  1. How did I miss this? Actually the legs are pretty stable, it was the central part of the body that needed some re-enforcement to keep it from sagging under the weight of the batterybox. No problems with the chains, at least so far... Also, I've just put up on Youtube a new red and tan spider if anyone's interested.
  2. is looking for parts!

  3. How about something really different, like three three thousand piece working model of one of these:
  4. I would concur, I think your best bet for avoiding the alignment problem is to use the clutch parts suggested above. I've also found that a problem with the 24 tooth gear to 12 tooth double bevel combo is that it tends to slip if you give it a lot of torque. In general with walkers, if the legs have to carry the weight of the battery box, you also need a good bit of gear reduction in order to get it to work without ripping itself apart somewhere. Hope you post pictures when you're done, I'd like to see your implementation of Theo-style legs...
  5. Too cool. I had to watch it like three times to believe it.
  6. I usually just let Lsynth tell me how many I need, then order a few extra just in case...
  7. I was thinking about entering this "offroader": http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/telecast...er/img_1171.jpg But mahjqa's right, I should build something new. Hmmm. Thinking...
  8. Mine was a small dragonfly: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4350272
  9. I also voted for luc's little red plane. Looks like it uses a cool linkage to raise and lower the landing gear; plus working control surfaces.
  10. Hmmm.... Allanp, maybe "bragging rights" wasn't exactly the right phrase to express what I meant. I didn't mean that anyone was "bragging," just that this was a good way for lots of folks who dig technic to share their creations and have a little competitive fun at seeing who wins. The chance to maybe win a free set was just icing on the cake. What I especially liked was that all within a few days seeing a whole bunch of cool flying machines suddenly appear on BS and elsewhere around the web. (It even motivated me to get off my lazy couch and set up a BS folder for my humble creation.) I hope folks continue to create MOCs for each of the subsequent monthly installments. I like seeing what everyone else comes up with...
  11. Easy come, easy go. Judging from the caliber of the models that I saw up-loaded to Brickshelf in the days just before the deadline to enter, I got the sense that folks were competing mostly for bragging rights anyways. Looked as though the time and energy spent on the designs far exceeded whatever the suggested retail value of the actual prize. FWIW, I think the DaVinci flyer wins, with grohl's most cool mantis a close second. Very cool MOCs all around though. --Scott
