  1. Depends whether you want your model to be 6 or 8 wide in the end; or whether you want to start using some SNOT techniques. Solutions which could work Light Bluish Grey 45411: But ouch these are expensive parts White 54095: But probably too wide Light Bluish Grey 88930: mounted at right angles to each other with SNOT techniques 88930 counterpart 61068 58883 mounted upside down, with tiles to cap the bottom studs? The wheel base mechanism would be a worthy thing to look at!
  2. How do you make sure the wheels fit around the radius of Lego track? Are they articulated on small bases?
  3. Cookies working for all other websites / sessions I use... so unless it could be disabled on a per site basis (will need to check)... as to the iOS updates, it was updated a few weeks ago without any problems. Oh well, the pain of not being able to iphone surf EB. probably good.
  4. A month back I had posted this thread about something very similar which is being made commercially.
  5. Now that is a great idea - and a product. Thanks for introducing this onto a forum!
  6. I have set my normal PC's to store my username in a cookie, so that when I come to the site Im automatically logged in, and can view the top 20 posts from a bookmarked page. This also used to work on my iphone until earlier this week. Now when I come to the site via my iphone it tells me im not logged in... so I then log in, and tick 'leave me logged in'. My username is then listed top right. I then navigate to the forum side, but discover my username is missing and I need to log in again. So I try again, same thing, username is listed then disappears on the next page. This is only a problem from the iphone.
  7. Sometimes it does not like spaces in credit card numbers... just a thought
  8. Thanks AussieJimbo - damn I hate the autocorrect feature. Dan-147 - I forgot to mention - great model. It looks to use the wheel designs from the Railbricks wagons - is that right? It certainly looks good; I might have most of the parts for an old grey version.
  9. I forget who, aussiejbo? Did one about 9-12 months ago here on eB - iPhone won't let me search
  10. My bad - they are actually 4 wide containers. The TTX / Intermodal design I remembered was this one from Gallery J-2 or from lssjack However both are wrong; the colours look reddish brown. Looking through Portlug a bit - there are some nice member sites with photos http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2743056 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Kenn/Trains/NILTC/Southland-07/lighted_cab_cr.jpg But no obvious sighting of the TTX :(
  11. Apart from bnsf orAnge and dark green beauties, it reminds me of 8 wide ttx models I've seen on brick shelf. Unfortunately link is not on my iPhone. Someone on eBay based in northern usA (grizzly????) used to sell similar mock about a year ago. Once a complete series in dark blue
  12. Thanks for posting this link - I had often wondered what other locomotives would pull the 7740 series carriages; I have acquired many but never the locomotive. I have various BL orders coming in with some old 1980's style panoramic windows to be able to make a nice observation car for the 7740; I wonder if they were ever officially on the TEE? I really love your Santa Fe designs, and wish they had been 7x44 studs but then, that is the realm of MOC'ing instead of Lego designs. Thanks for some great inspiration... And the Grey / Black glacier express inspired car are actually the 1st class observation coaches which run between Zurich and Austria; and look spot on.
  13. That sir - is an excellent tip. Thank you - now everything becomes clear.
  14. Are you also aware of the work of Space2310 who posted some very nice PF narrow gauge trains. He made some elegent solutions for switches and powered bogeys which could add more to your series. bogie by Space2310, on Flickr
  15. I had tried to find a good solution for a EE 3/3 model, but used BBB blind wheels to ensure I get a the right spacing. I once asked BB why the piston rod holes were not 1/2 stud (they are on EN wheels) and the main issue seems to have been strength. I had not considered using flexible elements which I find to be a very elegant solution to the problem. Congratulations!
  16. Comparing to some of the photos - it seems slightly short - but is still a good realisation of the cab windows (upside down). Well done. I would also have suggested making the nose 5 studs wide - and using some 1x2 plates with one studs to offset the width; the 1 stud wide tiles along the edge almost seem to wide.
  17. In the cussoo thread in ambassador forum there appears to be new rules concerning custom parts whereby they would be considered with a production premium. Sorry iPhone linking not easy, but worth checking the details.
  18. Someone posted a method to open pf motor and add a technic pin with axle head. Probably a month ago,
  19. Im curious to how you finished off the green panels - is this the 'illegal' technique of using a 1x1 technic brick? Certainly a very good design; I had struggled to find a decent set of panels to do something similar for a model once. Nice solution as always!
  20. Or more precisely - give up now and bow down in the presence of beauty. Wow.
  21. So thats where all the tan bricks went? Seriously are they ordering directly from Lego in exchange for the marketing?
  22. Looks good - and those porthole windows dont look too bad either!. Is the windscreen the trans-dark part from the 3677 Cargo train? Certainly the trans-dark helps emphasise the interiors more.
  23. The older 9V magnets are polarised; the upper half N and the lower half S. Thus they spin to align themselves.
  24. Someone on this forum showed a automated system based upon a locomotive with a rack and pinion 'piston' to push magnets apart. Perhaps easier now there are the new mini linear actuators. Other options would be a track based structure which hooks a truck, whilst the locomotive + rake pull apart.
