you need the 400 platinum points to be able to see it...?)
