Vorkosigan Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 (edited) I recently 60227 Lunar Space Station and 60226 Mars Research Shuttle. In both sets all of the stickers appear to be about 1 mm offset from two sides, making the designs off center and in some cases cutting off part of the printing. I thought it was a fluke in the first set but became concerned to see another set with the same problem. I also had an issue when I tried to re-position one of the stickers, where the adhesive separated from the back. I have applied a lot of LEGO stickers and never saw that issue before. See the photo below and how close the design is on the right side of the solar panel vs the space on the left. Also on the sticker sheet you can see the leftover color around each sticker is bigger on the right and bottom. Looking at some pictures of the sets it seems like this is a systematic problem with these sets. Have others noticed this and/or seen this problem on other new sets? UPDATE: The replacement stickers I got are properly centered! So this seems to be a fairly limited issue. I also built Rocket Assembly recently and the sticker cutting was fine in there. Bricked1980 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 (edited) I recently picked up the City harvest transporter (60223) and have noticed the same problem with the stickers in that set. Many of the stickers seemed to be more difficult than usual to peel from the backing sheet, almost as if they hadn't been cut out as well as they normally would be. On some of them the adhesive was separating from the stickers and staying attached to the backing paper as well. Edited July 1, 2019 by Bricked1980 Quote
Vorkosigan Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 I don't think my harvester transporter had any issue but I bought it months ago, it may be affecting all recently produced stickers. I complained and LEGO will send new stickers, but I have little hope that they will be any different. Still worth complaining so that they may get enough complaints to flag this as something to look into deeper. I'm guessing they changed suppliers or equipment for sticker production. Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I dont own the other space sets but I can speak for the harvest set. My stickers were cut normal ... Perhaps it was a issue they caught and fixed Quote
ks6349 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 I always avoid putting on stickers because it's hard to keep it well Quote
ks6349 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 (edited) Lego should try to avoid stickers because I think most of the Lego fans hate stickers. It's easy to understand if it's not a commonly used stickers, but if it's a commonly used stickers like Police, they should manufacture bricks instead. I have a lot of stickers but never put on them Edited July 10, 2019 by ks6349 Quote
dutchlegofan50 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 I built 60227 last week. The printing of my sticker sheet was very good centred, but I noticed that the glue was extremely strong. When I tried to reposition one of the large stickers the glue form the sticker was left behind on the part. Never experienced this before! @Vorkosigan: Normally LEGO doesn't replace stickers (at least, that's what I believe), but when you send your picture to LEGO they should make a replacement. And preferably with 4 new dark blue large flag parts to apply them on... :-) Quote

So as long as a set/theme like this City Space is still very new, I don't think asking LEGO would be a problem. Edited July 10, 2019 by TeriXeri Quote

It wasn't possible to include a picture and they didn't ask. UPDATE: The replacement stickers I got are properly centered! So this seems to be a fairly limited issue. JekPorkchops Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Unfortunately this does not seem to be a limited issue. Slightly less than half the sets I received since 2016 have poorly cut stickers. Because I have some serious OCD, lining stickers up perfectly is something that I must always do, and these poor sticker sheets make this impossible sometimes. Quote
ks6349 Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 How do you keep lego stickers its best condition? Please dont tell me not to use it. Quote
