Alegrispa Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 I know I'm a bit late to the conversation, but I visited both my Toys R Us stores on the second day of the Harry Potter promotion and they were already sold out! And now they're all over a over my countries version of craigslist for 40-60 bucks a piece. F***ing scalpers... Quote
LegoHPbrickfilms Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Have someone heard more about the rumours of the 2019 winter sets? Quote

Roebuck Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Not sure if this is mentioned already (get confused with all the books coming ): I searched for "Lego HP" in a Norwegian bookshop now and got up a hit on a book coming next year; "Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Handbook with Hermione Minifigure" by Jenna Ballard.. Not to exiting, but better than another Harry fig right Quote

Not to exiting, but better than another Harry fig right Amazon UK lists the same book, due for release on 14th May 2019. We sometimes get unique prints with these books, fingers crossed for cat-Hermione from Chamber of Secrets (reusing the Catwoman ‘66 hair and ears). And let’s face it, if any HP character should be included with a book, it’s Hermione! Quote

LegoFjotten Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Or maybe the Half-Blood Prince? Quote
Ultron Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 It could very well be Hermione in a Yule Ball variant perhaps. Unless they'd save that for a CMF Quote
Graupensuppe Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Could anyone who has both of the 2018 Dumbledore minifigures take a picture of the CMF one with the hair piece of the Richard Harris one? I'd like to know what he looks like without the hat. Quote
Don Neimoidte de la Mancha Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Is the series 2 CMF confirmed? Quote

I'd like to know what he looks like without the hat. there are a bunch of pictures of this; search for Dumbledore Lego reddit maybe you'll find them I can't upload pictures here since I lost my imgur account. Anyway, I think it looks good, since the hat (like the beard) is too thick has a bigger distance to the printed beard/sideburns than the Richard Harris hairpiece. However, with just the hair Dumbledore is even smaller, therefore I have mixed feelings. I still use the CMF Elves dress with changed arms - that makes him taller, as he should be Anyway, if you don't find the pictures, maybe I can somehow send you. Quote

The CMF elf was male with legs so what dress piece are you talking about? And in the movies he’s really no taller than anybody else Quote

That makes sense, I guess it would work for Dumbledore, but I definitely prefer his actual new skirt piece In other news, the minifigure leaks have finally begun for Star Wars, I’m hoping for some HP soon Edited September 12, 2018 by Balrogofmorgoth Quote
diepotato47 Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Regardless of what comes next year, having now completed my collection, I have to say, 2018 Lego Harry Potter was excellent. Hopefully the sets have sold well enough to show Lego that the line is worth continuing on in to future years. Quote

At this point, it's very premature to even conclude that Harry Potter is a massive success, and that it warrants another series. I was surprised that I liked it so much simply because of the new animal moulds -- but beyond that, they are decent. Some would argue they are great -- so it would a missed opportunity for collectors and fans alike if TLG decline a follow-up. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 As @Balrogofmorgoth has mentioned above, the minifig leaking season has begun, so I wonder what leaks first: the set names, catalogue pictures or minifigs Usually, it's the order listed above (exceptions include some of the latest SW movies) but it might be quite fun to have the minifigs leak first, leading to us speculating what the most fitting sets could be instead of the other way around *smash cut to the names leaking first* Quote

I think it's safe to be optimistic with regard to current sales figures--at least where I live (UK) these sets are flying off the shelves :) That said I believe the future of the theme depends on the choice of sets in the next wave. The HP and FB films have the most beautiful sets and countless locations that could appeal to fans of other Lego themes. While the first wave had crossover appeal it seemed to mainly target Potter fans and focus on the most iconic sets in the films. If they continue to release similar sets, will people continue to buy them with unending enthusiasm? I do hope that the next wave will include a set with major crossover appeal like Diagon Alley, and that future waves will also consider less iconic locations--my instinct tells me that something like a Hogsmeade set, or, even more far-fetched, Shell Cottage, would sell better than triwizard sets or more quidditch stuff and so make it more likely for the theme to continue. The Great Hall and Hogwarts Express sold out at my local Lego shop in a few days (and the Hogwarts Express was out of stock online until recently). According to Lego store staff, the minifigures are the most popular they've ever had. At my Lego group on Monday night, pretty much everyone was raving about the sets and the minifigs. All of this is anecdotal of course, but I think it's pretty safe to assume these sets have been a success. As for this winter's sets, my guesses are: 1) Hagrid's Hut. This is a popular location, and it would fit with Aragog's Lair and the Whomping Willow in providing grounds for Hogwarts. If we're lucky we'll get a new Buckbeak, or (if they focus on the early books) maybe Fang, Fluffy or Norbet. 2) The Chamber of Secrets. Lego are probably still going to focus on the early books, as they don't want to rush through them. This is *the* iconic location from Book 2. My only doubts about this are that (a) we already had a Basilisk in the Great Hall set; and (b) the Chamber would ideally go underneath the Great Hall, but it wouldn't fit there and would ruin the little dock for the boat. I still think this set is likely though, hopefully with Lockhart and Tom Riddle minifigs. 3) The Burrow. This would be a larger set, and could have a lot of crossover appeal - maybe even as a modular. It could come with the Weasley family as minifigs. 4) Diagon Alley. We already know about the small set - available in Slovenia. Hopefully they do a larger one, but I doubt they'd release a small and large set at the same time. 5) Duelling Club. A small set focused on play features, with Harry, Draco and a snake. This would be priced the same as the current Aragog's Lair set. All just guesses, no inside info I'm afraid! Quote

But I will get enough CMF Dumbledores to make like 8 versions - including Jude Law version, flashback version and so on After all - in the movies he wore like pretty much the same 2 outfits, while in the book Dumby was famous for his ridiculous robes (including orange with flower kitting patterns ) Indeed, he wasn't bigger than Snape or the other teachers. But since he was skinny - and the CMF figure's accents (beard, hat) are quite wide, he does look tall Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 @AJB: Nice suggestions, but I highly doubt that all five sets are gonna be HP ones I except at least one or two of them to be based on CoG Quote
