  1. There's another ballista fan here! :-D I think your modifications made the Longship superior to the original set. Ever thought of doing away with the cage, too?
  2. As others have said, this one is your best Viking work yet. I think being Technic-y is not a problem here, this goes very well with the Viking line. I was thinking of using the Fenris head for a battering ram myself, but I don't suppose I could make a better one. Congrats!
  3. I think this looks like an armoured vehicle out of a Mad Max movie. Very imaginative! ;-) BTW, I'm thinking of a "crossover" Viking MOC at the moment, too.
  4. Everything has been said before, so I'll just add that this is one of the 3 best MOC's I've ever seen. Beautifully detailed, imaginative... I wish I could build something like this. I stand in awe. Thank you Norro, you made may day! *y*
  5. Hey, this is very imaginative! Congrats! *y*
  6. Thanks! I haven't said this earlier, but this is a work in progress. That's about all the bricks I have. But I'm planning to add another 5 or 6 32x32's worth of landscape so that my modified longship can land on the beach and perhaps also a small village. The green 4x4 plates w/o corner come from... another Viking Fortress set, and then about 30 more of them straight off Bricklink. Also wanted some in blue, but that doesn't exist, so I went with 3x3 w/o corner instead. Thank you! I think the Viking sets are worth buying, but need extensive modding. The original fortress set consists of about 1000 pieces. I removed the 3 catapults (lots of tiny Technic pieces) and the 2 dragons (even more tiny Technic pieces), but then added more than 3000 bricks and plates to make this. Also all the figs from all 7 available Viking sets, as the original with just 6 figs is seriously undermanned.
  7. I'm shocked. I really liked the previous Tiny Turbos, but these are hideous.
  8. Thanks. This was part of the plan: keep as many "original" decorative accessories (torches, shields, horns, etc.), basic structures (walls, gate) and the colour scheme (vertical planes = reddish brown, slopes = dark bley, horizontal planes = black) intact as possible, while at the same time filling it with life and a few realistic touches (e.g. stairs :-) ).
  9. Thanks, guys! I'm still not sure I'll stand comparison to the REAL builders out there, though... ;-)
  10. A new version of my heavily modified and expanded 7019 Viking fortress can now be seen in my Brickshelf gallery! (link in signature below) Please feel free to comment or criticise. Suggestions for improvement especially welcome.
  11. Not exactly a playset like this one, but at the end of 2005 there were 4 different sets of Ravensburger puzzle with a Lego theme. They each contained a regular puzzle (40 pcs, if I remember correctly) and one small clear polybag with Lego inside. Two were KKII themed: on contained a Vladek and the other a Jayko minifig with shield and weapon. Both exactly the same figs and gear as in set 8877. The other two were City themed: a police trike with fig and a fire commander's car with fig (the latter was not available anywhere else, I was told at the time). All 4 had the same printed brochure with instructions for all four "sets".
  12. Found a 6066 Camouflaged Outpost recently. Nice box, almost untouched instructions and figs, complete with all feathers and plumes.
  13. The_Hun (7) (link in signature) I've only had PayPal for 2 months, so the action's just beginning... :-) I mostly buy new parts for MOC, and the occasional minifig for a future Castle collection. What I sell is unwanted parts from sets that I bought for parts.
  14. I'm in a buying frenzy too, but I'm not buying many MISB sets. I'm buying parts for my MOC that I haven't been able to touch in weeks. Plus I've bought a few old sets that turned out to be in a worse condition than I'd thought, so I'm buying replacement parts for those, too. Buying is easier for me, because I do it at work (I sit in front of the computer all the time). Building would happen at home, taking time away from my family chores. I'm spending far more than I could actually afford, so it's got to stop. Also, I'd better start building again this weekend - especially with a MALUG meeting coming up on the 21th where I want to display some stuff. I've never bought sets to keep them MISB. Apart from the Viking sets, everything else I buy is for parts.
