I wonder what are the functions. Steering and propellers obviously, but is that it?

What else would you expect a hovercraft to do? Boil your dinner? Do research? Play music?

It has probably wheels that drive the propellers, and the steering should steer some other wheels and change the direction of the propellers also. The fan is not driven unfortunately as it seems.

At least that. Doing laundry, looking after my kids and fixing global warming would also be nice.

So a modernized 8824. Nothing wrong with that I guess.

Perhaps to have small fake engine...do not underestimate boiler; one college at work has a problem because he stood in the wrong line, so he become boiler (and has trousers problem) and I become tiles (ABS...)...

8824 was one of my favorite sets as a kid, i cant remember how many times i swapped that thing between A and B model, i liked both versions quite a lot.

On this one, i kind of miss the bespoke skirt parts, i realise that TLG doesnt do bespoke parts on regular technic sets anymore, but the skirt on this hovercraft looks really awkward, bowed in 2-3 studs in the sides, and then perfectly straight down in the bow and rear corners.

feature wise i suppose stearing and driven props are fine, cant really think of anything else a hovercraft this size should do.

Yep, I had that set too and still have it, though I liked the helicopter B-model more, or at least remember keeping it assembled more. I also liked the skirt parts, though I never got really around to finding a good alternative uses for them.

The skirt is indeed kinda awkward on this, the curves just don't flow well. It's also orange, which doesn't sit well with my parts collection, but of course that's my problem and not a fault in the set.

As I_Igor said, a fake engine would be a nice touch here, you don't see them to often in other sets than cars and sometimes in construction equipment.

So this is what they have done with the 42113 parts

I think so too. Now there must be some model left in dbg color to get rid of the remaining Osprey pieces left in TLG's stock :laugh_hard:

It is bigger and has more functions than 42002. It looks like a real type of hovercraft, which 42076 did not. And it is not some obscure racing vehicle that most people have never seen like 42045. This is exactly what we need! I really like it and will definitely buy it!

for some context, this is apparently a €30 (so $25-30?) set, so for that it looks like an excellent little set, decent features and some interesting parts. Seems like a worthy replacement of the rescue helicopter to me.

The only thing i can really mark against it is the skirts looking awkward, but ah well, at least we get more 3x13 curves in black, and we will get a B-model presumably

How to transfer drive from engine thing to propeller? Need least 4 axle but as far as I know, studded axle's max length is 3 and 4L and 5L can't drive those propeller unless the propeller is new axle hole varient.

that propeller part looks like 92842 but it has pin hole. to drive this with gear, need 1/2 pin with some bar part or studded axle or pin with 2L axle part. like 42092's tail rotor.

My guess: pin long with stop bush + 3L axle

Nah, that would mean that the DBG dish piece would rotate as well. I reckon it's a new version of the propeller with axle hole. Then a 5L axle.

Do we think the rear props swivel when steering? It seems the 11L black beam at the back has LBG pins connecting to 3L beams that hold the prop assemblys, but I don't see how that beam moves with the steering, as there doesn't seem to be any other pins in that beam?
