So if any of you were on this page, you'll see that I mentioned that I had built a MOC Uniform Store. Its not as good as some of the other MOC buildings I have seen because the back is exposed for playability's sake. Then another member of this forum wanted me to post pictures of it. So @Pdaitabird as promised, here is Jack O'Trades' Uniform Store. In case you guys don't know who Jack O'Trades was, he was this character from the Lego Island saga. In the first game, he was a member of the Flying Legandos and in the second and third, he owns his own shop. That blue building that's not too far from the gas station to be exact. So without further to do, here is a picture of the front of the building.

This is the front of the building. I got some Xtra stickers at the Lego store one time and I have finally found a way to use them. Unfortunately, I don't have any stickers of clothes at this time, so I had to use the stickers that are supposed to represent post-its under the sale sign and pretend that it was talking about clothes. I also utilized one of the "OPEN" stickers to indicate that its opened. No worries. The corona virus hasn't hit my Lego town. In my town, we've shut down borders so business can run as usual. The flat pieces in front that are supposed to represent sidewalk were initially going to be all smooth surface. But I decided to use some studs so that I could put a little person on the front. I plan to add a street lamp to it soon too. Of course, you can see on the top floor where the models are on display. The dummy heads are really just heads that I don't need turned backwards so that they would look more like models instead of actual people. The top floor is wall free and is all windows that I got from a hospital set.

This is the top floor where people can shop. Unfortunately, I don't have enough pieces to make the entire sales floor (adding fitting rooms, folding cubbies, shoe departments, etc), so imagination will have to be used for this part. At least I was able to take advantage of those annoying vent pieces and use them as stands for the dummies to stand on.

So here is where a customer checks out. The camera over there records everything and you can turn it around on that stilt if you want. That desk is also where the cashier is too. A security guard would stand next to the camera. In the middle is none other than a metal detector/theft prevention scanner. It can detect any type of deadly weapons on you or it can scan an unscanned item to tell if you were stealing. I used to be biased against those sirens on the 2019 police and fire vehicles, but I'm glad I got one now as I was able to use that piece to its full potential and I could pretend its going off when someone is trying to steal something or bring a weapon in the store. Oh yeah....it can also detect contraband items such as drugs or lighters.

So....let me know what you think in the comments section. Chao!

Looks good! The open back gives it a nice playset feel, and I may just have to steal/borrow that technique for the cash register/computer!

Yeah! Since my town is full of mostly City sets, I thought I'd build this building to fit that standard. I actually plan to build a pizzeria and a grocery shop next.

I'm sorry @Brandon Pea but I can't see the images you've apparently posted. Could you post to Brickshelf or Flickr?  I look forward to seeing what you've built.

They were uploaded from Google Photos. Do you have a smart phone? Maybe you can look at them from there.

@TeriXeri @jimmynick Can you see them now?

Yes.

I do like it, while I haven't MOCed my buildings yet, 16x8 is the main size used for those 3-in-1 sets of 2017-2018, I know this building is 16x6 but that's nice as well with the little sidewalk.

The use of the Siren part and camera are nice.

Buildings in sets like this as well are 16x6 (with a 16x8 base/roof) , I might turn that highrise into an actual building at some point.

Sets like this as well :

Thanks for the feedback. It's good comments that encourage me to do more MOCs and bad comments that encourage me to do them better than previous ones.

I have been meaning to obtain that building. Unfortunately when ever I get ready to, I see something else. Next time, I'm buying thus no matter what.

I'm liking it so far. It's a building that usually isn't seen, be it a store like Party City for Halloween-style uniforms or something you'd find more similar to where people would by scrubs for working in a hospital. So A+ on that.

Personally, I prefer the modular style of buildings, but that's my opinion. For going for the 3-in-1 and more classic style, you've got that down. I echo what TeriXeri said about the bases being 8x16 rather than 6x16, but that sidewalk is pretty nice. I would suggest going for the full 8x16 for the floorplan, and then add another layer of plate at the bottom to extand out by two studs for the sidewalk. It would also give a built in curb for city streets.

The stickers are a great touch, and smart idea of using the camera for security. And that radar piece for the metal detector:thumbup::thumbup: And as Pdaitabird pointed out, that cash register/POS system is ingenious. Usually I've seen and used them with the 1x2 and 2x4 rocker pieces, but I think yours gives a modern feel.

My biggest suggestion is texturing. I know LEGO doesn't make the 1x2 masonry bricks in that blue, but I think just a bit of color variation or part something to break up the single wall plane of wall-to-window-to wall would really help and make it pop. The gray floor helps, but I think some SNOT bricks with tiles going up the side would really help it not blend in. If you do more builds in a city layout, then I don't think it would be a big problem, but by itself it makes it sort of "one note" to say. Just even tile going vertically on the first level would look cool.

Yeah, I like it! It's always nice to see MOCs on a smaller footprint like City sets, as @TeriXeri has pointed out. Have you considered putting a bit more of a roof on it? Thanks for sharing!

As the days go on, I usually upgrade my MOCs. I'll definitely take that into consideration. Thank You!

Nice little build - I like the classic open back style but I agree with others about using the full baseplate for the building to give you a bit more interior space. The "uniform shop" idea is a good way to use up spare minifig torsos and the use of the vehicle light bar for the security system is very clever!! (although all those security measures make me think your town must have a crime problem!!)

I plan to upgrade it to a 16x16 baseplate for more space and I plan to add a third floor for fitting rooms. I actually added the security system for another reason. Reason being, there are people who love to impersonate officials and scam people. Those same people get upset when they have to show proof that they work for a certain company. So that's why we kinda have it that way. Otherwise, I like to put some humor in my builds like a tantrum throwing child at the Townhouse Toystore or a tired bellhop at the hotel.

Anyhoo! Thanks for the feedback. Its amazing people like you who encourage me.

So that's why there are so many cops in LEGO City! Everyone is pretending to be a cop and just manages to get a cop car:laugh:
