George Lego Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) This is my humble tribute to the Classic Town Promotional MAERSK Truck sets 1651 from 1980 and 1552 from 1985 adjusted to my favorite 4-wide studs mocs. Both the Maersk Blue and the Old Light Grey colors were really hard to find nowdays .. :-) 11 by George Legoman, on Flickr 02 by George Legoman, on Flickr 10 by George Legoman, on Flickr 03 by George Legoman, on Flickr 02 by George Legoman, on Flickr 03 by George Legoman, on Flickr 04 by George Legoman, on Flickr 04 by George Legoman, on Flickr 16 by George Legoman, on Flickr 18 by George Legoman, on Flickr Edited March 26, 2019 by George Lego Quote
Evans Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 That long-nosed truck is very good! There is a bit too much chrome to my taste, but clever build, with all eras of Maersk blue parts. Are the stickers from an original 1980 or 1985 Maersk truck or a reproduction? Quote
George Lego Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 I really appreciate your kind comments! I'm a big fan of the late 70s, 80s and some 90s Classic Town, Legoland vintage sealed sets. Although those two sets (1651 & 1552) were made in 6-studs, I'm also a huge fan of 4-studs wide vehicles. About ten years ago I was lucky enough to get both MAERSK sets per 2 copies. Each one sealed and each one used with complete sticker sheets. I spend hours and money in order to replicate those stickers in as much as possible detailed manner concerning dimensions, colors and thicknesses. I have kept a few sticker sheets like the ones I used in those two mocs. Quote
Evans Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) It's more and more rare to see people building in Classic Town style nowadays, so it's good to see that! Good catch you made back then. These trucks are out of my budget right now, I prefer gathering many parts (especially green and old grays) to build my creations and scenes to put these, and sometime buying a set to complete my collection, when it's a good deal. Making stickers is very long, I also makes my own stickers, I began in 2015 to save on reproductions ones thart are expensive, and don't give the flexibility I want. I have more than 400 patterns now, from 80's sets to custom 80's looking torsos. All I miss are transparent stickers... I'm still an amateur... :) Edited March 26, 2019 by Evans Quote
