Hey guys! Today I have my latest MOC, the TIE Emancipator. I made this guy when I was experimenting with some tie fighter designs. The wings are a mix of the Tie defender and Darth Vader's Tie. I took a lot of inspiration from Cornwaille's amazing Tie designs, but there are some changes I want to make to make it more in line with 9492. I've finally managed to make renders without making tons of changes. I've also made up a little story to go along with this guy. Lastly, here is the LFX file: New Tie 2.lxf All pics are on my Flickr. Enjoy! :classic:

The TIE Emancipator was a TIE variant developed shortly after the Battle of Endor, originally intended as as a successor to the TIE Defender, but evolved into it's own fighter. The TIE Emancipator was a heavy fighter / assault craft, boasting 2 light guns, 4 medium guns, 2 heavy cannons, and 2 concussion or proton missile launchers. It could also be outfitted to carry proton torpedoes and proton bombs, depending on the mission. The Emancipator carried heavy shields, but no hyperdrive, since it was intended to work in atmosphere or around capital ships if needed. The Emancipator had the same engines as the TIE Interceptor, but heavily modified to match the speed the TIE Interceptor could output. The Emancipator saw great success as a ground attacker, being able to rip apart rebel bases with ease. As a fighter, it also saw success, but not as great as the other fighters in the Empire's arsenal. It did better at a capitol ship attacker than a dedicated fighter. Although it's success, they're were only a few thousand ever created, joining the group of Imperial fighters that were too few, to late.

Sorry for the huge story guys, now onto the fighter itself!

Awesome model! I like the rear "spioler"

Can you share LXF?

Also are you gonna built it IRL?

I put the LFX in the first paragraph. :classic: I would love to build it IRL, but I'm not sure about stability. That and I'm tight on parts. I'm currently trying to build Cornwaille's TIE interceptor, so all my Tie-ish pieces are going towards that.

Very nice! Those technic brick pieces are over-apperant though and the connection does not look very solid.

The rest is very cool, no matter what keep it that way

Thanks! I could probably strengthen the connection some and make it more smooth. Good thing I'll probably never build it. :hmpf_bad:

That looks pretty good! I've never heard of this tie variant before, kinda reminds me of the vulture droid. Nice.

I don't understand why the Empire would call a new TIE variant the "Emancipator," but that's a fine creation, as worthy a TIE design as any other that came out of the EU.

Thanks! About the name... maybe they're freeing the people of the rebel influence? I just had to come up with something that wasn't already taken

I really do like this a lot. It ties in with the rest of them so well

I was thinking about the solidarity of the connection of the side panels as someone pointed out... You used technic bricks, which is fine (and quite apparent), but what about using these instead? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=10247 ( <a href="http://s1273.photobucket.com/user/fuppylodders/media/tieemancipator_zpsf0d3bac9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y411/fuppylodders/tieemancipator_zpsf0d3bac9.jpg" border="0" alt="Connection changed photo tieemancipator_zpsf0d3bac9.jpg"/></a> )

I think it literally makes it a perfect designed ship that could very easily be sold by TLG.

Now design me a Tie Bomber :P

I never looked into using anything like that. When I designed the connection I did it very lazily. That looks like it would be infinitely stronger. Maybe if i try to build one I'll take that into mind. If you want a tie bomber, use cornwaille's. I am loosely trying to design one but it hasn't gotten far and would just be a rip off.

You used the similar part underneath, given that the rest of it is designed (looks to be anyways :P ) really well, Im surprised you didn't use it in the first place. Either way, like I said, I really like it and if you don't mind, would like to build it sometime shortly money permitting :sweet:

Like I said, I was lazy. Definitely go ahead and build it! Just post it here so I can see. I've made some slight modifications since the last update, so I'll make a point to post that before you build it.
