Kiwi_Builder Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Hey all, I am planning on making an MAN SL202 from Redbus NZ (Now out of service), and was hoping that one of my fellow builders would have a good working design for a proper bus door that is remote controllable. I have been fiddling around with a concept for this but it has some major issues that prevent it from working properly, so please if you have a good design you could share with me it would be very much appreciated. Below are some photos of the bus in question. Also if there is anyone out there who has an image or two of the rear of one of these Redbus's, it would be greatly appreciated. This project would be far easier if these buses were still in service! Thanks in advance for any help you can provide, I will be keeping you updated on the progress of the MOC as it happens. Happy bricking mates, Kiwi_Builder. Quote
Nalyd997 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 You could use a linear actuator to move the door open, making the hinge open inwards It depends on what scale though Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Scale is 42043 scale, sorry but I'm not sure what it is but I work off the looks of the wheel size of then 42009 wheels compared to the rest of the body. Quote
miguev Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 A bus! :) Very much looking forward to seeing this come together. I haven't seen many Technic buses, but searching on YouTube should yield at least a couple of them with working RC doors. I'm also interested in this, as one of my MOC ideas is a Volvo 7700 red bus (in service where I live now) but I think it'll be a few years before I try seriously. Quote
Ciapasty Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I had a bus with remotely controlled doors. They worked pretty well. Too bad it was disassembled a long time ago. You can see some pictures in this topic ( http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=101806&hl= ), but they are really crappy, and the mechanism is not clearly visible. Quote

Thanks for that As you say it isn't very clear but I can work off what I see and after a bit of fiddling it should end up working! Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 Does anyone have a good design for suspension on a single, dual wheeled rear axle because all my attempts at this have resulted in failure. It is best if this design doesn't have more than four suspension rods due to parts restraints. PROJECT UPDATE: I have got two door designs nearly completed with pictures coming in the next day or so. There are also two chassis designs, one with the beginnings of suspension and another without, I will use the chassis without suspension unless I can get well working suspension that I can build with my parts available to me. I tried once, not sure it would have worked well, but uses only 2 rods: Edited March 22, 2015 by miguev Quote
