Green screen

Recommended Posts

Can I use a wall made out of green bricks to subtitle a green screen for chroma keying and masking? Or do I need and actual green screen?

I don't think that would work for a few reasons.

1 - Once you build a wall and light it properly you will see variations in the color of bricks

2 - LEGO bricks are simply too shiny to work as a decent chroma key

3 - something I've forgotten

If you are doing a flat (as in background only, no foreground) your cheapest route is going to be a sheet of green or blue posterboard, though i recommend foamcore board. Make sure you buy the matte type and not the shiny type or your key will give you nothing but trouble. Personally, I'd go with both blue and green since your models need to have none of the key color in them, it gives you more options for building this way.

Yeah, In my experience, greenscreen is incredibly difficult unless you A: have a green screen and B: have it taught and well and evenly lit, so no, I dought bricks would work, give it a go though, it might!
