  1. I told myself I would jump off a cliff if I didn't get the next lego set with a laptop. Ah well, it's almost as if the lego is trying to diappoint me with this set. I kind of had a warped and glorified image of this set when I saw the prelims, kind of like how I thought the Winter Bakery had a blonde elsa hair. I originally thought that it had dark brown agent trace hair andthis female face, but it is disappoiting that it has that "beauty spot" face, which I personally think doesn't look good. Also, I pray to god I don't start a racism firefight and derail this well-done review, but the large amount of redhead hairpieces is disappointing because I simply don't have much use for them. This set also has a lot of the "mechanic" torsos and emergency minfigs, which I definitely don't need more of. Some civilian torsos like the green sweater and white hoodie would be better. But enough complaining, this set has many excellent parts, such as that green bike, the "shedload" of rare food pieces (although it's sad to see the croissant didn't get in), blonde ponytails, and the sheer amount of uncommon pieces in this set. This set has many disappointments, but I guess your review convinced me that I should still buy it. Keep on reviewing!
  2. Not as many rare and wanted parts in this set as the city one. I'm not buying it, considering the price point. The more I look at this set, the more it looks like a mish-mash of parts from sets that didn't sell too well. Excellent review though. Also, those white clams were also availible in a Spongebob set, I believe it was Mrs. Puff's Boating School or something like that. It came with 2.
  3. The first part may be true, but no matter what you say I say that the company is doing us a great service by releasing this set, pray to god it is availible in America. Just look at the parts, there is a tan bag, tan fedora, green bike(!), 2 blonde ponytails, a laptop, a trophy, 2 baguettes, green and red cherries, an apple, a carrot, 2 extra carrot green "bud" pieces, a Popsicle, pizza, blue bucket, lime and orange caps, new dog, crowbar, new backpack, skiis, etc. The list goes on and on! The moment I see this set on the shelf I'm snatching it up! There's too many rare parts in this one set to ignore it!
  4. Not to derail the thread or anything, but there is a brown smiley face head from that one Slave 1 set that could theoretically be used for a black female.
  5. I am very disappointed in the introduction of a new space theme. Just when I thought my bank account would recover from the heavy spending on the space police theme, it seems what little is left in my poor wallet will now be drained out... I love the look of the minifigures. I was originally expecting it to be modern-day, on-earth kind of thing, but the space suit is promising. The trans-clear visor will find its way into many of my mocs. I hope the civilian figures are wearing spacesuits too, but regardless, this "ADF" soldier will be used as one anyway due to its funky color scheme. I was originally hoping for the soldiers to look like this: Overall, the space-woman is promising, and I indeed hope for the classic space variety of spacesuit colors that everyone is discussing. The alien looks almost like a Gammorrean Guard from Star Wars, but the comical appearance and the ghetto look will help it fit perfectly with my space police criminals. Wait a minute, is that a series 1 ray gun? My relentless army-building of spacemen was in vain. No seriously, I was scared that the ray-gun piece would never show up again in grey, but it seems now to be available in commercial sets. I like that, that piece is so versatile and its usage in space mocs is near infinite.
  6. Indeed, I have known about these playmobil sets and have even bought some of the roman ones for the novelty value. The romans are great, and the idea of a full-blown roman/Egypt theme is something Lego should adopt. I for one would jump at the opportunity to buy such sets. However, even right now there are ways to replicate a roman/Egyptian theme. For instance, the collectible minifigures have many useful figs, such as the "spartan" soldier and the Egyptian pharaoh. Also, with some modding it would be possible to make a decent chariot from this: Additionally, the pharaoh's quest theme has brought some ancient egyptian structures, albeit <insert that tiresome argument>, to the world of lego. Also of note is the revival of the pharaoh's headdress and sarcophahus, in addition to the half-human bird and anubis god figs and the new Egyptian accessories.. And finally, the by-far most useful set for these purposes is the new Atlantis set, with an army of roman columns and other roman features: Of course, there is still some missing things as you said. For instance, while tunics are possible with lego capes, a real tunic piece would be welcome, also, as you said, a Colosseum is something that will never be made outside a fully-fledged roman theme. A lion piece is something lego has never done, and more "proper" ancient egypt things are needed. But overall, while lego itself may never release an ancient civilizations line, it has fed us with enough raw material to let us cobble some roman and egyptian stuff together with our imaginations.
