  1. i see. I'm going to attempt to build one of those observation cars to end my emerald night with.
  2. Im trying to get a bunch of emerald night coaches. I hope to eventually get 10. I currently only have 5; one first class, two second class, two third class. Here are my questions: 1) Should first class be at the beginning or the end of the train? At first you'd think beginning, but that is the noisiest and smokiest part. 2) First class is obviously the luxurious car. But what about the other two? I saw one person had the idea of packing second class full of wooden benches. What would third class be though? 3) Finally, how do I end this train? It doesn't look right with the end coach opening into nothing. Would a caboose of sorts be appropriate? Would it follow the same colors as the other coaches? While looking up Flying dutchman photos, i saw what looked to be the equivilant of the santa fe observation car. 4)this kinda goes back to question one: If the train should end with an observation car, does this pretty much show that first class should be at the end, and connected to the observation car? 5 Lastly, I always thought it looked weird that there was an opening in the coaches directly to the engine tender. Is this normal, or should there be a "Lead" car?
  3. I think flex track needs to have click joints; so when you set it to a curve, it stays at that curve.
  4. It can be useful, but using only flex track is horrible. there is no way to lock it into a position other than straight. it is great for having to bridge short gaps though
  5. lol i thought the same thing. going thorugh flickr, there are a lot of them.
  6. does doing this damage the tracks at all? I don't want to break those little clips in the middle.
  7. i am located in the US. I am willing to ship overseas, but the cost of shipping may not be worth it. feel free to ask any questions http://shop.ebay.com/pythongames/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340
  8. This isn't true. I built a steam engine based on the Toy Story train, that is smaller than the emerald night but still looks good with the large wheels. see? I'm really disappointed in the set. the price of the HP train is only slightly less than the emerald night. They could have easily used the large wheels and made it look like the real harry potter train. I still plan on buying the set, but i'm going to make it more like the real train from the movies.
  9. I thought it was cool too. Real shame that the AAA battery box doesnt have it.
  10. The rechargable battery box has a built in speed regulator which you could use. just turn off the battery box, set it, then go. otherwise, your train will go too fast.
  11. yeah, i thought the TS train was also overly tall, so I made it shorter. then again, the TS train i made used very few parts from the actual train. I still have a mostly built TS train body that i haven't destroyed yet.
  12. I love your idea of turning that tanker trunk set into train cars. Mind if I steal that idea and make a few changes? i'd get rid fo the train baseplate plate, make the tank taller (use red bricks instead of red plates maybe), and just connect the wheelsets to the technic holes on the bottom of the green pieces.
  13. I was under the impression that the set was wildly popular, and that is the reason an AFOL remake of it was on the cover of the hobby train set.
  14. yup. wheels are the same as on the emerald night. You can actually just toss a PF motor on there, and that will do it. Of course, I tried to motorize it and this is what happened:
  15. 8 wide is amazing. lots of detail, and not too big for standard track. 7 wide is pretty nice too, and fits well with both 6 and 8 wide. If you have only a few parts that are 9 wide, that loooks alright with 8 wide.
  16. Alright, I Tried to order some PF train parts, and learned this: 1) The PF train motor will be sold at S@H after christmas 2) The 9V battery box will be sold at S@H after christmas 3) The Rechargable battery box may come down in price around this same time 4) A train wheel pack will be coming out as well (dunno what this will include) 5) Straight track is currently cheaper to buy from the curve and straight pack track. 8 pieces of straight alone will cost 17.99 6) A straight track pack is being considered 7) Flex track may be changed I also asked about future train sets and he said he cant say anything
  17. used an xacto knife. the plastic cut like butter.
  18. so, do the people who use tables do anything to guard against things falling off? i got some tables set up, and had all 5 santa fe cars and a santa fe super cheif fall off the side and shatter. took me hours to find all the parts and put them back together.
  19. darn, one car longer than mine.
  20. oh wow, i did something entirely different. I just scraped the inside, so the walls were thinner.
  21. thanks a ton. i've began shaving. I went a head and shaved the whole slot (instead of just the green part) to make it work better. its amazing how soft the plastic is. OH WOW! I did it to all 5 of my santa fe cars and my santa fe engine. It can now go fast enough to fall off the track around corners! i bet a single PF train motor actually COULD pull 13 santa fe cars. Alright, i tossed 15 heavy passenger cars (including 2 club car and 5 santa fe car!) onto the train, and though it struggles when pulling, it actually can pull them all. Since it can pull all those, i'd assume it can pull 13 santa fe cars. a second motor in a B unit would be extremely helpful though.

  23. in railbricks 2 it says that we should cut the wheelsets in order to prevents rubbing. where do i cut them at though? I didnt' understand the diagram.
  24. I currently have my 4559 turned into a black and yellow metroliner with two club cars. its pretty awesome and I look forward to turning it into PF. another thing about the charger for the battery pack: You only need one. You can also use much cheaper universal adapters. Though I feel the batteries need to be much cheaper, you can save on them by buying 5 PF things at a time. And you can also buy the AAA battery boxes from lego for extremely cheap.
  25. i also think we would have the new AAA battery box up. but we might not though, because it would make them lose sales from the overpriced rechargable ones. (does it make me a hypocrite that i own several of those overpriced boxes?)
