Hi all, just a quick MOC (in fact a MOD of a quite old model) to test how those nice Speed Champions wheels and mudguards can be used for minifig scale purposes. Unfortunately they are much too large for passenger cars (except the hubcaps, see http://www.eurobrick...25#entry2193849), but they do look quite nice on such a truck, especially when the wheels are enlarged a bit. The pumper is an old 8w+ model (and thus too large for the actual scale I'm building in) - anyhow it will be turned to 7w+ some day ... Some more pics: Thanks for looking!

Hi everybody, new guy here! I'll admit, I've been reading and following Eurobricks for years, more years than I can count fingers on my hand. I officially signed up a couple months back, but have yet to post anything until now. I wanted to have something interesting to show you guys before I did, and now I do (hopefully). Allow me to present my custom LEGO Speed Champions MOC's! First of all, I love the Speed Champions sets. As a car guy and a LEGO fan, these are the best of both worlds. That being said, the designs leave a lot to be desired, which is also part of why I love them so much. I see an opportunity to exercise some creativity and do some hands-on building to make them as accurate to their real counterparts as possible. It starts with widening these models to 8-studs. That makes them too large for City-scale, but improves the look dramatically. Plus, with the added dimensions, you can put more detail into the models and get the proportions of auxiliary features (such as lights, exhaust, grille, etc.) correct. Truth be told, many of these had been in the works for almost a year, the first wave, that is. Most of the second wave is still in the works, though the Mustang and Corvette you see above are almost done. I've been constantly tweaking, retweaking, and fine-tuning my designs and I feel like I'm never fully satisfied with any of them. Some of the cars you see above haven't been fully completed. Some of the other Speed Champions are not shown in the photo because they're still half-built. In time, I will eventually show all of them. Today, I'll be showing one that has been completed to my liking: the Porsche 918 Spyder. With these models, I stick to a few rules that I set for myself: One, use as few of the stickers as possible. Stickers can only give so much depth; therefore, brick-built designs will look more authentic. Two, no custom parts or custom stickers. In the occasion that I do use stickers, I only use what's given on the sticker sheet. Three, no illegal building techniques. I want these to resemble a model that LEGO themselves would put out as a set. The common opinion is that the Porsche 918 is the dullest of the first wave of Speed Champions. I quite enjoyed tooling with this one, and it was actually easier than expected. I ditched the stickers for the front and rear intakes. I used stickers for the badges, fuel caps, and headlights. Technically, I could've gone with trans-clear cheese slopes for the headlights, but it didn't look quite right to me. I'm not a fan of the Speed Champions window/cockpit pieces for doing 8-wide builds. This is a Spyder, so it wasn't too hard to come up with a brick-built substitute. Without the window pieces, I'm now able to fit two minifigures side-by-side. It works because the construction of the sides is relatively simple and not very bulky. Being a convertible also helps too. I went with the brown leather plastic interior because I think it looks very classy. I try to recreate the interiors as accurately as possible. Side mirrors are an extra touch for added realism. This model also features a removable front trunk (frunk?) that can fit a couple of the suitcase pieces. You can see it in the short little video I have below! So, that's it for my first post! Let me know what you guys think! I'm always open to constructive criticism and if you have any alternate building techniques in mind, I'd love to hear about them! As soon as I started modding the Model A Hot Rod that comes with 75875, I knew I couldn't stop there. I decided that I needed to hit all of the different body styles for a Model A (Coupe, Sedan, Roadster, Pick up). This was an interesting challenge because there were some serious part limitations, but some of the best results come from that type of challenge. Here's a link to the black with flames coupe: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=134717 Other Speed Champions Mods: 2016 cars http://www.eurobrick...opic=122188&hl= 2015 cars http://www.eurobrick...36#entry2154620 As I built them, I experimented with different ways to handle the front bumpers, headlights, engines/exhaust and tail light treatments. Each one also has a different solution for the windshield. So here's the coupe for quick reference: Model A Sedan This one uses a "suicide style" front end treatment that puts the wheels farther out front. It also incorporates the little visor look that Model A's have over the windshield. Model A Roadster I opted to slam this one so the body is almost on the ground instead of the "hot rod rake" stance of the others. It also is intended to look like a Buick Nailhead V8 with a roots supercharger. Model A Pick Up The main thing for this one was to get away from basic primary colors and go for something that looked more vintage. To spice it up I went for Hemi gold accents on the engine and a wood plank bed. The air cleaner is made from a wheel and I used extra white border from the sticker sheet of 75875 to mimic an air filter element. Lastly, some shots of the Hot Rod garage.

