Hey everyone,

This MOC is being built for 2 reasons: 1, to celebrate 3 milestones- Canada's 150th anniversary, Technic's 40th anniversary, and me hitting 1000 subscribers on Youtube.

In fact, a comment suggested I do this. The second reason is to cure the errors that my 2 previous crawlers had:

-weak axles (very weak in fact)

-low climbing power

-messy building

-inefficient steering (used an M motor)

-no additional RC functions

So here's where I'm at right now:

Above is the motor housing. I'm going with 2 L motors for the drive because they have good speed at a sufficient torque.

That is the gear housing. Frames are abundant.

Now the whole front axle. You can see that it is compact and yet very, very durable.

The rear axle.

And the two together. This crawler is being built for max performance but awesome looks. So I want to (but may not) do a Tacoma body:

Update tomorrow, thanks for reading!

Looks very nice!

Thanks!

Good start despite fact that real Tacoma does not use torque tubes, but it is just a chassis

Thank you! I'm not at all going for an accurate chassis, just a bodywork.

Anyway... there will be 1 more update before I might put this on hold.

Here is a chassis outline:

Leave a comment! Thanks.

Why a Tacoma of all trucks :sceptic:

But hey, if that's what you want to build, awesome! It is looking good so far!

Thanks! If you have a better suggestion, please please please tell me. I have no desire to build a Tacoma but Had to choose something.

Chassis is simple. I suggest black rims

Red rims and CLAAS tires :classic:

This is also an option, but IMHO black rims with Unimog tires are most realistic tires for off-roader

Are you looking for just a lifted truck? Or like monster truck lifted pick up truck? I could give you a suggestion for both.

So personally I am a Chevy guy, no Toyota Tacoma in my future :classic:

Here is an example of what I think of when I hear monster truck pick up...

I have wanted to build something just like this, but I think with my bodywork skill, it would not look good at all.

If you would like another example, let me know

Nice crawler! I am a Toyota guy though (Sorry aminnich), so either way is fine.

Thanks! To me, the Tacoma is not the most appealing.

With CLAAS tires it would something look like this but without portal axles

I see. In the end, it will come down to offroad performance. Whichever is better will remain.

That is logical thinking.

UPDATE TIME!

I added a winch and the engine. @I_Igor I havent done the offroad test to choose tires yet, but I will soon.

The winch has a mechanism allowing it to be pulled out easily and retracted with lots of torque.

So that's it. Offroad stuff tomorrow!

I like, but here is my criticism.

  • I like the head lights the most, nice a square (goes well with older style trucks)
  • As for the engine, adding a blower on top would look really good
  • I am not crazy about the grill

Not so much a comment on the body work, but more so on the 'placement of the body on the chassis'.

  • It appear that the body is lifted too far above the chassis.
  • The top of the tire is far below the bottom of the quarter panel

This unnecessarily raises the center of gravity and presents this image.

I started the bodywork. It's rough, criticism please.

It's a great start, but it is a bit too square...

As for the body being too far above the chassis, I think it will look great!
