TPLSTER21 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 You should already know who they are fighting against next year Hints are everywhere Nope...unless you mean the overlord again or the ghosts again...I'm blanking.... Agreed. I don't see any of the "hints" you describe. Unless you are talking about another wave of ghost sets or maybe Garmadon comes back out of the other dimension and is evil again with a new type of army? If you have some info you would like to share, that would be great! At this point, the only thing I would guess for certain is that we will probably get another wave of Airjitsu spinners. Maybe they port the App Bricks from Ultra Agents to Ninjago and use them in the next wave of sets. San Diego Comic Con is coming up in a couple of weeks or so. Last year, someone from the boards attended the Lego presentation and they provided some info on the new wave of Ninjago sets (albeit very limited info). So we might hear more then. If anyone from the boards is going, hopefully they can ask for and receive some details just like last year. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Nope...unless you mean the overlord again or the ghosts again...I'm blanking.... Then when you'll see what's coming next year you'll say "In fact I've knowing this all time along." Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Well then...wait do you have some inside info we don't know about and are you at liberty to share...the only other thing we know about is the preeminent Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Yes(?): - beasts/demons from the Underworld - evil samurai (somehow, because "just evil humans" is not Lego's style) - evil individuals (a bit like UA) - probably another dragon Why not do pirates? And just give them the same amount of inspired twists of style and anachronism as the other ninjago factions? I know in the show there was a pirate-y couple of episodes, because I'd heard talk and hoped a proper pirate faction had been developed, just to find that it was using plain, pre-designed regular pirates. LegendsOfNinjago Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I remeber back in 2012, IMDB showed "epidsode discriptions" about the Ninja fighting a band of undead priates, and they had to find some weird ocean weapons and Jay's parents were held captive and they had to find a cave and some stones or something. I got really excites becasue I thoughgt it was real. I wouldn''t mind something like that. Quote
BrickJagger Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) the Ninja fighting a band of undead priates, Edited June 24, 2015 by BrickJagger Quote

I don't see them releasing another line of pirate related sets in a different theme one year later. Besides which, a pirate line would likely be nautically themed vehicle-wise and we just got a huge Destiny's Bounty set along with another 2 boats in City of Stiix so I don't think that Pirates are in the cards for the next wave of sets. The only way this might happen is assuming LegendsofNinjago's recollection is correct, they may have planned out a season of episodes and models and then put them aside in favor of the Rebooted/Cultists/Ghost lines. Now, with the movie being moved back and their product pipeline perhaps disrupted somewhat, they might go back to those plans/designs, flesh them out and release them to give them some time to plan the next wave or 2 that would need to hit shelves before the movie. But even that seems like a stretch to me. No, I don't think we are looking at a pirate wave. Quote
Master_Data Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 ^ Although a pirate wave would be awesome! I really liked those preliminary episode descriptions, even though they were never made. I wouldn't mind seeing them produced, but an underwater wave is far more likely. Quote

The concept of futuristic Ninjas flying around in tubes and fighting Ghost-people was a stretch ten years ago, wasn't it? Wait and see........ Quote

