I doubt LEGO would do a Hunger Games set, the content doesn't seem appropriate.

Agreed. No offense to @TobyTheBuilder64, but LEGO depicting young adults and kids killing each other for entertainment of the ruling elite is not exactly a mess LEGO would want to get into...

I recently advertised my current project in the other Ideas thread and completely forgot we also have one for licensed projects specifically, so here we go!

If you wanna see The Emperor‘s New Groove potentially join the ranks of the previous Disney Ideas sets, please consider supporting my project! Thank you very much!

Iconic 1996 Movie Twister - Educational Purposes

This build can help people to learn more about how tornadoes work. The shape of the twister shows how mighty and strong winds creating powerful destruction in their path. The debris flying around (bike, cow, roof panels) reminds us how dangerous tornadoes are in real life. Storm chasers like the characters in the movie collect weather data to help scientists understand these storms and warn people early.

This design shows the power of a twister and the chaos it brings. I hope this build reminds people of the movie Twister and also inspires kids and fans to learn more about weather—and to create their own ideas with LEGO bricks

We have to get a Lego Futurama set soon, there’s now been 3/4 sets on Lego ideas that have made it to 10K supporters, surely Lego can see the draw is there and then some to make a set based on it.

@Legoman123 it's usually an IP conflict. Futurama would sell really well. The good news is that LEGO Ideas have just introduced a new system so if they like a set and there's an IP conflict that looks like it could be eventually resolved, they park it, so the submission doesn't have to go through the 10K process all over again.

Sorry when you say park it what do you mean? Like they let it go through until they obtain the IP?

Also why is there an issue with the IP?

The idea of the “parking lot” means they give themselves more time for decisions. A project can end up there for up to 3 consecutive periods, i.e., an entire year  Negotiating licensing agreements is a potential reason why a project might benefit from the additional time, but I’m sure there are others.

Technically, the concept isn’t new since they’ve delayed decisions before, but now it has a name and is handled more formally.

Okay that makes sense! To be honest I don’t think it’ll pass through LEGO ideas anyway but I do think LEGO will do it off they’re own back and make Futurama like they’ve done with the Simpsons again and Star Trek and I’m sure other themes to.

Who currently holds the licence for Futurama?

Glad that they are doing Wallace and Gromit (though I'd prefer a minifigure scale set). But let's see if the finished set looks nice

Brickcraft, apparently.

I'm so impressed with this one. The build is wonderful, a really well down display piece. The moving waterfall is included and it looks like the chocolate pipe that sucks up Augustus is included on the left side. I also spot the canopy of the Wonkatania, so that's a welcome surprise.

The minifigures are great too. I'm glad to see a new hat/hair combo for Willy Wonka.

I'm excited for the reveal. I'm hoping they also include the blueberry version of Violet. It would be cool to get some references to the other rooms too.

From the dark and blurry photo it looks like a better build than the original submission, while maintaining a lot of what it appealing, which is great. I hope it's a little brighter and more colourful when the full set is revealed.

Such a shame that they didn't manage to do the same with the Italian Riviera set, which was a very disappointing downgrade.

IMO Lego needs to get a little stricter on what content is allowed on Ideas, there are a few IPs that keep showing up where IMO the content isn't appropriate for LEGO. The Hunger Games for one, also Supernatural (it got an MA15+ rating here in Australia which should be enough to disqualify it IMO). Also The Rookie (again MA15+ in Australia) and Vampire Diaries (more MA15+). Maybe also Schitts Creek (although I don't know how bad the content in that one is)

The base concept of Hunger Games may be disturbing, but the writer of the books turned it into family friendly YA thrillers and the custodians of the franchise did their darndest to make it into family friendly PG-13 teen romance material. It's no less appropriate for Lego than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which features children seemingly dying in all sorts of awful, malicious ways until everyone shows up alright at the end of the story.

Love the set! It’s so vibrant and all the sweets (plus the recoloured pieces like the yellow cups and trans-pink fishbowls) look great! Almost delicious even

And r/grandpajoehate is having a field day with this one :snicker:
