Hello fellas! I've always wanted to build a totally brick-built hull [i,e, not using the hull element] so I started yesterday. Today, however, I wondered what a hull would look like that was both sculpted and paneled with angled tile sections. I'd never seen it done before, so I tried it, and I kinda like what I see, so I'll probably run with it. These photos are very rough, so no need to point out the obvious that is missing. Side: Stern: The picture doesn't show it too well, but you can see that is creates a nice rounded shape, and a neat planky texture. This project is really fun - by the way, this isn't actually going to be a "pirate" ship, but I thought it would fit better in this forum for my fellow shipwrights to see. :pir-skull:

The Manufactory of the Schizo Viscount of Crowthorne
SirNadroj replied to SirNadroj's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks for the feedback! I can agree about a lack of a focus point, but as far as the overall composition goes, I'll have to disagree. The mirrors and lined up with the chandelier, while the foreground supercedes the background nicely with the variation in color from greys for the steel and brown for the wood [i can't mix up color for the wood besides browns and reddish browns] while asyemmtrical details like the tesla coil and desk mix up the workshop space. I know more than anyone that LEGO is an art medium - I consider it one before anything else, so I certainly stand by my work as far as it being art goes. I appreciate your feedback, but naturally I'm going to defend my work. I may turn out MOCs at a seemingly quick pace, but I do put lots of time into them. Sometimes it's not best to look at a MOC from an artistic point of view - I mean, what's more artistic, this or something that I build to be artistic, like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/3611879573/ Not everything I build is meant to be "artistic", but many are built simply to be representations of whatever I'm going for - in this case, a steampunk lab. But thanks for being honest. -
(I assume this fits better here than in Sci-Fi, yes?) Anyway, this is just a steampunk lab/workshop/factory. Two main "sections" All pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/ Thanks!

It was supposed to be more steampunky, but turned a bit into retro-space. I suppose he's pretty generic, but I think he's kinda cute. Thanks

A wacky scene. (with some Eylar-esque photography. ) Thanks.

Turkish delight on a moon-lit night! Every gal in Constantinople lives in Istanbul not Constantinople, so if you've got a date in Constantinople, she'll be waiting in Istanbul! (Love that song by They Might Be Giants.) A quicky to show off the sweet, sweet fezs. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/si...oj/istanbul.jpg Thank you thank you.

This was originally going to be The Apocalypse according to Joel [one of my favorite prophets of the Old Testament] but it kinda morphed slowly. This is my rendition; you can see, however, there are a few details that can be found in the Book of Joel; the ground quakes, pillars of fire and the swarms of "locusts" [yes, they're ants, but pretend they're locusts!] Keep in mind this is just another "quicky filler MOC." I'm no Brendan Powell Smith. A couple notes on the MOC; all of the rocky parts fit in together for a more realistic pattern. The red pillar is, of course, supposed to be blood [a surreal representation.] The moon/planets are stickers from the Discovery sets. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. This is supposed to be the Burton version, not the Dark Knight version by the way. Yes, a quick bricklink search yields my source: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID...2&colorID=5

Here's what Dollar Bill's ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=agt023 ) hair looks like on the Joker... much more classic - better than the "Dracula" hair, I feel. Thought I'd share this with you! Thank you.

Here are some misc. creations using Space Police elements. The Marvelous Jet-Powered Automatron The Human Form (this is the back torso of "Snake" - the yellow, cycloptic alien) This isn't custom, but note the "Blacktron" graffiti. Thank you, thank you!

For MECHA Hub's Civilian Mecha Contest - the creator of the universe. "Forging exsistence, With steel pointed claws, Planets of ore, Of hatred and scorn. The Grand Architect, Carries the worlds. But who, dare I ask, Forged this mech of rancor?" Thanks as always!

Let me start by saying this is not a Power Miners MOC. I just has a lot of lime hanging around, is all! It started with the birch tree.... not sure how it morphed, but things happen. This is an entry for MECHA Hub's Civilian Mecha contest over at their group on flickr. "The Geo-Bot 8.9 mines in an underground cavern, which resembles Giant's Causeway. Equipped with heavy armor and drill feet, the Geo-Bot 8.9 can grind up an obtrustive rock formation in its path. Also, it finds companionship in a canary - the mecha's programmers are unsure of the cause of its affection for the avian creature, as robots do not feel. Leading researchers call this phenomenon "heartbyte". Apparently the glitch bites the "heart" - that is, the central memory chip of the metal man. However, the glitch does not affect the mecha's occupation - mining - so he has yet to be thrown into the trash compactor." http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/1-152.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/2-136.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/3-129.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/7-47.jpg Thanks.

(I assume this fits in this category; the focus is the robot. ) A "Chariots of the Gods" type MOC, featuring a godesque robot forming Eve for Adam in the Garden Of Eden. All pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/ Thanks!

He loves him some Taun Taun. Thank you.

A two-for-one! A hard hat diver encounters a bioluminescent beast six thousand feet under the sea. Second - meet Burpy! (The name is a parody on Burpee Seed Co.) Thanks!

In the same vein as the Zot-Class Starship: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/3122509859/ Thanks.

Another surrealist creation illustrating, simply put, life's fragility. Here are links, as I do not believe the pics are the correct size. Thank you!

The Brick Testament - When God Attacks
SirNadroj replied to Brendan Powell Smith's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Truly top-notch work, as always. It's funny; I was reading Joel today, and contemplated building the apocalypse from this "historical" standpoint (if my choice of words makes sense.) Enough with the zombies and lone hero, already! Again, fantastic interpretation. -
Thanks for the feedback guys! I can't post all of the techniques because that would take a very long time, but I'm always happy to answer any questions.

Here's something I built for Big Toy Hut's Zombie Contest on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1007944@N25/ Now, I've never been a zombie fan, but I have been a fan of the voodoo/bayou theme. So I combined the two in a classic match-up. A bokor summons three dead corpses back to this world through the use of voodoo dolls. All pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/set...57616974290961/ And here are some random, but deep MOCs for you to ponder: Death In Life In Death http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/si...lifeindeath.jpg The Heart Is Only An Organ http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/si...ly-an-organ.jpg Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the green heads are cacti. The tree is based on the one seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maggotpie/288233901/ from Frontierland's shooting gallery. It's very fat and knotted, but gets "spindly" towards the top and ends of the limbs. Oh, and that's a tombstone.

A quick attempt at a spindly tree. (And the pics are within 800 x 600. ) Thanks.
