Hi,

Well, this is my first "simple crawler".

The story behind this "project", if I could call it so... :D

After designing many complicated and real-like axles and chassis setups, that weren't bad, but sluggish slow, I have decieded, in Sept.. no, in Shiptember to build something that is much faster, but still very strong. Having my main trial truck (Tatra 148, it is in my photostream too), I had no TLG's portal axles free, so the drivetrain had been made without them. And it turned out as very good solution, in combination with two XLs mounted directly to the axles in 1:1 (knobs were added later, after making the photos. Setup that is visible here made cracky sounds) !

The Crawler is fast, but it has not so much problems with rough terrain - However, unfortunatelly, I had no time (school study) to make the video of this blue CS-ish beauty. Video will come with it's second gen., that will come in white and with "advanced" mid-part of chassis, the axles stood the same.

Features: one Servo, one Li-Po, two XLs in geared 1:1 to the wheels, "simple" chassis, blue panels, Classic space look (Unfortunatelly, I had no red dished to put them into the rims)

Full album: https://www.flickr.c...57649229365692/

LDD for the chassis is availible, please send me notification, whether you want to see it (I'll send it you via e-mail).

It looks very good, we would love to see a video of it in action.

I think the flex axles on the sides look out of place with the rest of the body.It would complete the look if you could solve that part with angle connectors too. Regardless, I really like the looks!

I like the crawler, but I think I like your backscreen even more, do you actually have such material in your studio, or do you post process after shooting, like a bluescreen or something?

I would like to had solved the back side like the rest of body, but I had not enough that LBG or LG angled pieces nor axles or connectors. So this was the only solution to fill the side ;)

:D Thank you. Reading about "my studio" makes me little proud and laugh, because whole trick is that I used to use (they became filling of the ceiling in the cottage few days ago) two boards with the pattern you can see (I presume they come from trailer's floor), and put them somewhere in the garden where the sun shines (as seen in the photo below), and then let my Nokia do it's job. :P

Later, right before uploading, I opened Photoshop and added that letters to the layer above the photo (with eraser and some effects). That's all, I'm glad you like it :classic:

"the gears that are visible in the photo were substitued later by the knobs"

...after getting tired of cleaning up the ground away gear dust from the floor....no doubt

Yes, you are very close to that what really happened. :D Thanks.

What an awesome shape!I's suggets you to use small turnatble if possible to gain ground clearance. You can still build your own portal hubs if you want to. Keep up the good work!

Thank you!

Yes, ground clearence was not satisfying to me, so the next generation does not use turntables (I have only one small, so I could not use them there), but the ball joints (used in Unimog, Crawler, etc.).

But the problem with portals is not that I have used them in T148, but that they cause additional friction and makes the car slower. :D And that was not my goal. ;) But, thanks ;)

I really like the way you presented your MOC. The pattern gives it a rough look and the annotations are perfect. Well done with such limited resources.

Furthermore I love the color scheme of the MOC, which is applied to the annotations too. You have an eye for detail

I love it. When can we see a video to get an idea of the performance?

Your photography skills seem petty awesome. I wish my presentations looked half as good.

Oh, many thanks. I'm glad you like it, video with performance will be ready soon, but not yet yesterday, because I have to do too much for school. I will also submit it's second generation.

(small taste: November 2014 LT collection )
