Does anybody else like Motorcycles around here?
banditloon replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Community
When I past my bike test back in '93, I wanted a Ducati Monster! I just loved the look of them, the trelis frame, the single headlight, the double exhausts and of course, being a Duc, the rattling, clanking clutch but always found them out of my price range. After being knokced off my first two bikes, Kawasaki AR125 and a Honda NSR125, I went for a Yamaha Diversion 600 as my first bike and it still remains the worst bike I have ever owned and I will never buy a Yamaha again, unless Rossi gives me his one. Then on to the mad bikes, a Kawasaki ZX6r, my first brand new bike back in '97. Mad thing and I miss it dearly as I sold it to become a sensible home owner and 'grew up'. Could call it a motorcycle dark age! In '99 I bought a Suzuki Bandit, which I still have now. It doesn't look anything like that now, as I have decided to turn it back to the original. Before the big one, for my 30th I decided to buy something useful for the roads around the South East of England. Bearing in mind the speed limit here is 70mph, with most of the roads actually being either 30 or 40mph, policed by speed cameras and pot holes! So whilst all my friends are riding around on Gixers and Ninjas (and one of my friends owns an Aprilia RSV Factory), I went for the sensible option Aprilia RS125! Mad thing, I even took it on track days at Brands Hatch! It was nice to undertake Gixers and Ninjas and other sports things on the little stink wheel on bends. Stuffed in the straights though!!! And finally, after 13 years of having a bike licence, and being in a relationship with an Italian at the time; Three Italians in one house... Just a bit expensive!!! And in my sig is the state it is in three years later. The previous owner had neglected it! She'll be back on the road for this summer! (BTW The Alfa blew up as well) -

Today I actually headed out to the Lego store at Bluewater after a bad day at work for some retail therapy: Two Star Wars magnet sets, Han Solo, Scout Trooper & Paploo and then Stormtrooper, Y-Wing pilot & AT-ST Pilot 7606 Lego Creator Frog for my mum. She collects frogs and she 'needs' a Lego one in her collection and it only cost £1 for charity Now big spending time, as I am trying to build a town layout inside my train layout at work; 7641 http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/7641_Life 7567 http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/7567_Traveller only really because I saw the camera and thought 'I could make a Lego me now!!' 8398 http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/8398_BBQ_Stand I remember having the ice cream vendor in my old set before the dark ages and this reminded me of it. That's it, I'm broke for the rest of March now!! At least I have lots of things to build now Oh, I forgot.. haha... 21002 http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/21002_Empire_State_Building As I remember going to NYC when I was 18

This name has just stuck with me since the heady days of being a member of AOhells Bikechat forum. I owned a Suzuki Bandit and rode it like a Loon. Well the Loon bit is easy, I still enjoy Looney Tunes cartoons

What is the funniest things you have heard said about Lego?
banditloon replied to Sisco's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Last night I was trying to explain to my friend I had a bad day at work and I lost an auction on Ebay. "What were you bidding on?" Some bits for my train set "I didn't know you had got a train set, what Hornby one is it?" No, it's a Lego one! "Are you sure Lego make train sets?" SLAP!! And today I got the opposite comment from one of my colleagues whilst talking about her son being addicted to Xbox games and her other son being a party animal "At least you have your photography, bikes and Lego" -
My first train was I made a track around my Lego town setup when I was a child out of the old blue tracks and filled in some of the gaps with just any old bricks I could find. Fast forward nearly 25 years and my sister has given me my nephews I need to get it off the desk and working on a new Lego town AFOL layout at work! And you can just spot my old 7810 to the left of the picture

Hi all, I have just been re-introduced to the train sets, but my time with them goes way back to the early 80's. My parents at the time owned a sweet shop (most popular kid in school was I!!), and out the back of the shop was a huge garage and store room. The store room (probably about 10'x8') was converted into a Lego town paradise! I have yet to find any photos of my old layout, but I did have an old 7810 steam train and made some carriages to go on the old blue tracks I had been given by either my sister or step brother. In 1987 or 88 my nephew got the 7745 for Christmas and I can still remember spending most of Boxing Day putting the set together for him. Train whizzing round the lounge, annoying the family and keeping my nephew and myself amused for most of the day! Then I went off Lego. My parents moved from the shop to a flat, I lost most of my Lego collection and didn't really do much bricking until I got a PS2 and Lego Star Wars came out! After buying a couple of the Indiana Jones sets and Stars Wars sets during 2008 & 2009, I bouhgt a couple of Creator sets to complete at work, 6747 motorcycle and 6748 Fire rescue then I was seeing myself get hooked into Lego again. My sister contacted me three weeks ago and told me she had made a discovery in her loft. In a box right at the back, and it seemed to be complete was my nephews old 7745 set. A bit dirty but other than that seems to be complete. Then the offer from my sister "do you want it?" After a 140 mile round trip along the M25 the old train set was back in my office being cleaned up. Track set up and the old rubbers replaced with a couple of o-rings (new wheels now on way), the electric motor whizzed into life and the train was flying round the meeting table at work! Good job I am the boss really! So now I am in need of lots of additions! I know I should be rebuilding a Ducati Monster but hey, the old Lego trains are more fun and it is too cold at the moment to be riding around on one of those dangerouse motorcycle things!!! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/banditlo...OB/img_0001.jpg It's back on my desk shelf at home now. I don't trust the *kids* who drive the forklifts at work! I'll get the inifinity curve out soon and get some decent shots of the train and some of my (feeble) layout. Then again I do have a 2000sq ft empty space to fill ;)

Quiet day today. Just bought some 12v train wheel rubbers. Got my eye on a couple of level crossings and a station now. I'm glad it is pay day on Friday!!

I bought the platform for my 7745 Trainset on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...amp;mfe=sidebar

Hi, my name is Dan and I've just been re-introduced to Lego after nearly 25 years!! My sister found my nephews old and complete 7745 train set in the loft of her house. A quick phone call and it is now sitting on my desk as I type this! It has been in the loft for 20 years, and it is still working! After another weekend of searching through boxes in my garage, I have found a large 50ltr plastic box full of Lego and instructions in very tatty condition. Peeron here I come!!! So far, I have found Lego is good for someone giving up smoking! I'm not going to tell the doctor this, otherwise it'll spoil everyone elses fun! Apart from my new found love of Lego, I do dabble in some photography and also a lot of motorcycle riding. Enjoy and build big!!!
