The Reader Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Another idea beside minifigs: I could well imagine using Hidden Side's set "Lighthouse of Darkness" (set 70431) as a setting for Johnny Thunder & friends - without using the AR feature and the monster parts, but with using the skeleton and the bat and the candle in the cove. Expand I personally don't see Series 19's Monkey King as an intentional teaser for Monkey Kid for certain, as it was rather a precursor to such more in line with TLG's increased focus on the growingly significant Chinese market. As for Series 19's Jungle Explorer CMF, the theme had to do a Johnny Thunder homage sooner or later (though I still sorta wish they made that homage either an outright Adventurer archetype or an Archaeologist). Then again, the Monkey King isn't the only CMF to seemingly act as a precursor to playtheme inspired after such, as Series 7's Galaxy Patrol from 2012 preceded the following year's Galaxy Squad, so maybe there's something there? I mean, not every CMF was followed-up by a playtheme within a similar vein, so I don't know... Quote

The Reader Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 Other topic: As a new theme I could very well imagine an in-house detective theme (no licensed theme) based on the ideas of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot (I don't know if this has been proposed by somebody on EB earlier). Set in the 1920s and 1930s (post-WW I, Roaring Twenties and Art déco) it could have four good guys: the private detective or investigator (aka Hercule Poirot with torso and bowler) his side-kick (aka Captain Hastings) his brave secretary (aka Miss Lemon) a police inspector The constable could be re-used. The villains (say 6 minifigs) would differ from set to set but would have one "gangster boss". We would see cars, planes and perhaps motorboats of that period. (Ok, I have to admit that there are some similarities to Monster Fighters ... but it would be a real life detective theme, no phantasy). Quote

I missed that theme but you can actually make atlantis-like figures with the 2019 Space sets by putting the transparent (lightblue or orange) visors on those white airtanks (that use golden visors in sets). Add some diving fins (Xtra Sea accesoires),Diving Yacht, and 3-in-1 Underwater Robot / Deep Sea Creatures and there's a start Also could add this build from World Fun 2018 : Won't replace the theme but still can make some underwater action with current sets. Also 2019 Friends sets could add some more with those summer sets having Ocean Rescue/Amusement park. I'll be sure to track down one of the red skull uniform for my classic gold-visor OGEL (don't worry, I'll just give him a red hand on the new torso, no delicate transparent-hook transfer needed.) sometime after the tower set comes out in the USA. It will look very nice with my classic underwater base (set 4795 from 2002) and additional skeleton drones.
