Dafgek81 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I heared that Lego is changing the type off tyre 62.4 x 20 for a new type. Is this true and what is it going to look like. And should I stock up on these "old" type tyres, so if they become expensive in the future I have enough to keep building?
Pat-Ard Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) I don't know anything regarding new tires. But I think the 62.4 won't ever be rare... It's one of the most used tires... Edited March 20, 2015 by Pat-Ard
Epic Technic Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 We'll where did you hear this from? I would be interested to see what the might change it to, it already has a good and useful design.
Dafgek81 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 I read it on a dutch sellingsite, stated in an add. Saying Lego is going to produce a new type of tyre. But if no one here heared about it, it must be a lie.
Lakop Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 It's a popular tyre for trucks and just about every type of model. it would be a shame to lose it. H
dr_spock Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 It could be alarmist rumour to get people to buy or speculate on old tires. Take that kind of info with a giant grain of salt.
Jim Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Don't we all have enough of the 62.4 tires to last a lifetime?!
LeocornoProductions Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I want Lego to make slicks for a new tire. Like how can they make a formula 1 car that has tread on its tires?!
Epic Technic Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I want Lego to make slicks for a new tire. Like how can they make a formula 1 car that has tread on its tires?! Well actually Formula 1 wet tires have groves, but a slick, man that would be sick! I do hope they bring back the black cat tires.
zux Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I want Lego to make slicks for a new tire. Like how can they make a formula 1 car that has tread on its tires?! Why would you need this for? LEGO tires already slippery as hell and slick type tires won't fix this. Just for the looks? Nah, we don't see couple of F1 models released each year by TLG.
Paul Boratko Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Perhaps new tires are being designed to be used on the new creator Ferrari F40 that is coming out this year..? If anything, the new 42043 might have updated tires with a new part ID number... Lego does change parts sometimes and update them with new numbers... Edited March 20, 2015 by Paul Boratko
Kelkschiz Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Don't we all have enough of the 62.4 tires to last a lifetime?! Don't have any myself, probably because they didn't exist when I was a kid, and after my 'darkage' I buy most of the stuff I need from Bricklink.
allanp Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) Should really be thinner with a slightly larger, deeper wheel so that two can be directly pinned together without any spacer. Also, by being large enough to be able to place the steering pivot inside the wheel you will effectively eliminate any of the axle bend seen in the Arocs and would take some strain off the steering. Ondra Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Perhaps new tires are being designed to be used on the new creator Ferrari F40 that is coming out this year..? Im expecting for ferrari these types of wheels and tyres http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?P=41896c04 .
Pat-Ard Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I'd love to see some tires with a diameter of about 70-75 mm... But no ballons More something like the Unimog tires...
Epic Technic Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Do we know the source of this rumor? A dutch selling website
Milan Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 A dutch selling website Yeah, I saw it in this thread, I meant some link or picture?
Boxerlego Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I want Lego to make slicks for a new tire. Like how can they make a formula 1 car that has tread on its tires?! That would be awesome! Why would you need this for? LEGO tires already slippery as hell and slick type tires won't fix this. Just for the looks? Nah, we don't see couple of F1 models released each year by TLG. In real life its to maximizing racing performance. For LEGO it will probably be for the looks unless LEGO makes motor and drive train strong enough to do burn outs.
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Its not April 1st yet guys, this sounds like rubbish to me.
Saberwing40k Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Its not April 1st yet guys, this sounds like rubbish to me. Yeah, this is a load of megablocks. Unless, of course, there is a link to this alleged site. Then it would be a legitimate rumor. But, there is not, so I think that this thread should be locked, and any discussion on new tires we want should be in the General Parts thread.
Dafgek81 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 Here is the link to the ad, it is in dutch and I don't know if it's true, just asking about it. http://link.marktplaats.nl/m910863987