  15. I heard that there are no Knights Kingdom sets in the 2007 dealers' catalog. Can someone in the know confirm or deny this?
  16. This creation - as well as your Saloon - truly is amazing! All the thoughts you put in the little details & features, the background story, the design consistency with the original WW sets, and the artwork make your project even more outstanding. Please keep'em coming!
  17. This is what I use them for around the house: 1, "Everyday thingies" set for my backpack: keys, chewing gum, Swiss knife, pendrive, etc. 2, Small tool set for car 3, Small first-aid kit for one-day hikes 4, Used AA battery storage until recycling 5, Excess nails, screws and bolts 6, Rarely used Lego parts in small quantities I remove the original stickers and use coloured tape for markings.
  18. There has been lots of movies that inspired me during my late teens, but that coincided with my dark ages, so I mostly wrote short stories and did drawings instead of creating something from Lego. For years, apart from history books, my inspirations were: Star Wars, Frank Herbert's Dune, William Gibson's cyberspace novels, Tery Pratchett's Discworld series, Poul Anderson's "Orion Shall Rise", the movies Blade Runner and the Mad Max trilogy, and, of course, Lord of the Rings (the books). Here are a few examples of my post-apocalyptic/retro vehicles, inspired by the Mad Max movies. Not much design-wise, but hey, that was when I was just starting out again and had only about 5 sets / 300 to 400 pieces to build with. These are from the MALUG gallery. Click the pics to enlarge, but just a little bit... I sort of agree with the previous poster who said that movies leave little for the imagination. I much prefer books - almost all movies based on books which I had read previously turned out to be disappointments for me. I thought I'd imagined those worlds so much better than the directors! :-D One notable exception: LOTR (I couldn't have done it better myself ;-) :-P :-D )
  19. Thanx! Do you like the name as in Attila the Hun (Mr. and Mrs., of course, for the Python lovers), or "Thank you, hun', that steak was delicious!"? :-D
  20. I stand corrected. :-D :-D :-D
  21. Sir Dillon, Hobbes: thanks and hello there, too. :-) jipay: I joined the forum because I feel that I'm beginning to be able to contribute. My MOC is slowly taking shape. As I buy more & more Lego I'm developing my opinion on sets and product lines. I've found inspiration in others' creations so I'll give my opinion on them in return. I've been a member of the Hungarian AFOL club MALUG for a while, but hey, let's go international! :-D And why Eurobricks? I think these are very lively boards with lots of interesting opinions that go way beyond the usual "cool" or "sucks". Also one of the quickest when it comes to product news. ;-)
  22. xwingyoda: Friendly, indeed! 3 welcome messages in 20 minutes are pretty nice to receive. :-) kimt: I'm glad that you liked our little country. I moved out of the capital about 3 years ago to be able to afford a garden, but I commute there every day. We don't have Brand Stores here, and no S@H either. You can buy Lego in several places: toy stores and these big retail markets, but they're expensive. My main source is an AFOL who runs an online Lego store. He has the best prices in Hungary and can get you almost anything. (Some of you might know him from BL.)
  23. In Hungary, this cost about 30% less than buying the 4 separately. No plastic boxes, just clear plastic bags inside the box: no problem for me. I really like all the models. I think this is Lego at its most creative - building cool little things with just a handful of parts. Nice colours, too, and (having just re-discovered the brick after 15+ years) a lot of interesting "new" parts. Road Hero is my favourite of the whole Tiny Turbo series, although it's a bit of an oddball - a regular truck among all those tuner cars! Well, maybe it's pimped up a bit with all the chrome... :-D I usually "race" Fat Trax against 8642 Monster Crusher and Blue Renegade against 8661 Carbon Star.
  24. I bought the new Viking sets 7020 and 7021, plus a second 7019 fortress for parts. And about 5000 pieces off Bricklink.
  25. Hi and thanks! I live in a little town just north of Budapest, Hungary. Just added a few infos to my profile to make me even less anonymous... :-)
