No Midi Star Destroyers at Kmart Kardinya or Garden City, WA. :( Was waiting for them to come down in price. Anyone seen stocks elsewhere? -

Stopped past Big W Riverton on Friday night, just in case. Got excited for a second when I saw 4x Hogwarts Express behind a $60 clearance tag, alas it was mis-shelved. The $60 price was for the Toy Story train, of which they had none. Hogwarts Express was $114 everyday price. No Woody's Roundup, plenty of Wampa & Palpy Shuttle, 2x Clone Turbo Tanks. Bugger, I was there Friday after work but there seemed to be a big hole on the shelves near the older police sets, was looking to pick that one up. Can't wait for 3661 Bank & Money Transfer and 7286 Prisoner Transport. I got sucked back in with Star Wars, then grabbed a modular building & some Creator houses, next was a train set or three and now I need to build up a City to run some track around. I really hate Lego, it's sending me broke. =[ -

Not much luck at Big W Cockburn one Clone Turbo Tank on the shelf I think a lady was trying to lay-buy two of them which you can't do on clearance items. Plenty of Wampa Cave, Palpy Shuttle & Slave 1s plus the World Racers set. Managed to resist, will keep an eye on them for further reductions. Decided to try Big W Phoenix, they had 4x Toy Story Trains, and maybe 6x each of the Dump Truck and Pizza Planet Truck. No Woody's Roundup, Trash Compactor Escape or Zurg, which are the ones I was after. Good hunting. -

I can also confirm Endor was not on clearance, got the girl to scan it for me, $199 stickered price. I've been hanging out to get that set for a decent price for a long time. Myer Perth had a whole bunch of them in the Xmas sales for about $160 and they either put them in storage or sold a whole bunch because I haven't seen many since. $100-$120 would be nice, even lower would be ideal, they were only USD$99 RRP but they've been around since before the dollar picked up. I'm glad my patience with the Fire Brigade payed off, I actually had one on lay-buy when Myer had the "No Deposit" mid-year toy sale but it was only $249 so I ended up cancelling it without making any payments. Nothing here, would have been quite easy to get them to stack with the 30% off clearance items I think, the young girl working Thursday night didn't seem to familair with any of the pricing. Best of luck. -

Thanks for the tipoff on the Myer 30% off clearance sets. Went in tonight and picked up the last Fire Brigade from the Garden City store in Perth. They had signs up mentioning the sale but no special tags on the clearance items, had to get the sales girl to scan a few sets for me to check. Like others have said, the extra price reduction came up automatically on the new till system. GC store had a few Clone Turbo Tanks scanning at $125 but I'm not a huge Clone Wars fan and I've spent way too much on these little plastic bricks lately. -
I'm also planning on taking over the roof space of our first home (currently under construction). The pitch of the roof isn't that great and the house itself is extremely narrow so there is absolutely no chance I'll be able to stand up (I'm 6'2") even at the highest point, but hopefully I'll still have some usable space. I'm thinking a wheeled office chair with the back removed could act like a garage crawler to scoot around on. My real concern will be avoiding the air-conditioner ducting and all the truss work. It's gonna be fun, fingers crossed.

The Myer buy 2 get 1 free deal is actually going for 3 days, until Saturday 29th. Lots of signs all over the toy section in the Perth CBD store. -

That's a bit strange, wonder why the guy I just spoke to couldn't tell me, maybe he legitimately wasn't sure. Ah well, looks like I'm going to miss out. =[ -

ARGH! How did you find that out? I was in there tonight, put one of the Emerald Nights on lay-by, definitely new stock, they had about 30 of them. 15 on the shelf and another 15 in the cages to the side under all the new Star Wars sets. Unfortunately I've got to go to Albany early tomorrow and I won't be able to do any swapsies. Just rang the store and the guy wouldn't confirm or deny the sale, but sort of hinted that his manager said there might be something happening tomorrow and it might be a toy sale. If I cancelled my lay-by I'd lose $6.50 service fee and if I took out a new lay-by on the sale price I'd cop another one. So $149 -25% is $111.75 + $13 = $124.75. Still a $25 saving on a set that I REALLY want. Argh, what to do, what to do? -

Yeah I'm not too sure, I mean its not like it's some kind of "right" for us to buy things cheap. If the owner chooses to exclude things from what is claimed to be a storewide sale then I guess that's his right. Is it unfair & a bit sad, well yeah, but I dunno if he is breaking any laws. Having said that, his decision will affect where & with whom I spend my money in the future, so I hope he considered that when making his choice. Sorry I shouldn't take this any further into the whole Gerry Harvey/Big Retailers mess that's been in the media lately, I'm sure there is a dedicated thread for that kind of debate. -

