Lion King Posted February 5 Posted February 5 A whole CMF series with all new aniaml molds sounds wonderful! Although, i wish for new prehistoric, sci-fi, and fantasty creatures in it. Quote

Lion King Posted February 6 Posted February 6 FYI - Jurassic World will have Titanosaurus and Spinosaurus as new molded prehistoric creature. Queztacoatlus seems recolored and Mosaurus is…brick-built. Quote

Spino will sell out like hot cakes no matter what set he's in, the only one I'll will absolutely pick up unless we get a new raptor of any kind since we don't have one on shelves after the retirement of the 2023 sets Quote
williejm Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Brick-built mosasaur sounds like it could be nighmareish … I get that size is an issue, but it seems like they already decided to have moulded dinos, so they should have followed through Okay- just saw the pics 🤮 @ mosasaur Others look good, if *interesting* colour scheme on the Spino Quote
RichardGoring Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Curiously, I think the Mosasaur is my favourite of the four! The Spinosaurus mould is good, but the colours put me off a bit. I suspect it will be better in real life though. Quote
SketchBrick Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I'll definitely be getting the Spinosaurus in whatever set includes it! The others look decent though I'm not as bothered about adding them to my collection. I appreciate the detail on the Mosasaurus even if I wish it was moulded - on the plus side it matches nicely with the design of the T-rex from the last 18+ diorama. Quote

The rest have nice colors and the Spino will probably sell well. Quote
Lion King Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I am not too crazy about buildable creatures like this Mosasurus so i will skip it. It might look weird next to other extistiing molded dinosaurs. Anyways, I’m very looking forward to add other prehistoric creatures to my animal kingdom. Not to mention, there might be a mutant dinosaur - alien-like dinsoaur with four arms in Lego form (nothing solid at the moment). Quote
lifeinplastic Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I don’t mind dinosaurs but can’t really see enough small sized ones to fit in a CMF series. As for mythological/sci-fi/cryptozoids, I’d personally much rather Lego made a big push to fill as many gaps for animals in the real world first before they push for the bizarre and fantasy stuff. A CMF animal line would go a long way to adding lots of small animals (or young versions of bigger animals). Quote

karrit Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I have to agree that I'd much rather they give us real world animals before robot/cyborg critters & mythological beasties. They add lots of new ones all the time for Friends & Duplo but not for the City sets. And when they finally do it's often a recolor of something that was made for a licensed set. I would have loved some recolored foals for the City line rather than just the one off from the CMF a few years back. Still waiting for some black sheep and some different colored cows along with a bunch of different forest critters. Quote
Lion King Posted February 9 Posted February 9 What is the point to give us real-world Niels first anyways? Mythological/prehistoric/sci-fi creatures could o-exist in thesme CMF series with real-world . for example, caveman nd cavewoman didn’t come with saber-toothed tiger cub or woolly mammoth calf in the past. Or even dino hunter. Thankfully, alien penguin and robotic dog in Series 26 cam… Quote
Lyichir Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I don’t really feel like it makes a difference if they do realistic or fantasy/sci-fi animals since for the most part it just depends on what theme it’s coming out of the budget for. I wouldn’t really expect fantasy animals from City the same way I wouldn’t expect non-fantasy animals from Ninjago. I guess for mixed genre themes like the CMFs it makes a bit of difference but there we tend to get a bit of both—I don’t get the sense that one is taking away from the other. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) I guess I feel it would just be weird to have a themed series specifically for animals and then include a lot of other creatures that don't exist in the real world or odd variations that would be best suited to series that are based around other themes like the robot dog/space penguin, especially as there would only be room for 12 figures. I agree it would be cool for more animals to be introduced alongside suitable figures like the cave people with a sabre-tooth cub you mentioned but I think these would be best suited to a regular series. Currently though my preference would be to make sure real world habitats have plenty of representation first - just my opinion of course, but I don't really get the use in something like a space penguin and I feel the Jurassic World license offers enough opportunity to provide all the dinosaurs we need. Generally I do advocate non-themed unlicensed series as I tend to think this offers something to cater for everyone. Edited February 9 by lifeinplastic Quote
