Seemingly, we unfortunately  can‘t buy her torso solo at Lego: https://www.lego.com/en-gb/service/replacementparts/sale

But perhaps this is an explanation and gives us some hope.

The status for the torso has changed on B&P: from "sold out" to "add to bag" with the remark "This part is out of stock. If you submit your request, we’ll get in touch to let you know when it’s expected back or to offer you a substitute."

Another idea beside minifigs:

I could well imagine using Hidden Side's set "Lighthouse of Darkness" (set 70431) as a setting for Johnny Thunder & friends - without using the AR feature and the monster parts, but with using the skeleton and the bat and the candle in the cove. It's a lovely set!

The torso is available now on B&P. I have ordered two ... :classic:

When it now seems to be a fact that the Monkey King from CMF 19 was a kind of teaser for the new "Monkey Kid"-theme, can we hope that the new Johnny Thunder from CMF 19 is a teaser for a revival of the classic "Adventurers"-theme?

Expand

I personally don't see Series 19's Monkey King as an intentional teaser for Monkey Kid for certain, as it was rather a precursor to such more in line with TLG's increased focus on the growingly significant Chinese market. As for Series 19's Jungle Explorer CMF, the theme had to do a Johnny Thunder homage sooner or later (though I still sorta wish they made that homage either an outright Adventurer archetype or an Archaeologist).

Then again, the Monkey King isn't the only CMF to seemingly act as a precursor to playtheme inspired after such, as Series 7's Galaxy Patrol from 2012 preceded the following year's Galaxy Squad, so maybe there's something there? I mean, not every CMF was followed-up by a playtheme within a similar vein, so I don't know... :shrug_confused:

You' re right. CMF 19 Johnny Thunder is more likely a biologist rather than an adventurer. Well, we'll see if he is a precursor.

Other topic:

As a new theme I could very well imagine an in-house detective theme (no licensed theme) based on the ideas of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot (I don't know if this has been proposed by somebody on EB earlier). Set in the 1920s and 1930s (post-WW I, Roaring Twenties and Art déco) it could have four good guys:

  1. the private detective or investigator (aka Hercule Poirot with torso and bowler)
  2. his side-kick (aka Captain Hastings)
  3. his brave secretary (aka Miss Lemon)
  4. a police inspector

The constable could be re-used.

The villains (say 6 minifigs) would differ from set to set but would have one "gangster boss".

We would see cars, planes and perhaps motorboats of that period.

(Ok, I have to admit that there are some similarities to Monster Fighters ... but it would be a real life detective theme, no phantasy).

Given that designation, at least that means the Collectable Minifigure theme is still open to a different CMF to properly use the "Adventurer" title.

Well, Lego did develop at least a "Mafia Gangsters" theme in the nineties that was unfortunately cancelled...

I didn't know that. It looks absolutely great. Do you have more information about it?

Apparently BrickJournal magazine had a panel at San Diego Comic Con back in 2009 where set designer @Nabii gave us our first look at such...

The Brothers Brick - Comic-Con 2009 Wrap-Up: LEGO Themes that Never were & Exclusive Set Revealed

  Quote

BrickJournal, the quarterly LEGO fan magazine, had a table that included several adult fan creations and its own fan panel on Friday morning of the convention. One of the highlights of the panel for me was LEGO set designer Mark Stafford sharing some of LEGO’s theme concepts from back in the ’80s and ’90s that were not pursued beyond the development phase, and simply aren’t going to happen as official themes, which is why he was allowed to display them (Above: 1920s-1930s Prohibition theme).

So Atlantis was a Random Set of the Day on Brickset.

I missed that theme but you can actually make atlantis-like figures with the 2019 Space sets by putting the transparent (lightblue or orange) visors on those white airtanks (that use golden visors in sets).

Add some diving fins (Xtra Sea accesoires),Diving Yacht,  and 3-in-1 Underwater Robot  / Deep Sea Creatures and there's a start

Also could add this build from World Fun 2018 :

Won't replace the theme but still can make some underwater action with current sets.

Also 2019 Friends sets could add some more with those summer sets having Ocean Rescue/Amusement park.

Still additional possiibilities depending how the 2020 City Ocean theme and sets like Hidden Side Submarine will look.

I really wish LEGO went back and released some of those old themes that never got released... Maybe the 80's or 90's was too early to make Gangster sets, but I don't think there would be any problem if they released them today.

Honestly, I could see this year's Ocean Exploration subtheme from City plausibly nodding to the Atlantis theme with an submarine archaeology premise, just with Alexandria-like ruins as the focus rather than Eighteenth Century shipwrecks. And if not for 2020, I still could see the next incarnation being open to such. :classic:

Would be a good time to keep using those new underwater decoration parts, likely in different color but still.

Thanks for the advice @Digger of Bricks! I'll be sure to track down one of the red skull uniform for my classic gold-visor OGEL (don't worry, I'll just give him a red hand on the new torso, no delicate transparent-hook transfer needed.) sometime after the tower set comes out in the USA. It will look very nice with my classic underwater base (set 4795 from 2002) and additional skeleton drones. It even has a octopus motif on his belt to represent the mutant underwater creatures he controls!
