Richter Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Im currently building Volkswagen with 4x4 drivertain and I have a problem with steering having too large turning radius for the wheels. The wheels are moving too much and so rubbing against the wheel arches so I was thinking if there's a possibility to create an drive axle which would make the wheels turn on the spot, not moving widely across the wheel arch? Thanks! Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 First please show the current setup. Than we can talk further. Quote

Rockbrick Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 its why lego made 4ws on the crawler 9398 using CV joints with the new hubs inside large wheels will make it turn better but less ability to handle a lot of torque Quote
Milan Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 What scale is the VW youre building? And what wheels are you using? Quote

I don't see much of a difference in the video, although the bump steer is gone for good. Quote
Richter Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Pictures of the vehicle and the axles are found here https://www.flickr.com/photos/116031062@N02/with/15327262263/ Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 You can replace the U joints with CV's and gain 1 more stud this way. Thats about all you can gain with portal axles and kingpin. Quote
