Review: 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer
banditloon replied to starstreak's topic in LEGO Star Wars
So far I think I've picked the thrusters up about ten times off the floor. But then again, the thrusters on the mamouth ISD don't hold together that well either. -
Review: 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer

Excellent review. I bought 8099 today and just spent the last hour watching Ferris Bueller and making it. Just thought I would add this picture of the two ISD together. -
I'm spending too much cash on Lego.... 4484 Mini X-Wing & Tie Advanced set, unopened! and two Imperial Guards to finish off my USC Star Destroyer display.
-
Just bought the 10030 USC Imperial Star Destroyer.... There goes my Ducati repair fund

I haven't posted in here for a while, then that means I haven't spent any money for a while Right, today Apart from the free Racer kit in todays newspaper 30030 7749 Echo Base for £19.99 in TrU, cheaper than Tesco!! And 3845 Shave a Sheep for some unknown reason....

All the above are excellent techniques. I have an infinity curve, photography tent with different coloured backgrounds but no decent flash. I'll have to save up the pennies and not buy and Lego for a month and get a 580EX II flash for the old Canon, or a couple of spotlights. Best thing about taking photos of Lego (or anything you can just adjust without it running away screaming), just experiment with different backgrounds and camera settings until you find the right one for you.

Today I boxed up my train and town lay out. Time to redesign it. My brother appeared this afternoon on his new Yamaha Fazer so I had to take the p**s out of him for buying it!

Thanks Beer. I'm down to a half full 50ltr box of bricks now. As Beer said, the Shell service station is set number 6378. I keep finding lots of bricks with those Shelll stickers on from the Idea Books
-
Grey table cloth still to be found and a decent dust sheet, but a few more sets have been added now. Must remember to push the yellow bricks together tomorrow morning Large version! Large version!

Today I have again spent too much money on the dreaded, evil compulsive addiction I have gained every time I go into Tesco, or as in todays case, Tescos did not have much of a choice of Lego so I went into TrU next door and bought; 7195 Ambush in Cairo 3179 Repair Truck 626 & 628 green and grey baseplates
-
Good call The police station and petrol stations have both arrived today, so I will knuckle down to some building tomorrow and also find a bigger dust sheet.

I managed to get hold of these from the store I was working in at the time before they went on display. Still can't find my huge box of Lego I had somewhere with all my classic Castle and town bricks in. Some you win, some you lose

I can't believe myself at times! I knew I had some Lego stashed somewhere in my flat. And tonight has proved to be very fruitful in the search for the lost Lego. I bought a Snowtrooper Battle Pack today and was beginning to wonder what ever happened to my three classic SW sets from 1999. They have surfaced again, and are finally going to see the dawn of a new era. I'm happy now. I just need to make some space to display them properly
-
Just been in my cupboard to dig out my old 7130, 7140 and 7150 sets, to go with todays purchase of 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack from my local supermarket, I hope they still have the Rebel Battle Pack left on the shelf tomorrow morning! Then missed the junction for Bluewater on the way home, as I wanted to see what I could spend some more cash on in the Lego Store.. Teach me to think about other things rather than Lego whilst driving Just realised, I've had the Snowspeeder, X-Wing and Tie Fighter vs Y-wing set in my cupboard for nearly 10 years...

Excellent pics Strider406 I'll have to remember to take a couple of minifigs out with me on my next photo shoot. Minifigs appearing in wedding photos. That'll be interesting

A few boxes to go yet and a few more to receive from Bricklink and Ebay. I have enough base plates to cover the table but they are discoloured, then again I think I am after 25 years as well lol!

I think I'm doing the oposite, adding the town to the train ;o) It adds a bit of nostalgia to the new town display. The postman arrived to day with three big boxes of Lego purchases from the classic town. So I may even have to set up a Classic Town quarter and a new City quarter. Lots of tourists required

My last attempt at building a railway around a town must of been back in about 1982. With no room at home to have a permanent display on show, I have decided to move up from the 'room behind the garage' plan to the space under my mezzanine office at work plan. At the moment the space is filled up with a Suzuki Bandit in pieces, an old dining room table, a couple of clothes rails and some filing cabinets as well as a weight bench and stationery for work. Step one, clean the table off as this is going to be a temporary home for the train display. I had found my old road baseplates in my garage, but the old ones have become discoloured and bent. Time to replace them with some of the new dark grey things then. "so what is this bloke doing then? Where is everybody and every thing? And why aren't you driving the bus?" "DON'T JUMP, THE PIZZA ARE NOT THAT BAD!!" "But the train isn't here yet!" Simple oval laid out, small town scene in the middle. As the saying goes, "I need a bigger table!" For those lazy minifigs there are two platforms, if they do not want to chance the bus (or walking, loads of police on the street(s)) Got to have a place for the bikers of Legoland to meet. Drumsticks all round then I've found some old, but nice looking packing case boards in the corner of the warehouse (2m by 4m), so I can see these being used when I get a quiet moment to sort through my plastic stacking boxes of bricks. Hopefully the local TrU will get some more road baseplates in soon, so I can start filling the middle section of the table up. I have another full oval of 12v track in one of the boxes but only the 7745 train at the moment. Police and petrol station to build this week (as well as some proper work to do as well). I know it's small at the moment, but my main aim today was to make sure the train and rails all worked and just to have some quiet time atemping my first build for a long time. Then again, we all have to start somewhere. "Take a picture of me will you.. I'll show you!" I've just downloaded BlueBrick.. Oh dear, this is going to get expensive

Does anybody else like Motorcycles around here?
banditloon replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Community
The number of times I have had bikers come up to me a ask "your bike shouldn't make that noise, get it to a garage" Open airbox, open clutch cover, Termi exhausts.. If it didn't make that noise then it is broken! hehe!! I must see the mechanic tomorrow to make sure he has now got the right piston rings. I'm a conformist! and biking -
