  2. Last weekend our LUG (Brikkelauget) displayed at LEGO Norway's 50 year anniversary event. Quarryman and I thought it would be fun to make a Fabuland layout for this, and so we did. Unfortunetaly, other projects (a mountain for instance...) got in the way of building time for this, so this still has to be considered a work in progress, but hopefully, we'll have a more detailed layout ready for our next event. So here are some pictures of what we were able to put together at the event Quarryman's tree house: The inside of my bank: My bank in the background, Peppermint's croc chopper in front: My school (next to my red house): Lionel driving past Quarryman's tavern: My yellow submarine, with a familiar inhabitant: My riverside croc brother's cabin: My little mouse hole for Maurice in Quarryman's Burp Hill: And here comes Quarryman's monorail: Thanks so much to Peppermint for lending us her croc chopper and Lionel's ride . And before anyone comments on that: yes, the ramps to get across the monorail on the road are a bit steep, but they were very hastily added at the last minute, because no ramp would have looked even stupider ... And I wasn't prepared at all for Quarryman putting the lower level of the monorail two bricks above ground, and not having prepared a suitable ramp . Additional pics can be viewed in my flickr. I can see that I should have taken more pics from different angles, but I was so busy running back and forth between this and my mountain to keep the kids from knocking things over and derailing the trains, and to fix all the disasters they caused, that I didn't remember to take any more pictures...
  3. Thanks . And now that the mountain is safely packed away into boxes, I can sleep well at night again Thank you . Cranes are not the easiest way to transport LEGO, so I chose a different method: building it modularly. The whole thing comes apart into sizeable chunks that can be put into cardboard boxes, and easily transported . I wouldn't have got it through my door in one piece anyway . Thanks . It helps to have grown up in a country filled with snow and mountains Thank you . I'm not much of a Minecraft fan myself, I prefer the solid bricks I can hold in my hand
  4. Oh, I should totally add that for next time I display this! There is one with his skis crossed who's probably going to fall over soon though . Thanks, I don't mind the babble though
  5. Oh, I wish I was there! And not here in the cold and snow... I love how you've made this really feel like a tropical waterworld. Best of luck in the contest
  6. Yey, can't wait to see it
  7. Ok, right now, this is so much more fun to read than the actual ongoing game
  8. Thanks for noticing, I spent a lot of time working out all of those details Thanks, although I'm a girl Sorry to burst your bubble there, but there are no polar bears in Norwegian mountains. Brown bears yes (and if you search the pictures, you may find one ), although they usually hibernate in winter. Thanks . You should have seen the mountain before I added all the colorful details, it was so white, I went all snowblind building it Thank you . Is it really stuffed to the brim with detail? I see so much more stuff I want to add
  9. So many nice comments , thanks everyone No worries, I just elaborated on it Sadly not yet . I couldn't get that part finished in time for this weekend. But this is not the end! I will work on getting it working for the next time it will be displayed Don't get demotivated, make a smaller mountain! You really have a way with words . And thanks for the blog Thanks . I really had my hands full with all the kids trying to derail the train or picking off my ice climbers though
  10. Whoah, thanks everyone for the nice comments I'm not entirely happy with it, but it looks better in person, where you can see the texture of it better (it's supposed to be frozen you know....). And lots of people commented on how they really liked it, so I don't know Ah, yes, a troll! I should add that for text time Thank you . The santa and reindeer on top of my post office is something I built for the winter village contest here on EB a couple of years ago actually. There's more detailed pictures of it somewhere in my flickr. Thank you . But no, I don't feel accomplished, as I still feel there's a lot of work to be done on it . Oh, and like the post office I mentioned above, the dark red building (chocolate shop) has more detailed pictures somewhere in my flickr, from when I built it a year ago. Awesome You are all so kind . The recycling was actually added as a last minute detail for the exhibition, but maybe I'll keep it there for next time I display it as well. Thanks . And I do admit I "cheated" a bit on the attachment of the downhill skiiers and snowboarders, and used tack-it/white-tac. The cross country skiiers are all resting against edges though, and no sticky goo underneath. It probably is a bit dangerous, which is why those ice skaters are the risk seeking kind What's an OP? If you're talking about me, I have a name you know . And yes, like I said above, I used white-tac. Quite.... Like about 30.000 assorted white bricks, plates and slopes...
