xwingyoda Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Guys, Here is my latest ship: the Class 1 "Blade". Its a really fast reckon ship: has only front blasters. The idea originates from the SR-71 Blackbird: really thin ship, small wings with big engines. I actually like the combination of black/chrome. Also the back engines is a combination of black, chrome and transparent light blue. I know its a real simple ship with not that many details. This time I hope you will like it ;) BTW, this time it fits a minifig :P I will upload my Shelf gallery, but just for an idea, here is a preview pic!!! Quote
snefroe Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 looks very nice. :oo reminds me more of the yellow starfighter, even tho the shape of the cockpit is different... Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 21, 2005 Author Posted May 21, 2005 Thanks my Pharao friend ;) The gallery has been updated, you can check it here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=130068 Comments are always welcome of course ;) (especially nice ones hehe) Enjoy!! Quote
ApophisV Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 Dude, great work again! This one is a great example of an beautiful design concept! You got a great shape in there, the proportions of the wings, the main body and the "front wings" are just perfect! My only complaint is, that the bottom of it is looking somehow thin or flat or whatever. If you would add some slopes or anything below the cockpit section it would look much more balanced... Another aspect of this is the great color scheme. The black and the chrome make it looking so much elegant, really nice idea! For the cockpit: I as an interior geek would suggest to add more details to yours! You need at least some kind of a seat for your pilot and maybe some handles or whatever. Also greebles give a nice touch to the cockpit design, maybe some transparent parts like 1x1 round plates or L4 bars behind the seat or beyond the controls... Hope this helps ;) Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 23, 2005 Author Posted May 23, 2005 Thanks guys!!!!! I'll probably do what i did with the meteorite and ad details!! The problem with the cokpit is that the minifig is really lying down, so i have to see how to integrate details inside, i have ideas at the rear of the cokpit though. Also bear in mind i did it really quickly, because i was kind of inspired and the more i look at it, the more i will modify certain things!!!! Quote
Starwars4J Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 controls might not be necessary, if the minifig is lying down (something I've used a few times), just make it so that the cockpit viewshield is a touchscreen control. It can work. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 25, 2005 Governor Posted May 25, 2005 I actually like the combination of black/chrome. Also the back engines is a combination of black, chrome and transparent light blue. Did you chrome the pieces yourself or do pieces already come like that? I'm very new to chrome... Quote

Those chrome pieces (the big ones) comes from the UCS Naboo fighter ;) and the others come from that big mecha designer set ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 25, 2005 Governor Posted May 25, 2005 As much chrome as I've got is a sword, so my knowledge of chrome is very limited... Unless the gold coins and crown count as chrome pieces. But they don't really possess the level of functionality was the pieces you've used. Quote
Beagle Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Very nice ship, really classy! I like the simplicity and (as someone else mentioned) the elegance of it. I like the use of the droid arms for the interior, and the blue and chrome engines are beautiful! The only very minor thing I might suggest (not sure if this has already been addressed) would be to add a little more meat to the "saddle" part of the engine pieces. It feels a little conspicuosly empty right now, especially with the bare studs on top of the engine. It might be nice to beef it up with some slopes or vents there, and maybe a tile along the top of the engine. Overall, though, really great little ship! Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Tks Beagle for your compliment ;) You are right about beefing up the engines but the only problem is that the ship is dismantled *wacko* Quote
Beagle Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Heh... guess that's what I get responding to a four-month-old thread. Oy. Next time I'll pay more attention to the date... :$ Quote
legofreak Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I dont think i was active here four months ago.. but my first reaction to seeing this was "ooooooooooo" :o nice anyway.. have you replaced it with anything else since then? :D Quote
KimT Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Nice MOC. You're the man Yoda. Cool mix of black and silver (chrome) - never thought of using UCS Naboo that way. You sparked a fire in my brain... :oD KimT Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Thanks for the kind words Kim ;) Need a fire extinguisher for that brains of yours ?? :D :P I always loved the alliance of black and chrome :oD Quote