Once again, I just couldn't be more pleased with this year's Speed Champion sets. As some of you will recall, I've been widening the standard Speed Champion cars to be 8 studs wide. I just prefer the aesthetic, and now my drivers aren't centered in what is supposed to be a 2 or 4 seat car. 2016 cars http://www.eurobrick...opic=122188&hl= 2015 cars http://www.eurobrick...36#entry2154620 The Model A was a special case because while it surely wasn't the scale that would necessitate 8-stud width, I didn't think it needed to be 6 studs either, so I went with 5, which keeps it a small old hot rod size, but is still more to scale than the tiny 4-stud configuration that comes with the set. In addition to the change in width, I've done a lot of detail work, from the engine to the back of the car. I didn't change much on the Raptor but did add to the garage pit area. The Aston Martin RB 001, is a Hyper-car designed in partnership with Red Bull racing and Aston Martin. The performance figures have not even been set in stone yet, but claims are being made that it will lay down LMP1 lap times, and sport a V12 in the middle of this beauty of engineering. also expected is a Track only version which will push it even further, F1 times being the targets for that version. weather it lives up to the hype or not there is no denying that beauty of it's styling. (photo of the car: http://blog.caranddr...03-876x535.jpg) this Lego version is just as sleek and impressive as the real thing. and an extreme amount of care went into this model both replicating as many features as possible and the spirit of the vehicle. i spent several days refining the lines and adjusting almost every part of the car to include as many of the vents, ducts, and other extreme body work details as i could fit in a 6wide+ car. and at a mere 16 studs long and 3.33 bricks tall it is one of my smallest city scale cars to date. but that's not what you are here for you want to see the car so lets get to it! So from this angle you can see just how sleek it is, very few breaks on body line, and everything swoops back in attempt to follow the real cars tear drop lines. (note, the raised rear wing, in this image) the Dramatic side vents are a bit tough to see being black on black, but the lighting on this angle shows just how deep some of the cuts are in the body work. (also wing in its down position, which i find so elegant and is my preferred position for it) rear view of the car, there is very little hear as the body lines pull high to the wing and only a lower lip at the break lights to allow for minimal drag and maximum down-force on the read of the car. top view of the near stud-less car, not a lot to see from this angle that hasn't been shown already and lastly a comparison shot (slightly blurry i hadn't noticed till i was posting it here, will try to re shoot that at a later time) Thanks, for taking a look, and i welcome any and all feed back on this model, I'm probably not done with it myself yet, but its 95% the way it will likely stay. hope you liked it!

Hi every EuroBrickers from all around the world! I like the Speed Champions theme and i in love with the sets.My favourite one is Porsche 918 Spyder,maybe because Porsche 918 is my favourite Porsche car. But however,I find that the new parts from Speed Champions is not available in LDD yet,so i need to find a alternate solution. But now,i have just successfully find a alternate solution to build Speed Champions car in LDD,that is using the existing LDD parts to modify the chasis. Here, i introduce you Porsche 918 RSR concept race car in LDD form.No printings or stickers are available on the car. You wonder how i make it?See the picture below. I build the chasis according to the instruction of 75910,and i modify the chasis using the parts that used in City Theme vehicles. I don't very like the back section .the tail lights looks blocky and because of the absence of the Speed champions pieces,the back section been not as curve like the real porsche 918 RSR concept car and looks too sharp.Hope the next LDD update will including the Speed Champions parts. Because the absense of the Speed Champions Windscreen in LDD,i use the windscreen and car roof from City theme.This cause the car looks less sleek and dynamic,but at the same time,You don't need to lean the driver down to fit in the car with the roof. The real Porsche 918 RSR Concept race car. I know that it's not 100% accurate,but because of the part limitation, that is the best i can do. Any comments and critism are welcomed. Need the LDD file?