  11. Layout It's been a while since I posted any MOCs online, but that isn't because I haven't been building... In fact, I've been so busy building, I have made several MOCs that have yet to be shown online, and here's the biggest one of them all, the project that has kept me busy every day for the last 3 months, to get it finished for LEGO Norway's 50 year anniversary event this weekend. So without further ado, I present my winter mountain village, inspired by Norwegian mountains. There's still a lot of details I'd like to fix and add, but that will have to be for the next event it will be displayed at More pictures on flickr.
  12. Queen of the Mountain - Yes I am! Given by Shadows I presume And now back to building said mountain...
  13. I have seen this in person, and it's both a great idea and awesome execution of it. It looked really great in our layout in Skærbæk Oh, hey, I can see the top right corner of my hospital in that last pic
  14. This is a really great mini version of the Haunted House. I love how you did the windows and that front door, and the color scheme is very fitting.
  15. Thanks for keeping us entertained while EB was down Hinck 8. Quarryman - 1 point 11. Cara lego - 1 point 18. Cornelius Murdock - 1 point
  16. This is really nice. It's great to see some buildings that fit in with the modular standard, but adds some variety to the skyline.
  17. Ninjaaaaaaaaaa gooooooo!!!
  18. Happy birthday Stash
  19. We don't? Am I a mafia regular? I can't really invest the time or emotional stress in another game right now I'd really love to play this game though, it looks great, and I'm a real viking descendant and everything! Btw, Scorpiox, it's not wrong, it's spot on
  20. Some mighty fine entries from our awesome staff here... Now to choose the best of the best of the best... 5. DarkDragon - 2 (great representation for your forum!) 1. Ricecracker and Si-MOCs - 1 (even if you had to get some help from a Town Moderator )
  21. I love it! The figs fit nicely with the song, and cool use of a minifig to represent the fat girl You should do more brickflicks
  22. Thanks for the positive feedback Hinck . It makes me feel better that at least someone thought I was doing a good job and wasn't just scummy all the time... I feel like I haven't learned much from this game at all though. On one side, I'm being told that what I was doing was exactly how a townie should act, especially a vanilla townie, and on the other side, I got lynched for it . And nobody is giving me any pointers on how to improve my vanilla game. So, which is it? Was I doing a good job as vanilla townie, or was I just a babbling scummy townie? I'll definitely try again, but I think I'm skipping the next game. I need to get some distance from mafia after this game. I was really really excited to play in this game, and the hosting was the best ever. Yet, I'm left with mostly sad memories about the game, because of how I felt everyone was against me, from day 1 to my lynch... I may take these games too seriously. When I play, I become my character. I was Maurice Mouse. I still feel connected to the poor mouse. I've even ordered that particular Fabuland head on bricklink, so I can make him a nice home where nobody will be mean to him . Ok, I'm going to stop being emo in here now... I just can't help that I'm very emotional, and playing mafia brings out so many emotions that can be quite overwhelming at times... Scouty says it well, emotional roller coaster indeed...
  23. You're not helping
  24. Clearly more popular than me, I wasn't targeted by anyone with anything! No love for the mouse
  25. *phew* that took me a long time to read through... Congrats Draggy, I'm sort of happy scum didn't win after all . Even though Shadows seems pretty pissed at that . First of all: great game Hinck, the pictures, the characters, the story, all the interludes, the aggravating puzzles, all great fun (aaargh, the colored bottles, now I see! ) And thanks for all those kind words in your notes ... and the awesome death scene I wish you were right about me doing a sting or something with Rick though . Fact is, I was never able to form any alliances this game. My few feeble attempts at making some contacts didn't lead anywhere. Nobody seemed to want to talk to me (except the scummies I contacted ). A lot of townies seemed to think I was scum, yet nobody with an info night action bothered to try and check me out at night. I felt very frustrated for a great deal of this game, trying to figure it all out on my own, and only meeting a wall of people disagreeing with me and calling me scummy. This was actually my first game since I graduated from mafia school were I was vanilla, so it was a new experience for me to not have any means of getting info at night, or have the burden of needing to find trusted allies to help me relay results and coordinate actions. I felt a lot like a noob in a flock of mafia vets, and I probably made some mistakes and wrong assumptions, but I feel that I at least tried my best to be vocal, state my opinions and theories, try to get people talking and vote for the right person, not just hop on the most popular bandwagon. All of this clearly made me look very scummy, so you felt the need to lynch me . I had a really hard time that day, and tried to fight with all I could, and analyze as much as I could with my last breath, but felt completely ignored. Doesn't get much more frustrating than that... It at least makes me feel a little bit better that I was right about iamded
