Accio Lego Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Apparently one of the January Friends sets is called ‘Axolotl Adventure Boat’ – perhaps we’ll see a new non-Minecraft axolotl mold Quote

I don't remember when the rubber duck was released, but if it existed at the time, yeah, that does feel like taking the cheap way out. 1 hour ago, Roebuck said: Probably.. Maybe this time City will join it, too. Quote

Most likely it is nothing, but it's not impossible either, animals make as much sense as Space and F1 I hope the CMF foal and cat comes in those colors with normal printing, maybe in BAM Quote

Roebuck Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 44 minutes ago, williejm said: You mean the Spidey versions? I hope so too, but not sure there’s even a precedent for that Yes, I believe it should be easier to make a animal in an existing color in a new print than make a animal in a new color. They make the mould first and then later print it, if they already have the animal they could just print it with the original print. However I do not now and the animal will still take up a spot in storage etc Quote
Lion King Posted August 1 Posted August 1 No thanks to CMF foal and cat in Spidey style just like they did with Ptera and Stego babies. And….this….weird Goblin ratpor. No thanks! Quote

And….this….weird Goblin ratpor. No thanks! Yeah, Spidey style animals are of no use/interest to me. Still, with this latest series now officially revealed it won't be too long before we see leaked pics of what could be the best CMF series of all time for us regulars in this thread (or most likely a crushing disappointment with the budget for new parts put towards costumed animal moulds and no new actual animals)! I'm still thinking it will be an all costumed series given the koala suit leak in the hope I'll be pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't mind if the koala costume comes with a koala like the Series 24 one (as I only have one), which therefore wouldn't require a new mould presumably. Even better if it was a reverse of the previous koala (e.g. head looking right instead of left) so that multiple koalas don't all look exactly the same. Quote

It's not impossible even for costumed figs to come with other smaller animals (a la the Series 18 Elephant Girl coming with a mouse). So all hope's not lost for fans of non-costume animal molds. Especially where new moulds are needed for both (I know they are not always required, but still) The elephant girl remains an outlier in costumes yielding new animal moulds. Quote

This seems like an awfully pessimistic take. If the series was all costumes it would be named something more specific like ‘costume party’ not ‘animals’. That’s not even getting into the fact that only animal costumes is a bit too niche. Plus, just look at the Space series, which is the best cue of what a current themed series would look like. It’s not all aliens, it’s not all throwbacks (no matter how much some AFOLs wanted it to be), and it’s not even all sci-fi – it’s a mix of all different themes and archetypes to maximize the potential audience. Using that as a measure, I’m fully expecting to see some animal centric professions – it’s been awhile since the last vet and we’ve had an animal control officer and zookeepers but not a wildlife rehabilitator or aquarium staff, at least one fantasy or historical take on animals, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a kid who’s a big animal fan whose accessory is something like the old zoobooks. There will still be costumes, obviously, I just wouldn’t expect them to comprise the entire series – Lego knows full well actual animals are more popular than costumes. I would not be surprised if indeed Lego does not include an animal with any of the animal-costumed minifigs given how stingy they are. As much as I am a big fan of animal-costumed figs, I would not put it past Lego if the cat and koala were the only costumed figs we get for an animal series. Either the rest of the minifigs have "animal-costume-printed" regular heads, or they are animal-related occupations such as a zookeeper, etc. Quote

The tiger especially is probably something fans of the genre would like to see done properly. Quote

There are also a slew of previously used costume parts that can easily be reprinted and recoloured and re-purposed - both to make variants and/or entirely new animals Quote

Wonder if they might re-use the HP lion headgear. 2 hours ago, williejm said: There are also a slew of previously used costume parts that can easily be reprinted and recoloured and re-purposed - both to make variants and/or entirely new animals I think initially, there was some inconsistency with how they made costume minifigs. The bunny costume had the minifig face showing and the headgear was only bunny ears. Ditto the tiger cub (BAM?) and tiger woman halloween CMF. It seems that now the 'standard' version is that the whole animal head is the headgear, with the whole minifig face still showing. They have re-done the bunny and tiger in the CNY sets. Quote
Roebuck Posted August 3 Author Posted August 3 There is a orange cat of some sort in the Star trek set picture, however it apparently is a prelim so do not mean much I guess.. the horn is loose so makes the mould more useful even if we are not used to holes in the minifig animals compared to minidoll ones. Other new ones i August Last seen in 2011 Quote
Roebuck Posted August 6 Author Posted August 6 There is a good chance we will get a horse in the Hogsmeade set since it includes a "carriage driver" fig Hopefully a new color, but not likely. I speculate they will reuse the crazy high priced owl from the burrow for the owl in the start of the clip @williejm there is even a highland cattle in the movie clip, but the chances are small they will include that.. And some pigeons flying around Maybe a goat Quote
