One of my favorite wars of history was the Gallic Wars which were a series of military campaigns waged by the Roman proconsul Julius Caesar against several Gallic tribes. Rome's war against the Gallic tribes lasted from 58 BC to 50 BC and culminated in the decisive Battle of Alesia in 52 BC, in which a complete Roman victory resulted in the expansion of the Roman Republic over the whole of Gaul (mainly present day France and Belgium). The wars paved the way for Julius Caesar to become the sole ruler of the Roman Republic.

Built for Major B's "Recreate History" contest.

Enjoy!

This is a really fitting entry for "Lego historic themes". Well done!

Interesting to see how you've done the Roman field signs.

Yeah, I thought we could use a little more real "historic" stuff in the LOTR forum...

This is one of my favorite paintings and favorite books. Awesome rendition. Very impressive

A really good read to be sure! :classic:

Like everyone else has stated, amazing render of this painting Mark. The figure posing is outstanding.

Dare you to do a Jackson Pollock painting next! :roflmao:

Haha! All aboard the NOPE train headed for NOPEville USA...

Thats great! I love how you catch the atmosphere of original painting.

Only shield should have different color ;)

A wonderful representation of the painting - youve managed to keep the drama of the scene. Great posing of minifigs, and intersting solution to Caesars legs, as well as those of the gilded-helmed Roman. And special mention goes to the signums (signa?) and philarae recreated in the background!