Went for a looksee, shelves were bare. I asked the owner if he got cleaned out over Xmas? He said Lego wanted him to remove a lot of stuff for the sale, Star Wars, City, Harry Potter, etc. So it was all hiding out the back, no wonder you weren't too impressed, they usually have twice the amount of stuff. Pretty disappointing. =[ Ah the mini fig head sort & store, totally forgot to grab one of those! I was on holiday in Victoria when they came out over Xmas and didn't fancy trying to haul one back to Perth on the plane. I've only been to BigW Success in WA and haven't noticed them on the floor. Can anyone tell me if they've seen them recently in any of the Perth BigW stores? -

Heh, that was sposed to be jokes, trying to protect my secret stash. They've got (had?) a few of the older Star Wars sets that you will only find online. But yes, since I've grown accustomed to checking this thread multiple times a day & never paying full price, the RRP prices at Toyworld aren't much of a draw even if they have hard to find sets. Strong AUS dollar is also affecting my buy price descisions. Might go see if they have any train tracks though, been bitten by a new bug after picking up that bargain DJs Cargo train set. Kicking myself for nit buying multiples now. -

Oh, stay away from there, nothing good there at all, nope, not a thing, no hard to find old stock, nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Seriously, stay away, don't waste your time. /me backs away slowly... -
Gorgeous, did you build the engine from a plan or is it your own design?Sorry, I'm new to trains so this might be an obvious one for the old timers around here. I'd love to get something like this going around my tree in the future. Very nice indeed, and great photos.

Went in to my local to grab the Hogwarts Express & Tantive IV but I was annoyed that they mark these items as "Clearance" rather than just being a sale price, so I wasn't able to lay-by. What a stupid rule, it's like they don't want my money. Ended up grabbing both anyway, prices too good to miss, not sure how I'll explain it to wifey. o_0 This was Kardinya Kmart in WA by the way, the Express was the only Harry Potter set left on the shelves, probably another 4-5 Tantives. The other clearance stuff didn't seem that well discounted. Happy new year AFOLs, fingers crossed for even more bargains in 2011 (this habit is getting out of control) and thanks for all your input into my absolute favorite thread on the board. -

Damn, you beat me to it, I was also in there after work. Saw the staff pull 6 GE's out of boxes tonight, though 2 of them were very badly munted up. As far as the 25% sale goes, I had to pay off my lay-by then get a refund & re-buy it at the sale price. They weren't able to simply adjust the price on the computer, though they're running quite an ancient system so this isn't surprising. 25% off all toys until the 16th, no special requirements. -

Just got this one from the BigW specials email: Free delivery on Lego from BigW Online. Offer ends Monday December 13th. In the past BigW Online prices have been even better than the price reductions seen in store, I haven't gone through what's on offer at the moment, but it might be worth looking into. Thanks for the heads up on DJ's 25% off offer, I'll have to go see if they will adjust the price on my lay-by'd Grand Emporium without making me do the buy/refund/re-buy dance. -

On Thursday I called DJs Karrinyup and was told they had 3 units in stock, got one put on hold for me & was preparing to trek North on Friday arvo to grab it. Then on Friday I got a call from the CBD store where I had left my name and the lady said another unit had become available since it was on hold for awhile & the person no longer wanted it. Great for me since I work near the city & it's open late on Friday. When I got there the box was a bit beat up with two sections where sticky taped notes had ruined the artwork. It was the only one they had so I asked for a discount, no problems, got an extra 10% off, happy with that. Also noticed the other cargo train was gone. Signs still advertising it for $139 were up & no sign suggesting an error/apology. So there might still be 3 Grand Emporiums left at Karrinyup if anyone is still hunting. -

I can confirm that Perth CBD DJs are honouring the $139 Cargo Train price. They had two of them on the shelves last night, I grabbed one and resisted the urge to take the other and profiteer on ebay. I hope this goodwill toward other Lego buyers comes back to me in the form of a Grand Emporium, Perth seems to be getting very small numbers of these and I keep missing out. =[ Pretty sure I was dealing with the fulltimer in charge of toys and she wasn't aware that it was a pricing error. It scanned in at $239 and when I mentioned the catalogue & pointed at the in-store signage, she just said "oops must be a mistake" and changed it no hassles. -

If the cargo train ever comes down to similar dollars I will certainly snap it up. Dunno what the chances are since it's full priced stickered at $299 as opposed to $229 for the passenger train at Myer. Any suggestions why they're priced so differently? At first glance the two kits look similar, just that the design of the passenger train is kind of boring imho. Bunch of savages in this town! Not the first time that's happened to the same set in the same store, a few months back there was a Ven with massive box damage all taped up & specialed off at about $100. Pretty sure someone was after the figs. I got my complete set for $90 ages ago so not interested. Absolutely gutted I didn't check here yesterday (Saturday) and notice that surprise Myer 20+10% sale. Certainly would have been worth a shot to try and get the stacked discounts even though I'm sure they weren't supposed to do it that way.