TPLSTER21 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 The concept of futuristic Ninjas flying around in tubes and fighting Ghost-people was a stretch ten years ago, wasn't it? Wait and see........ But does it have to be? If Pirates are the enemy faction, I don't see how the wave could not be water focused and the vehicles focused primarily on boats/ships. And it's not that I see that a Pirate (Ghost Pirate...?) theme would be a stretch. Rather, I would consider it to be a re-hash of stuff that Lego has already done very recently. I respect your opinions though and as I mentioned before if this was something Lego had in the pipeline that never made it to the front burner, now might be a perfect time to use it given the possible product pipeline disruption caused by the moving back of the movie release date. *Shrugs* In any case, we should have an idea as to what the future holds in, oh say, 60 days or so. Lyichir Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) One thing that I think would make an aquatic wave neat is that it could follow a very appealing story pattern to serve as a two-wave theme. The first half of the year's sets could feature the ocean surface and beaches, fighting whatever undersea foe should arise (maybe even with shirtless "beach" costumes? Nothing wrong with a little fanservice... ). The second half year's sets could feature them fighting those foes at their source, deep under the sea with appropriate scuba costumes (which may or may not need new molds—simply strapping air tanks onto a traditional masked ninja would probably suffice). This structure would allow for a wide range of set designs, with surface vehicles and tropical beach scenery for the first half of the year, and deep-sea vehicles and underwater scenery for later in the year. As for foes, pirates might work... but personally I think cephalopod-themed villains could be quite creepy and diverse. Edited June 25, 2015 by Lyichir Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) I only want pirates if they are undead, as TPLSTER21 pointed out, we just got a pirate line. So a twist would be needed. Also I just realized Karloffs face was used in the Pirate series too (I mean it was used before it was Karloff but still). I WOULD LOVE another underwater theme too, but City just went underwater aswell. So I don't know how plausible this would be. However I feel most kids wont notice and want anything with a Ninjago logo slapped onto it. I mean I would. Also, the chances of seeing the overlord or some form of large darkness is possible due to the Golden Armor seen in The Invitation, being out there. It would be cool for it to be underwater. That would be a good hiding place. Edited June 25, 2015 by LegendsOfNinjago Quote
PenPlays Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 So today I was watching some Lego Store employees demo the new Airjitzu Flyers. I can see them being an insane hit. Even more than the spinners were. I was curious how Lego could continue to make them fresh and I thought that, by simply changing the blade design on the helicopter piece to a different, elemental-like shape, we can have different elemental themed flyers. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I was thinking about the same thing! I mean, I love the flyer and the are so much better than the spinners. Quote
The Kumquat Alchemist Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) Judging purely by the quality of sets, of course I'd love to see it continue! So far we've gotten snakes, ghosts, mecha, and many other varieties of foes, and so long as the set design can continue to remain as fresh as it has in previous years, then I don't really see how a new theme could trump it. They've even managed to find a beautiful new gimmick with Airjitsu spinners, and those are, to me, far more appealing than the spinners from Ninjago's early years. Just so long as there isn't stagnation in set design, I'm fine with it being our primary adventure theme for the future. Edited June 26, 2015 by The Kumquat Alchemist Quote
Exetrius Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I agree, concerning set design, Ninjago is better than ever imo. We haven't really discussed the setting for Ninjago in the future yet. I know it is almost irrelevant for the sets, since they often lack architecture, but yet it is interesting to think about. So far, we've had (in the sets) a lot of different settings including: - Unspecified Ninjago bamboo forest/jungle - "Dojo setting" - The Underworld - Desert with Serpentine architecture - Dark island mountains - New Ninjago City - Jungle on Chen's island - City of Stiix Of course there are many more places that the ninja went. What type of environment do you guys hope to see? A swamp, underwater world, a crystal cave or floating islands in the sky maybe? Quote
Ordinareo Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) We never really had a Alien Invasion storyline, the REBOOTED series showed that alien creatures (The bugs on the comet) do exist in the Ninjago Universe so why not? Edited July 7, 2015 by Ordinareo Quote
Colossus Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I was thinking about the same thing! I mean, I love the flyer and the are so much better than the spinners. My kids are in the front yard playing with the Airjitzu flyers as we speak! My kids had some fun with the spinners, but not this much! My son has Morrow's, and my daughter has Nya in Cole's red flyer. My Zane is stuck in the tree til I dig out some telescoping pruning shears. What a hoot. Quote
Dragonfire Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I think aliens will be the next villains, and the series will deal with the ninja exploring the different realms. Quote
Exetrius Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Maybe they'll meet counterparts from other realms. I'm now even more excited about the future of Ninjago (Universe ) Quote
mediumsnowman Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Let's see, what have the Ninjas fought before? -Skeletons -Snakes -Rock Ninjas -Robot Ninjas -Space Robot Ninjas -Other Ninjas (Elemental Masters) -Giant Snakes -Ghost Ninjas -Pirates I bet next wave they'll fight some nasty alien-ghost-snake-robot-ninjas! Quote
Scarilian Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Just, where are hints for all that? I'm guessing he is referring to the following; Zane's voice gets changed to speak like a pirate Kai and his emphasis of being afraid of water Jay see's he has a pirtate eye patch in the future Focus on things being around/underneath water Though personally i think we may see a break from Ninjago until the movie - which had the following plotline released when it was originally going to be out in 2016; "Ninjago has been at peace since the Ninja defeated Ronin, however when a once banished warlord returns to claim the stone of elements, the ninja must team up with Sensei, Samurai, dragons and elemental fighters to fight dark magicians, ghost warriors and the mysterious league of silent ninja. The stakes has never been higher, as Ninjago faces its biggest threat" Though what that means given the ending of this series... i'm not sure... Quote