  7. Oh well, these 2011 sets complicate things... What should I get for Christmas now, the Portal of Atlantis or the Temple of Atlantis? Anyway, the temple is pretty well designed and will make a great home for my Spartans. The crab though looks pretty cluthuloid for my tastes. the arms look kind of small next to fat claws and head, but those puny legs, if I ever get a crab the legs will need some modding. The angler looks decent and could a close associate of jawson. The Hammerhead for some reason reminds me of Man-Ray from spongebob. The trans yellow is great for blacktronners along with 2010's space police baddy vehicles, overall the colorscheme became better, unlike Power Miner's monstrous blue and lime. Definitely going to have to pick up one.

    MOC: Tan SUV

There actually was a Spider Man set with a tan car. I have it, but it's destroyed. It's also late for me, so I'm not going to look for it right now. Just saying. As for the SUV, it's very nice and realistic. I personally haven't seen a tan door either, but I find the blue windows fine. They compliment the tan nicely. My only gripe is the placement of the doors. When you open them, the sides of the windows block most of the entry, and so look unnatural. I suggest pushing the doors back one stud.
  9. Hmmph. I have about two hundred dollars to spend on legos later this year. I've kind of spoiled myself, having every single space police set up to early 2010, so I've been thinking about buying the remaining space police sets to perfect my collection. However, also wrangling for the money are the new power miners sets(I want to collect every rock monster, kind of hard to give up) and the portal to Atlantis set(I already have all five rings, just want the portal emperor. Have two keychains, one still a WIP and the other one's helmet got mutilated while attempting to remove the keychain). Can anybody give me some recommendations on how to spend my money?? About 2011, if anyone has seen the July lego magazine, the space police comic featuring the undercover ship and the limo, it has a whole bunch of civilian ships in the comic. It's most likely bogus like the elves theme, probably more so because it's a comic, but it could be sign of things to come. If lego actually made them, they would fly off the shelves like hotcakes. On a more realistic note, it looks like Space Police is running out of steam. Pirates was an "evergreen" theme, and the 2009 one died after 2-3 years, so nothing protects space police from the same fate. This is only compounded by the fact that Klaus-Dieter, who peeked inside a 2011 retail catalog, hasn't mentioned anything about space police for 2011 and that the entire theme is acting like it's dying(Massive full-theme first wave, tiny intermediate wave, smaller second wave). Personally I hope lego has something under wraps for the space police, like medieval market or the imperial flagship. Perhaps a humongous spaceship, or, even better, a small space civilian center(bank? mall? cargo port?) with some truly civilian ships in it. That would be awesome, and even knowing the price of exclusives, I would be willing to buy it. This is off topic, probably by a couple thousand years in the lego universe, but if they really did come out with a space police "last set, theme-killing extravaganza, mother of all space police sets, bang", I would regret my medieval market purchase. Edit: Dammit! It seems that while I was typing another dude thought of the EXACT same thing as I did. This makes a full third of my post redundant. But I do agree with him. Lego is moving towards having numerous but shorter themes.
  10. If you brasso the prints off the armor, you'll have to buy more to dress your agents . Anyway, it's only a possibility, not a fact. Back on topic, to the dude who suggested the SWAT team, the commandos look like a swat team already. Adding an official one would be redundant. I personally like the older regular space police better though, they look more like soldiers than the new ones, which is always a good thing.
  11. Aanchir, Lego is known for changing designs all the time, so the body armor could have been redesigned in-between power miners and agents. The helmet is a smidgeon loose, but it's not even noticeable.
  12. And you were saying Aanchir? Anyway, from a standpoint of a completist, I personally hope this line dies out this year. From an unbiased standpoint though, I personally hope they include some space civilians. The most recent lego magazine had a space police comic featuring the late 2010 sets and a couple random civilian ships. It could end up just being fake like the "elves" theme, but it shows lego isn't completely incapable of making civilians. I like this forum. It's intelligent discussions about lego.
