Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

Big W Gateways in WA had 1x 8039 Venator left, it was clearly ticketed at $100 so won't last long. About 7x 8087 Tie Defenders ($50 is still not cheap enough to get me to buy this abomination, even for parts), 8x 7594 Woody's Roundup & 20+ 7593 Buzz's Star Command Spaceship. I picked up an opened box of 7591 Construct-a-Zurg for $6 (already on special for $20) at K-Mart Gardencity because some scumbag had pilfered the alien minifig. Actually pried open the box & sliced the bag! About to try and construct-Mr-Zurg to see if the rest of the parts are complete. Don't really care as I'm not a fan of these sets but I figured it was a good deal for cheap parts. -

After the fun of standing in Target for an hour or so scanning 2 boxes of series 1 figs I decided to order a full set of series 2 off eBay instead. A seller out of HK was doing the set BIN for about AUD$84 shipped, but I managed to win an auction set for AUD$66 shipped which equates to AUD$4.125/fig. I'm happy with that, save me running around. Will be hitting my local BigW tonight for a $25 Buzz Ship, cheers for the heads up. I was *almost* going to buy the Zurg fig seperately for about $16 as I have a Buzz from the RC set, might try selling off my second Buzz instead. -

Snagged the last Slave1 at 20% off from Target Bullcreek in WA. Not much else worth grabbing honestly, lots of World Racers & Atlantis, hardly any City, a few Toy Story sets. Obviously all the sets were jacked right up to full RRP so much of the pricing wasn't *that* great even after the 20%. -

$55.22 right now Finally got around to ordering this set, logged on to BigW Online to see it had been discounted even further: Pizza Planet Truck Rescue 7598 $49.93 (Save $23.69) Good price on this one as well: Lotso's Dump Truck 7789 $28.22 (Save $9.40) Add another $7.00 for shipping so I got the lot for about $85, saved me braving the local shopping center tonight to hunt for a deal. Now if only the Garbage Truck TS3 set wasn't an expensive TRU exclusive.. -

Cheers for the heads up, went into Myer Perth tonight & there were only 2 of the Creationary sets on the shelf, looked like a big gap with a bunch missing. All the other games were well stocked. Saw one of the larger Kingdoms sets in Myer Perth so they should be out there. May I ask where you got the info about the 50% off second item? Was it a mail out thing? Would like to make sure before I go back in. I rang my local store who confirmed the offer was current but required a copy of the voucher. The girl suggested it might have been emailed out to be printed? I scoured the Myer One website to no avail. Any chance someone could post a copy if they have it? -

Update on the Series 1 Minifigs, Target Armadale has 1 box, maybe 80% full. The box is up by the registers, not in the toy section. The skateboarder is now gone as it was the last one I needed for the set. Target Cannington has 2 boxes which are maybe 50% full for each. Still a few zombies and ninjas left if anyone is keen, don't know about cheerleaders. Target Bullcreek has nothing, I heard they had a couple of boxes 2 weeks ago, couldn't find anything. $55.22 right now Tried 2 different BigW's today and both times the item scanned at $73.62, same as ticketed. Just jumped on here now to ask where you saw this price when I noticed the posts about BigW online. Aha! That would explain things. Now if only you could do a lay-by online. -

Picked up the wizard & farmer impulse sets at TRU Cannington in Perth. Maybe 10x each left on the shelf for $4.99. Not much else on special, some Space Police reduced but not super cheap. For some reason they had the Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck for $111.99! I'm sure it's only about $75 at BigW full priced, no? I managed to find 2 boxes of series 1 collectable minifies at Target which where 80-90% full. Decided to have a go at the barcode matching game since I don't have any of them yet. Pretty sure the store ended up calling in some staff to keep an eye on me since I was there for awhile. No one approached or asked if I needed any help. Perhaps I was just being paranoid. Figured out I had about 12 from a full set before realizing this was going to cost me $60. Now feeling some buyers remorse, might sell off some of the ones I'm not keen on rather than finding the ones I'm missing. Anyone up for a trade? -

Went looking for $17 Hoth sets at my local K-Mart in WA on Saturday, no joy. Also popped into BigW and can confirm: 3221 Lego Truck $43.87 8093 Plo Koon Fighter $36.72 8095 Grevious Fighter $78.74 8096 Palpy Shuttle $97.62 Didn't buy any, but I did walk out with an awesome Boba Fett helmet for $66.88! In the same vain as the previous Vader/Optimus/Clone Trooper helmets with electronic talky buttons. Sorry for the non-Lego post, but I just *had* to share. -
Hah! If it was like *my* Lego childhood world there would only be 2 houses, single story with all walls. One blue & white (mine), the other red & yellow (my little brothers). That's all we had as far as bulk bricks went, the first 2-3 brick courses in one color then switching to the other, no roofs. Good times, all those bricks are safe & sound in my parents basement, will take them back one day. Anyway, sorry for the hijack, really hard to stop myself from taking trips down memory lane around here. Great review Rufus, looking forward to picking this set up, has some nice little features. Hopefully I can get 2-3 on sale and build up something more substantial that will fit in with my modulars, yet still retain the feel & details.

I grabbed Luke's Landspeeder from BigW in WA last week, had to scour the store. They had 2 of them hidden behind 2 Freesco Speeders up the front in the season toy sale section, nothing at all in the regular toy section. Didn't realize at the time that the Galactic Enforcer was so cheap, I think the toy sale is finished at BigW, but I better go check for stock tomorrow and hope it's still got a clearance price on it. -
Thanks guys, it has recently appeared as "NEW" on the Australian S@H store but usually the brick & mortars have sets at a better price. We also get some weird store exclusives in Australia. I asked in a local Toyworld store and they said there might be another round of new stuff mid year as it's not featured in our 2010 catalogue. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Any ideas when this set is coming out in Australia? Has it been out & I missed it (not long out of my DA)? Is/was it exclusive to a particular store? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Oh bollocks, I was about to order one of these sets off BrickLink since the Aus S@H prices are so inflated, when I got shipping quotes a few weeks ago in March the avg sale price was about USD$145 and now its jumped up to USD$248 on the back of this news. This is worse than the stock market, I almost rue the day when I found out about BrickLink. #fistshake

Nice review. This set was also my first step out of the Lego dark ages, although it took quite a few more years to make my second step. I managed to get this at K-Mart in Aus on closeout for AUD$99, I'm sure it was at least AUD$199 RRP. Of course the stickers went straight on and the ones on the canopy are starting to peel a little bit, I didn't know any better at the time. The set still sits proudly atop my DVD shelf collecting dust. It's taken a few tumbles throughout the years, but always manages to get a few ooooohs and aaahhhs from friends and family when they visit. Thanks for this blast from the past.

Just curious where the above quote was taken from? I've looked through his gallery on Flickr and can't find the "making of" shot as seen on Giz. Any chance of a link? Cheers.
